Timothy McVeigh wouldn't kidnap anyone-- that is more Posse Comitatus style tactics. McVeigh was inspired by William Luther Pierce. Actually the boogaloo/lone wolf approach also comes from Pierce, the last influential "thinker" the white nationalists had. Since he died, the movement has been in disarray. The Republican Party has kind of filled the leadership hole.

Terry Nichols was a Michigan resident for a period and McVeigh visited him but to claim McVeigh was "from' Michigan is just wrong.

Also, if there were potential looters, wearing hoodies inside the building, like waiting arraignment or something, then the entire bombing could be justified. They would actually be patriots for preventing looting by taking out the criminals in advance. Unfortunately, in war, there is collateral damage. They were going to have to build a new building anyway. Let's throw them a parade.

There is nothing comparable between the two situations - not in fact and not in law.

Trump would personally call McVeigh and congratulate him and tell him to stand back and stand by.

Any mass shooting, bombing or high-profile crime committed by a white right-winger is immediately deemed a set-up by the deep state. Every single right-winger is a non-violent, law-abiding individual and every crime committed by a non-white person is real and should be blamed on every single person who is of that group.

Outside the relatively civilized southeastern enclave of Detroit and its satellite communities Michigan is basically Mississippi without the accents. The entire state has a long and grotesque history of Klan activity, militias and incredibly evil political actions by the white majority against black-majority cities. When something happens like Rick Snyder poisoning the water supply of Flint or Republican politicians refusing to certify the election results in Detroit, that's coming from the same place as McVeigh and his pal Terry Nichols.

Civil war would happen. The bombing would be in incendiary and actually start a civil war. That's why the Kenosha incident isn't comparable. That was one guy killing a few people with an AR-15, that happens every other day in America. A bombing wouldn't be shrugged off, it would ignite a civil war.

The point isn't to compare Rittenhouse's act to the bombing. The point is to compare the mindsets of people who share paranoid/delusional beliefs about the government, "socialists," etc. The amount of support the kid got is mind blowing. How far would they go in their support if the level of their crimes rose Murrah extremes?

The only difference between now and then is that if anyone defended right-wing terrorism back then, they would be shamed for it, not celebrated.

R18, the reason the two incidents are not comparable is because the Oklahoma bombing has zero elements of self defense or mitigation. The Kenosha incident definitely has elements of self-defense. Any criminal attorney can clearly see that. Whether those elements create a complete defense is something a judge and/or jury will have to decide. The level of self-defense may warrant an acquittal or may be more appropriately grounds for mitigation at any subsequent sentencing following a conviction.

Trying to compare the two for other purposes is as useless as trying to compare the looks of the two defendants. It gets us nowhere.

And BTW, R22, Rittenhouse was attacked AFTER he had already shot one of his victims.
