The turkey on the head was a well-known Mr Bean gag. Don’t people realize this? Somehow the Friends episode is considered a classic because of the turkey. Yet another reason I hate that show.
How Did Friends Get Away with Ripping off Mr Bean?

The "turkey on the head" type shit was never why Friends was funny. Friends had moments when it could be funny, but those moments were because of dry cynical humor, not because of the "lol so random" jokes.

How did they get away with making fun of monica’s frizzy jewish hair in the Jamaican humidity. Questioning if she was a woman, calling her diana ross etc. That would not fly in todays woke world. They had balls to do it even back then.

The '90s weren't "woke".

R4 They cast Aisha Tyler as Joey/Ross’ girlfriend after backlash so yes it was a little “woke”.

"Woke" for the 90's is "politically incorrect" today, just like woke for the 80's and 70's and the 60's is "politically incorrect" today.

In that Aisha Tyler episode (in the bahamas or jamaica or wherever it was) the writers were making fun of monica’s black girl humidity hair. Those fuckers had balls

Aisha Tyler's character was very white-washed.

R9 Her character was a snow queen yes, but wasn’t she a doctor on the show?

Friends didn’t have dry cynical humor. It was a show for plebs. A step above Full House. Go watch the show without the laugh track.

It takes balls to make a corny racist joke? Really?

Scott Thompson will gladly school you.

Wokeness looked different back then. Wokeness is the 90's would be considered racism today. It's hard to look at wokeness in the past through today's lens because of how radically everything has changed in only a decade.
