by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 22, 2020 3:56 PM |
The Republicans are afraid of what happened in Kansas - the incumbent was primaried by a Trump favorite, the Trump favorite won the primary, and then Democrats took the governorship. The same thing could happen in Georgia and Ohio if Trump continues to fuck things up. So they're starting to stand up for the Governors - that's why Chris Christie said that Trump's legal team was an embarrassment, because Trump's lawyer accused Governor Kemp of what is essentially a crime.

The Media holds the power once he leaves. If they keep giving him oxygen and covering him he will be able to wreck our country because his sheeple will follow his every fart. But if the Media robs him of oxygen, and our Social Media gets tougher, Facebook I'm looking at you,. If we can dismantle the infrastructure on the internet, of the extremist sites, then we can stop hi and the Extremist views he represents. And we have to keep pushing to get rid of Republicans. Look. We dropped the ball as far as the House, the Senate and the state legislatures. It's important. Because the state legislatures, in most states, will have the power to run the legislative redistricting to draw new congressional districts. They also make the election laws in each state. Until we address that we are in a holding pattern, standing on quicksand. We have to make sure, every damned day, that Bideon stands up.

Oh for fuck sake, just stop. Trump -being a complete ignoramus- won the god damned GOP nomination over far more qualified Republicans back in 2016 solely because he's a prejudiced shithead and that is precisely why millions of white trash low-life dirtbags gravitated to him. Stop making excuses for who these Republican voters are.
Trump has nothing on them from Russia. What he has is insight into precisely who the average Republican is: An entitled, white, racist asshole and Trump hate was what appealed to them. Period.
Can we stop acting as though every Republican is raping children and Russia has that on them? All Trump had to do was to say out loud precisely what we knew the GOP has always been. The Southern Strategy exists because we have always known who they are. I mean the fact that Karl Rove saw the way to defeat McCain to get Bush in front was to tell Republicans he has a "black daughter," is all you need to know about the millions of repugnant filth who vote GOP.

+1 on R13
And +1 on R9
This will be Tea Party 2.0, where Trump's help gets unelectable right wingers nominated in numerous state and local level contests, letting Dems get some easy wins on the board as in Kansas.
Plus the further into Tin Hat territory The Rudy Show goes, the more the remaining moderate Republicans will want to have nothing to do with Trump

“The Media holds the power once he leaves.”
No it doesn’t. 70+ million people didn’t vote for the media as president. They voted for Trump. The media wants to tap into those numbers, so they will slavishly broadcast his every fart and burp.
The Republican Party is the party of Trump now. End of story. They all bow down to him.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 22, 2020 5:02 PM |

Not so much with the GOP, R17 (though that will not hurt) but with the election process overall.

The GOP will keep doubling down on the Trumpanzee voters. They have nothing else to offer. What are their policies anymore other than "whatever Trump wants" and "Joe Biden is a socialist"?
The Tea Party will rise back up, especially now that there's another black person in the Executive Branch.

[quote]No it doesn’t. 70+ million people didn’t vote for the media as president.
The media normalized Trump and his campaign from the get go. If they hadn't treated him with kid gloves from the beginning and exposed to the world that the emperor had no clothes it would have been a very different outcome.
Instead, he got to host SNL after calling Mexicans rapists and participate in cutesy sketches. He got to stalk Clinton around on debate with the moderator acting like it was perfectly normal. He told Russia to hack into her emails with zero blowback. He ridiculed a disabled person with no blowback.
Do you get it now?

R24 I know that the majority of Americans don't read anymore, but it still boggles my mind that most people didn't bother to read up on Trump. After all, it's all out there about his bankruptcies and business failures, not to mention the divorces and affairs (not that I give a shit who he fucks, but that seems to bother a lot of people). They just went with seeing him on the Apprentice and the media adulation of him. This really is the Idiocracy.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 22, 2020 5:18 PM |
R24, even before that. The birther garbage should've put an end to him. They gave a platform and a TV show to a racists shit who questioned the very birthplace of the president of the Unite States. To go on those shows and say he had investigators in HI who are "finding unbelievable things" and these news orgs. didn't even follow-up. They never asked for the info or the names of these investigators. They just continued to put him on and let hims spew his garbage unchallenged and rewarded him with a game show.

by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 22, 2020 5:22 PM |
I think there's not much he'll be able to do when he is no longer president. He's damaged his own brand by acting so pettily since the election and also by being represented by Rudy Giuliani's version of the Keystone Cops as a legal team.
Only 20% of the American people are a such hardcore Trumpers that they believe he won the election. The other 25% who voted for him must be deeply embarrassed for him now,.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 22, 2020 5:23 PM |
R27 Even before that, when he went on homophobic attacks against Rosie O Donnell, he was still the darling of the late night talk shows, and they would have him on so he could make fun of the "lesbian".
by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 22, 2020 5:24 PM |
What it comes down to is that no so-called respectable news outlet should have ever had him on. Period. He has no insight on politics that anyone needs to hear. His hate was legitimized and he won the GOP nom (NOT the majority of actual voters,) because he revealed exactly what so many in this country truly are and it's very ugly and he showed that the LBJ quote is relevant today.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 22, 2020 5:34 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 22, 2020 5:34 PM |
R34 And his tens of millions of fans?
There seems to be a number of people desperate to think Trump is an aberration. Either it's a media creation, or it's Russia or something else. Anything rather than them having to face up to the fact that tens of millions of their fellow citizens actually support him. And by burying your head in the sand and pretending it's just the media or Russia or whatever, you're just delaying dealing with the actual problem - which is those tens of millions of people. Trump is a symptom, he's not the disease.

I expect that the GOP strategy for dealing with Trump is to let the SDNY deal with him. We've all seen the speculation that once Trump is out of office, the SDNY is going to hit him with a lot of legal investigations. That allows the GOP to sit back and mumble something about fair investigations, and while everyone is looking at Trump, the GOP can quietly go about their business.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 22, 2020 5:52 PM |
The media is just as much to blame. I’ll say it forever: During his first campaign, he used to call in to “Morning Joe” EVERY DAY, and they’d give him as much air time as he wanted. Sometimes Mika “Know Your Worth” Brzezinski would chide him for some outrageous thing he said, as if he were a naughty kindergartner.
Well, how did that work out for them? In return for the simpering, Mika “Bleeding From Wherever” got a deserved knife in her back.
He doesn’t make allies, he’s not loyal, he’s a rabid dog who should be put down.

Don’t make me giggle. He’s shot himself in the foot so many times with what he said he doesn’t have feet. Yet no consequences. People used to be embarrassed when they were caught in an outright lie; and for a politician it would usually do serious damage to his career if the lie was important.

R39, because Siri doesn’t recognize kompromat as a word, so she breaks it up into three different words and capitalizes it. So you have to re-type parts of it and join the spaced out parts together, and by then, it’s not worth deleting the capital “K” too.

We should be cautious about cheering on a revivified Trump, even though a splintered GOP would be just desserts for the bullshit they have served up over the last 40 years.
Trump was the preferred opponent for the Clinton campaign. See how that went. Rising Republican stars fell one by one, dumbfounded that they were losing to this guy. The media covered him because he knew how to get attention and he had a massive following.
Can you even imagine what a second Trump administration would look like? Score setting, senility, and crushing fiscal reality are not a pretty scenario.

Dump can't win any election outside of his own GOP primary without massive cheating efforts R62. Even his primary was rigged in the sense that he blackmailed closeted trash like Falwell Jr., etc. into pulling away from that odious Cruz to endorse one of the most corrupt and laughable "TV personalities" of all time into being "God's chosen one" for the dumb-as-rocks Evangelicals to flock behind. I'm sure that far more was afoot behind the scenes in the GOP primary. It would be hard for any SANE person with a (if not less than) 6th grade education to connect the dots with the illegal "help" that he was given to "win" in 2016. This time, even all the USPS sabotaging, vote machine hacking, suppression, voter role "cleansing" and gerrymandering - he STILL didn't pull out a victory against Biden. If Biden and Kamala get investigations going (whether publicized or not) into these polling "abnormalities" that are so very blatant when his pathetic name appears on a ballot and set fire to the grift - no worries about Dumpty ever again. He just doesn't have the numbers (lest we forget that a huge percentage of his fans will be dead soon - naturally or via the irony of COVID).

Trump would have won without Falwell Jr's support. Anyone could see by the end of 2015 that he was going to steamroll over the other candidates and take the nomination easily; he was the only candidate who got the base enthusiastic. He owns that party now; he's what they want.
The other contenders are going to have to sit tight if he keeps making noise about running in 2024, because if they so much as announce an exploratory committee, they'll de facto be opponents of MAGA. They'll have to do like they're doing now and wait until he physically collapses or, Palin-like, loses interest. More likely he'll make it to the primaries and then all bets are off.
