Why are they so snobby and unfriendly in temperament?

Because they’re superior beings that don’t have to grovel like dogs to humans just to get what they want. And if they don’t get it, they don’t care much about that either.

My cat growing up (she lived to be 21) was part Persian and part Angora.
Regal is the perfect way to describe her. She was a queen and if she deigned to grace you with her presence (in your lap) you accepted it like the blessing it was. She didn’t consider herself a cat and never played with any other cats. She mellowed with age though - if you pissed her off when she was young, you paid the price. Basically, she learned to roll with the punches and not scratch me when I sneezed.
