Miss Lindsey Graham faces ethics complaint

USA TODAY, Nov 19, 2020

WASHINGTON – Sen. Lindsey Graham, a staunch ally of the president, is the target of an ethics complaint after his controversial phone call with a key election official in Georgia over how the state counts ballots.

Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger accused Graham earlier this week of pressuring him to find ways to exclude or invalidate legally cast absentee ballots and reverse Trump’s loss in the state, an accusation the South Carolina Republican called "ridiculous."

Graham said he had also spoken with Arizona's Republican Gov. Doug Ducey and was briefed about the process in Nevada, both swing states that helped Joe Biden beat President Donald Trump for the White House.

The senator's contact with other states over election counting efforts came as Trump and his campaign have lodged multiple lawsuits over baseless voter fraud allegations in a longshot attempt to overturn the election results.

A complaint filed Wednesday to the Senate Select Committee on Ethics asks the panel to investigate Graham's phone call with Raffensperger, whether Graham suggested not counting all legal votes and whether he had threatened election officials, who are in the midst of a recount, with a Senate investigation. The complaint was filed by Walter Shaub, a former top ethics watchdog for the federal government under President Barack Obama; Richard Painter, the top ethics lawyer under President George W. Bush; and Claire Finkelstein, who heads the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law.

"If these allegations are true, Senator Graham's conduct constitutes an abuse of office and conduct unbecoming of a senator," the complaint states.

This is much worse than Al Franken. Paging Ms. Gillibrand and all the other Dems first to make the kinds of noises Lindsay and Repubs would make it the shoe was on the other foot and it was a Dem doing this. Repubs at the Lincoln Project should show them how they would do it!

This bitch is hiding something that will come out when Dump is out of office. That's a given on DL. But to be so brazen to have votes dumped to favor Trump? She's reeeeeeaaallly desperate...

I hope this story develops into the size and traction of an epic avalanche. Enough of this nasty, self-hating queen already.

by Anonymousreply 3Last Thursday at 12:58 PM

She really is Trump's bitch.

String him up!

It was gratifying to see his opponent ahead in the polls, briefly, on election night and the State riding themselves of this whining tool.

Is he actually a good Senator? What has he achieved for his state?

Hilton Als wrote this remarkable post on Instagram yesterday, eviscerating Graham's recent shenanigans.

If he is willing to do this, shouldn't it follow that his own election should be investigated? If he is willing to unduly influence other states, it would make sense that he would go to any lengths to win his seat. Especially with the polls being way off. The polls in the presidential contest turned out to be more or less accurate.

It is hilarious to watch Rudy and this bitch turn into such cartoon characters.

The article contains quotes from Democratic senators indicating they also don’t put any stock in the revenge tactic by Raffensperger. So some people will of course insert some sound and fury in the discussion, but the accusation is meaningless.

Well, he's got his AirForce pension, his Senate pension, the best healthcare money can buy, a couple of nice houses, a string of well hung rentboys, he's in the Senate where they tolerate just about anything (McTurtle for instance) so he's got another twenty to thirty years to go as a senatrix for one or other of the Carolinas.

The SC Republican can't be accused of having solid ethics. Graham won by 10 pints, defying the polls which suggested a tight race. The election apparatus at the top is run by Republicans.

Cunningham, a Democratic incumbent in Charleston District 1, should have comfortably defeated Mace, but he lost.

If Democrats had any brains at all, they should aggressively be trying to flip Miss Lindsay. Get her to snitch on Dump and blab all the dirty secrets, promise protection and if other charges outside the scope of this deal surface, oh well, Miss Linds. We tried to protect you, but these other charges have nothing to do with your plea deal.

Hope that made sense.

This Senator getting re-elected is as bad as Alabama electing Tommy Turbeville, a washed-up mediocre college football coach.

by Anonymousreply 34Last Saturday at 8:05 AM

This opinion writer apparently did not know Graham very well.

Graham was begging for campaign funds on Fox multiple times. Then after the election, he donates $500,000 to Trump to challenge the election.

What happened in SC needs an independent audit. Graham continues to meddle in Georgia's election affairs trying to disenfranchise the black vote.

Jesus christ, how many dossiers on how many people have Trump and the Russians assembled? This gets more insane as time goes on. The murder of Epstein is one of the most monumental forgotten events of american political history. Where are the investigations? How much does the SDNY DA/AG know? How far and just how deep does this corruption extend? Rhetorical questions. Who knows. Who will EVER know.
