[quote] R24: He could just pardon himself as he’s filling up Air Force 1.
He might already have done so, secretly, already.
There a lot of controversy over this for many reasons, but one big reason he might not do so, is because accepting a pardon requires the recipient to acknowledge that he broke the law. That acknowledgment could be used by NY, DC, or Florida against Trump, in state or district criminal trial. Also, he can’t plead the 5th if he can’t be prosecuted. Something like that.
If Trump resigns after making a deal with Pence for a pardon, if I were new President Pence, I’d agree to pardon Trump, but would no do so.

Dump has no actual friends & I don't think he's capable of shame; I do think he's scared that if he leaves the WH, old Sleepy Joe will sneak in & next thing you know, Dr. Jill will have changed the locks - Melania will depart to her condo & he'll be left sleeping in some reporter's car. He's also probably terrified of leaving his fortress & facing the angry mob, even if it is FL. While I doubt he cares about *friends*, there may be some people he owes $$ to that will be there to...greet him.

Is there any chance he may not be going because the Secret Service is 130+ agents short during their 14 day quarantine? Might they be stretched thin? It's easier to protect him and the huge family at the White House. Also, with the drug cocktail he's on, they might want to be close to Walter Reed.

Maybe there's a more "strategic" reason behind confining Trump to D.C. They know he's out of control, angry, and desperate so they want him nice and close to monitor every call, every action, every person he speaks to in person, everything he does. Except for tweets, obviously.

[quote] I thought Trump was going to resume his MAGAt rallies, how will he get his narcissistic needs met if he doesn't leave the WH?
In order to get away with having his rallies paid for, he has to be a candidate for president.
In order to be a candidate for president, he has to admit Joe Biden won. It’s a conundrum. He can only run for president in 2024 if he agrees he lost the election.
I do think that not going to Maralago may be a result of the secret service refusing to go there because Trump’s guests won’t wear masks. I think the secret service doesn’t want to risk any more of their agents by traveling somewhere where there’s going to be a huge number of maskless people who will infect even more secret service agents.

Add to that, r66 "family dynamics" - who knows what exactly is going on behind the scenes, who has his ear, or who is irritating him Every single decision that whole entire family makes relates to $$$. They must be panicked worrying about debts, legal issues, political storm clouds amassing. Four damned years and he has cruised through them poorly informed, peddling conspiracy theories, refusing to read his briefings, turning cabinet meetings into rant sessions, and staff has bent over backwards and forwards to accommodate this ignorant POS. I think, r76 the key word uttered yesterday by Biden was "irresponsible." Biden chose his words v-e-r-y c-a-re-f-u-l-l-y. Reading between the lines, I heard "treason, enemy, untrustworthy, sabotage, etc" It didn't sound very good at all. At all. I just can't believe they are going to let Trump wander the globe chatting up dictators, deal-making by swapping secrets in exchange for big favors. There's a saying - “A drowning man will grab the blade of a sword.” All those world leaders dragging their feet congratulating Biden know that Trump is up to no good - that "power" is going to felt even after Jan 20th. He's a dirty dog.

I agree. And the reach of his vengeance is long even now. The business community has now gone on the record, several national organizations and business leaders telling Trump to stop fucking around, so he has Mnuchin attempting to pull $455 Billion in business help out of our Federal Reserve system and The Fed is resisting because it spells disaster for our economy. Mnuchin is doing it to harm the business community at Trump's behest. As Brianna Keilar just said on CNN<"What the hell is he doing???"

[quote]He doesn’t want to face anyone in Florida. He feels like a jerk.
R60 is on the right path to the correct answer. But it's more than Trump just feeling like a jerk. He's mortified and humiliated and feels like a loser--the worst thing that you can called Trump. There is no lasting shame for losing an election; it happens all the time. It's not easy, and it's probably a huge ego blow, but if you give it your all and fight the good fight, it's unfortunate to lose, but it happens and takes some time to recover. However with Trump, he's a piece of shit. He's corrupt and a fraud. He didn't deserve to win. And he knows it, but his mind gets clouded because he keeps telling himself he's great--and he has adoring crowds and disgusting sycophants supporting him. Trump thought he could continue conning the public. This is one of the few times in his life that he cannot wish away, bully away, pay someone off to handle it or simply be given a victory.
As a result and as bad as losing may feel, he's making it worse for himself and everyone around him. He and slimy lawyers and political sycophants are dreaming up lies and think the justice system can be conned and bullied into changing the rules and skirting the laws. Trump is losing in every court where he displays this ridiculous and embarrassing clown show.
Trump is not going to Florida because he's making losing even worse than it is, and he's beyond mortified. He's further brandishing himself as a loser more than it needs to be. Trump thinks he has perfected the art of playing victim and the courts are not having it. The courts want evidence. Trump has nothing--and his so-called friends beyond the safety of the White House bunker mentality know he lost big time--and Trump knows it too. No one can undo Trump's psychosis and his grandiose humiliation of losing. He needs major, long-term therapy, and it's too late for that. Trump doesn't allow himself to heal. His inadequacy just festers in his mind and makes him more bitter by the day.
His bitter victim personality is what is causing him to "seek revenge" and say he's running in 2024. As Mary Trump said, she doesn't believe he will run because he will never allow himself to lose on such a grand scale again. His ego is too fragile. It may fill a void now and serve as a threat to the country and his party. Him threatening to run is something to dangle out there to keep everyone off guard. But in the end, he won't run again because the possibility of losing could happen--and he cannot tolerate the thought being called a loser once again.

Others here have correctly pointed out where r93 is wrong and that is that reproductive rights are in peril.
But, I too think there was a massive overreaction to Trump. Let me be clear- not to his bigotry, hatefulness, lying, and unleashing violence- those never can be overreacted to.
I mean there was an overreaction by some Dems to his ability, when, in reality, Trump's an incompetent, colossal idiot who doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.
Part of the overreaction to Trump's election and his perceived ability actually was heartbreak over Hillary's loss.
The USA is very, very lucky that Trump is an idiot, something I knew of him way before "The Apprentice", a show which, I'm proud to say, I've never even seen one episode.
What we're not so lucky about is that there are very smart, evil Repugs who are coming down the pipeline.

There still would have been a democratic reaction to him, but he may not be as reviled as he is. But what do I know, the motherfucker still got 73 million votes.

R101, my fear is that we will get a smarter smoother version not only of Trump, but the Extreme Right has inadvertently exposed the entire network, or support system that installed Trump. Unless we dismantle that network and there are swift and certain consequences for treason and sedition, we are just whistling past the graveyard. This will happen again and the players will be more effective. Here's the thing to know: Ideology is an encumbrance. We can beat them, when we are faced with Rigid ideologues because we can spot them a mile away, and they are so encumbered by their ideology, that they engage in magical thinking, and overreach. Being rigid makes them stupid no matter how educated they are. They only talk to one another and never get out of their bubble. Now Where I worry, is that there are evil forces out here, who have no ideology to speak of, like the Russian mobsters & oligarchs. All they are motivated by is Greed and oppressing the masses and distracting them. So while we all attack one another and remain polarized dealing with our ideological differences, those bastards who are trying to establish a corporate police state will prevail. We need stricter laws about international finance and investment so that corruption is rooted out.

Right, r106, as though taking an extreme and generalizing it to the many is a cogent response.
Let's see, under Trump, hate crimes have increased, minority children have reported being intimidated and bullied by white,Trump supporting classmates, Trump supporters show-up with guns at demonstrations and Kyle Rittenhouse, martyr/criminal of Trump Rabidians everywhere and of Trump himself is venerated by them.
At one of his brownshirt rallies, Trump pointed out a lone, brave protester among a sea of his supporters and said in the old days the protester would have been "taken out on a stretcher", implying he could be the one meting it out, except , of course Trump is physical and mental coward. He, "the most powerful man in the world" can't even fire people face-to-face, he does so at the safe remove of his Twitter account.
Not to mention, a person belonging to the "very nice people on both sides", accelerated his car and and struck and killed a young woman in Charlottesville.
What contempt you have for others if you think you can get by with making Trump equivalent to any other POTUS.; as though Biden, Obama or either Bush would approve of and incite violence the way Trump has.
Fuck-off.

R104 It wasn't the left which told Proud Boys to stand by, it wasn't the left which defended "both sides" at a Nazi rally, it wasn't the left which pursued rhetoric which led to a militia planning to abduct and execute a governor.

Is that you, Vlad? We heard you are retiring and have Parkinson's.

I hope there’s a good coverage buyer press on him being hauled out by the military along with his whore. We need to make sure he didn’t steal any of the things that Jackie Kennedy made sure ended up in the White House. Including those paintings he took out of that embassy in Europe. These people are grifters and we have to make sure they don’t steal. They cheat on everything else so there’s no reason to assume they’re going to do the right thing here. Maybe they’ll take Hillary Clinton is China with them. That would be funny.

They all turned out to be replicas anyway.

Everything that R93 says that we democrats are "losing our minds over" is starting to happen by judicial appointment.
Yesterday, here in Florida, two of Trump's judicial appointees have overturned the ban on gay conversion therapy for children in South Florida. It took us years to get this passed. Now that Trump has installed 200 illiberal, gay-hating judges across America, you will see this shit start to roll out.
And Supreme Court Justice Karen is ready for the first abortion rights case to come before her.
R93 is wrong in thinking that, because these things didn't happen immediately, by executive order, that they are not going to happen. All of these 200 federal judges are LIFETIME appointments. We'll be dealing with the fallout from this for decades.

Amen r108. People need to start going to jail and that Koch brother needs to be publicly punished for his treasonous acts for the past twenty years.

so much projection.
any time there's actual vote fraud or political violence, the evidence reveals a Republic behind it.

The biggest mistake we made was believing that Americans were better than Nazi Germans. We now have to realize that fascism is less than 6 million votes away.

Trump and I will have a cozy Thanksgiving snuggling by the WH fireplace sipping eggnog after a delightful round of golf.

I wonder if he’ll let Vairst walk Jill around (ceremonially). I wonder if he’ll go in for one meaty 🥩 grab on Jill. That will be his filthy welcome/goodbye handshake to the Bidens.

I'm seriously curious, will the First Lady even bother decorating the White House? is she even near DC right now?
by Anonymous | reply 128 | November 25, 2020 12:47 PM |
R128 two days ago she welcomed the Christmas tree and stated that she is "excited to begin decorating"
by Anonymous | reply 129 | November 25, 2020 12:50 PM |
I think Vairst has some decency & will play by the rules, Dump will want to fuck with the Bidens!

She’s a mentally ill parasite who uses DL to vent her disease instead of getting the therapy she needs.

R130 - “Vairst” watched a tree get delivered for a few minutes, then went inside and asked, “where’s my check”. After, someone with knowledge of the English language posted to a Twitter account that bears her name. And that same person will probably decorate the White House on her behalf, while she’s miles away talking to her attorneys.
by Anonymous | reply 132 | November 25, 2020 1:27 PM |
I cannot, for the life of me, see Vairst & it retiring together to sunny ☀️ Florida!

I don’t see Melania going back to Florida or Slovenia at all... she hasn’t been to Slovenia in more than 20 years I think. She definitely won’t go with Dump to Florida. NY might be doable, but she’d have to publicly reject Dump—maybe hint she was “held hostage.” I think if she did, people (being stupid) would not only forgive her, but she’d be welcome back into rich NY society. But I’ll go out on a limb—I think she’ll end up in sunny California.
by Anonymous | reply 134 | November 25, 2020 3:34 PM |
Or Moscow.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | November 25, 2020 3:36 PM |
I actually don’t see her in Moscow, r135. It’s really cold and bleak... it can be a fun city if you’re into drinking and partying, but she doesn’t seem to be.
I think Paris might be an option—if she actually spoke French. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
by Anonymous | reply 136 | November 25, 2020 3:39 PM |
I wonder how people in NYC will treat them now? Will it still be, "Oh look, it's Donald Trump! Get your camera!". Or will it be catcalls and snubbing?
The kids can probably still make it Manhattan. But are the elder Trumps exiled to Mag-a-Largo forever, for safety reasons?
by Anonymous | reply 137 | November 25, 2020 4:52 PM |
I think I can safely say that the reception in NYC will be tepid at best, frigid more likely.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | November 25, 2020 5:42 PM |
I don’t see Dump ever returning to Manhattan, in fact. I can count on one hand the number of times he visited NY as president. He knows NY hates him.

by Anonymous | reply 140 | November 25, 2020 6:33 PM |
Finally following CDC recommendations.

Melania is the type who'd want to live in Paris. New York society might not accept Jared and Ivanka, but they could always hang out with the Orthodox community. You can always find someone to kiss your ass if you have money.
Florida is the perfect place for Trump. Both junkies and senior citizens love it there.
