Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages. It's such a lightweight movie, but he has a really great singing voice and he felt more alive than I'd seen him in years. I think he might be a song and dance man at heart.
Larraine Newman was always one of my least favorite SNL performers. I can't think of many skits she made memorable, but she's hilarious as this insane southern woman trying to steal John Ritter in one of those Problem Child sequels. I caught it on TV a few years ago and found myself really loving her in it.

Rosamund Pike in GONE GIRL. Splendid as the sexy (but not really) murderous psychopath. Pike is completely uninteresting to me elsewhere; her latest turn in I CARE A LOT feels like a low-rent, less artful version of her GONE GIRL character. Meh.

r42 Pfeiffer and Pacino have been in some good stuff, I would say they are two of my favorites. Funny how we all see things differently.

I have never seen American Psycho. And i don't want to. it sounds really dark and disgusting.

Christian Bale in Little Women. He is so charming and likable in this part. Now he only chooses dark roles. Big mistake.

Brad Pitt in "12 Monkeys" (although the film is a bloated version of an excellent French short called La Jetée - "The Jumper"). Pitt walked off with the film and blew Bruce Willis out of the water (which isn't that hard, admittedly).

Beyoncé in “Dreamgirls”. I don’t hate her as an artist but she is no actress. That role worked because she had to stand and look pretty.

Robert Downey Jr in Tropic Thunder, I think being the son of the man behind Greaser's Palace and Putney Swope made him perfect for the role.
I really hated him in Zodiac, it's such a good movie and his mumbling egotistical performance really distracted from everything else.

Kim Novak in “Middle of the Night”
It’s really Frederick March’s movie, with a Paddy Chayefsky script.
But she’s actually good in it.

Tyler Perry in "Gone Girl"
Ryan O'Neal in "Barry Lyndon" (his wooden acting is actually good for the role).

The cast of [italic]Friends[/italic] in nothing, and even before that wretched show premiered I saw them in various shows and movies and they sucked in all of them. The blackest thing about that show is the cultural black hole it has created that has engulfed our culture and discouraged anything truly creative or innovative from coming out of either Hollywood or Broadway.

I only liked JLo in the fantastic Out of Sight. She and Clooney were never better.

I'd forgotten about Rex Harrison in The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. It was on cable last night. That and The Yellow Rolls Royce are the only two films I enjoyed with him. Overall I liked the film My Fair Lady but thought he was miscast for being too old for the role.

Jennifer Aniston was awful in [italic]Cake[/italic] just like she is awful in everything she does. It's ludicrous how she rented a whole hotel room for a whole Oscar nomination party when she didn't get one! I guess Oscar isn't THAT white!

Harrison Ford, as Han Solo.
He is either smug, unlikeable, wooden or dull in every one of the other dozen movies I’ve seen him in (yes, including INDIANA JONES). I’m not sure he can actually act, just that he was able to pull off Han for some weird cosmic reason.

R172 there was a later tv adaption of 12 MONKEYS, with a different feel. The acting in it was pretty decent—the lead, Aaron Stanford, brings interesting dimensions.
