No, and no one else. Just the two.
If it came down to Pete and AOC for the next POTUS, who would you choose?
by Anonymous | reply 111 | October 30, 2020 8:18 PM |
AOC, just to watch the right meltdown in abject horror.
Hmmm, maybe I'm starting to get a better sense of where Trump supporters are coming from.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 24, 2020 9:19 PM |
Pete. But I am a former Republican.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 24, 2020 9:22 PM |
The next president will Biden. Your hypothetical should ask about the president after that.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 24, 2020 9:25 PM |
Interesting to say this, but the gay guy is probably has a better chance in this one. I love him, so I might be a little biased...
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 24, 2020 9:26 PM |
Pete without even a thought otherwise.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 24, 2020 9:27 PM |
AOC. She doesn't spout that religious bullshit.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 24, 2020 9:28 PM |
Obviously Pete. The bitch AOC is too much of a Far Left radical.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 24, 2020 9:29 PM |
Pete of course.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 24, 2020 9:30 PM |
Just those two: Pete. I agree with AOC more but she'd have more trouble playing the game.
I know OP stated her boundaries, but I will say, it shouldn't be either, for at least 10 years.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 24, 2020 9:31 PM |
Without hesitation, Pete.
AOC needs more experience and frankly needs to polish the rough edges if she wants to have broader appeal.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 24, 2020 9:32 PM |
Honestly, not sure AOC should ever be president. A strong, intelligent, leftist who can always be a voice in the Democratic Party for pushing toward progressivism. but President actually is a specific job. We tend to ignore that when, like here, we're doing our version of fantasy football.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 24, 2020 9:34 PM |
Pete but would love AOC as his running mate.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 24, 2020 9:34 PM |
They should team to be a real-life Will and Grace, only far sexier and funnier.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 24, 2020 9:34 PM |
AOC.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 24, 2020 9:35 PM |
Gosh, it’s too bad you didn’t think about a poll for this.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 24, 2020 9:36 PM |
AOC 100%. She represents the shift coming with the younger generations, however, Pete should definitely have an important position in her cabinet. He should be given an important position in Biden's potential cabinet too.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 24, 2020 9:38 PM |
I actually want to see Pete in office. And I've said a few times, an unglamorous office like HUD. I think he'd do really well. I think he'd make the world better. I think he's the type. But I'd like to actually see it, and not just have vague and stupid emotions like, he's gay, so I like him.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 24, 2020 9:40 PM |
Pete. AOC is a Russian stooge, hired, like Bernie, to create "the Tea Party of the Left".
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 24, 2020 9:42 PM |
Peter. AOC will forever be plagued with the lie that she's from The Bronx, when she grew-up in in a upscale Westchester County town, And a thief - Stole tips when she was a waitress and bar wench.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 24, 2020 9:45 PM |
oh fucking christ r19, just fuck off with your nonsense you stupid worthless cunt.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 24, 2020 9:46 PM |
Definitely Pete, not AOC - All Out Crazy!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 24, 2020 9:49 PM |
Pete. He's smarter and he's a veteran.
AOC would be fine as VP, the right says stupid shit about her but she's actually just a garden-variety liberal pol in most parts of the world. Here people get hysterical but they can and should be ignored.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 24, 2020 9:50 PM |
Pete.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 24, 2020 10:07 PM |
Tough choice. I can't decide now. I'd lean towards AOC, because she'll be much more aggressive. But, we'll see how/if she matures enough.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 24, 2020 10:09 PM |
Pete.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 24, 2020 10:32 PM |
Pete.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 24, 2020 10:34 PM |
Pete in a heartbeat. The other is a fucking nut and dumb as a rock.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 24, 2020 10:34 PM |
Pete, because he's proudly Christian without forcing it on people.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 24, 2020 10:36 PM |
Pete. Come on.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 24, 2020 10:37 PM |
I'm hoping somehow Pete ends up doing an end-run around KH.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 24, 2020 10:40 PM |
Pete
by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 24, 2020 10:41 PM |
goddamn, people are still as stupid as they were in 2016. Voting with their stupid dicks and their stupid beliefs that only somebody who is exactly like them should ever be president. so fucking stupid.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 24, 2020 10:58 PM |
AOC and Pete could actually have an interesting debate about the future of the Democratic Party and the where we want to go. They will never have that debate, because morons voting for moron reasons will decide the entire election is about other things. That is truly tragic.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 24, 2020 11:02 PM |
R7 - Why do you think AOC is a 'bitch' as you say?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 24, 2020 11:05 PM |
You Pete cultists can't even see AOC as a person, can you? You are so caught up in stupid nonsense, you can't even consider the actual question, can you?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 24, 2020 11:06 PM |
Oh, shut up, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 24, 2020 11:09 PM |
AOC. No question.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | October 24, 2020 11:21 PM |
been thinking about Democracy itself lately. Been getting very depressed.
I think we will make the right decision this November, but damn, I think it took covid bitch slapping us in a major way, and that worries me.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | October 24, 2020 11:23 PM |
Buttigieg is a complete establishment stooge, which is a shame for the son of a gramsci specialist.
So Ocasio it is, despite the fact that she's just a reformist.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | October 24, 2020 11:37 PM |
Good lord, they've already started a pre-emptive campaign against AOC.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | October 24, 2020 11:43 PM |
AOC. She is street smart and gets right to the point.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | October 25, 2020 12:03 AM |
AOC is not yet old enough for the Presidency.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | October 25, 2020 12:25 AM |
Pete is still hated by the far Left. They’re still trashing him.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | October 25, 2020 12:57 AM |
I despise AOC and would never vote for her.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | October 25, 2020 1:49 AM |
AOC, She annoys the fuck out of me sometimes but we have had 45 men as President and one of them was most likely gay. It is time for a woman. Pete can be her VP.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | October 25, 2020 2:27 AM |
AOC. She has a higher "up side."
by Anonymous | reply 46 | October 25, 2020 2:31 AM |
Pete. Sharp as heck and not impossibly radical. (Only candidate on stage sharper was Andrew Yang) AOC is charismatic and the oldsters on the right hate her (mainly because they're old and she's young) but robotically left on every single issue.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 25, 2020 2:37 AM |
R47 well, she's consistent, but I'd argue not robotic at all. In fact it's her strength to be human, approachable, witty, disarming... in communication, but in person and social media. She's the snappiest twitter communicated in Congress.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | October 25, 2020 2:41 AM |
Definitely not Pete.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | October 25, 2020 2:43 AM |
Pete! Better policy, better comportment.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | October 25, 2020 2:48 AM |
Pete. I admire AOC's chutzpah but Pete is way more intelligent and a better communicator.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | October 25, 2020 2:52 AM |
If you look at it right now, today, it's Pete by a mile. If he was the "designated survivor" or whatever they call it at the State of the Union, and everyone else died, it would be okay. If Pete had to walk into the presidency instantly, I think he could handle it. He's a combat veteran. He's intellectually strong and he's made a name for himself as a national figure with his performance this past year.
That's not a knock on AOC. She's an up and comer but she's still young, still new at it. She is a FIRST TERM CONGRESSWOMAN with no previous experience in government. She's got to acquire more experience, more skills and more political weight.
Pete's in a stronger position, that's not a sexist put-down, it's reality.
At the same time, Kamala was in a stronger position for VP, it's reality.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | October 25, 2020 2:54 AM |
You couldn't ask this question in poll form OP?
6 months ago I would've chosen Pete but I pick AOC now as she has proved herself worthy in her many right wing responses.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | October 25, 2020 3:09 AM |
Pete all day. AOC is way overrated and classless, while Pete is briliant and refined
by Anonymous | reply 54 | October 25, 2020 3:15 AM |
R54 Nobody cares about being "refined" except you.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | October 25, 2020 3:30 AM |
Both are brilliant. Pete is more presidential material. He's calm, measured and unifying. AOC is sharp and would be better as speaker or Senate Majority Leader.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | October 25, 2020 3:31 AM |
R56 And yet he didn't get the nom.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | October 25, 2020 3:33 AM |
I was thinking about AOC as Speaker too.
We shouldn't wish it on her, it's a fucking mountain to climb for sure but... she'd be so sharp, so tough, it would be a thing of beauty.
It could also blow up in her face - you've got to make deals and compromises too.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | October 25, 2020 3:34 AM |
Peed. I’m afraid this country is still not ready for a woman to be president. And I think she needs to learn some manners in order to not turn everyone off. Dad said she does have some good ideas.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | October 25, 2020 3:49 AM |
What nincompoops keep pushing AOC like she's some political genius? She won her first primary with a total of like 12 thousand votes and other than telling everyone what they're doing wrong, supporting fools like Bernie Sanders and being Miss Sassypants on Twitter, she hasn't actually accomplished a god damned thing!
As far as POTUS, don't people think she should pass even one piece of legislation in the House first?
If she runs for the Senate against Chuck Schumer she will lose badly in the primary and her shine will be gone forever. I can't wait!
by Anonymous | reply 60 | October 25, 2020 4:01 AM |
Pete. AOC is a moron.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | October 25, 2020 4:03 AM |
Pete by a mile!
I don't think AOC has the charisma to lure enough people to vote for her. She's too niche for my taste, plus, she still has a lot to prove. She's too polarizing in her first two years already.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | October 25, 2020 4:22 AM |
Pete. AOC and her "squad" are horrible.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | October 25, 2020 5:27 AM |
If the question is who should run on the Democratic ticket, then probably Pete has a better chance of winning. But if you are asking who we would prefer (if the person could suddenly magically) become president, then either one would do, because both are intelligent, articulate, empathetic advocates for the average American.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | October 25, 2020 6:02 AM |
I think AOC is sufficiently intelligent to know that running in a statewide primary against Schumer is political suicide. I doubt she can win anything outside her own Bronx district. Much like Beto in that regard.
Pete at least won the statewide Iowa caucuses.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | October 25, 2020 10:10 AM |
Schumer? He's not gonna win against any young progressive challenger. He will go the way of the dinosaur.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | October 25, 2020 10:16 AM |
Upstate Democrats and Long Island Democrats are not voting for AOC. Plus she's not getting all NYC voters. Schumer's got the Democratic machine behind him, Black women in Brooklyn would vote for him.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | October 25, 2020 10:21 AM |
^conventional wisdom v unconventional challenger. After Trump reelection my moneys on any young pogressive challenger.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | October 25, 2020 10:31 AM |
PETE
by Anonymous | reply 69 | October 25, 2020 10:51 AM |
AOC because I’m from the U.K. originally and I don’t see her as the radical left in any way shape or form. She is garden variety centre-left to me. So is Bernie.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | October 25, 2020 12:06 PM |
Gotta go with Slayer Pete.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | October 25, 2020 12:14 PM |
AOC. Because she's fiercely smart, and is completely unapologetic about it. I have no time for Pete's performative humbleness, done just to appease stupid people and to appear less threatening to Dee Plorable and her hick husband in Bumfucke, Iowa,
Also because she's a woman.
And for all Pete's laudable qualities, I abhor militarism.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | October 25, 2020 12:20 PM |
R1, american politics is a shambles because of drama cunts like r1.
My choice? Both, if they can’t get along on the same ticket, then they don’t deserve to run
by Anonymous | reply 73 | October 25, 2020 12:21 PM |
Pete. AOC as vice-president.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | October 25, 2020 12:21 PM |
AOC on Jake Tapper right now.
She's no wild-eyed liberal, she's run of the mill. I'd still pick Pete but there's nothing wrong with AOC.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | October 25, 2020 1:42 PM |
Pete as pres with AOC as VP , then AOC for 8 years of president would move this country to the 21st century. We need new blood not the old guard. It's a new day.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | October 25, 2020 2:17 PM |
Pete
by Anonymous | reply 77 | October 25, 2020 2:43 PM |
Pete. AOC has good intentions but her ego is too involved.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | October 25, 2020 2:51 PM |
R79 What evidence is there that her "ego" is "too involved" more than any other politician? A young woman, a latina, she is the object of personal attack more than most first term congress members - and she has been strong, witty, articulate in response.
A lot of the MAGA-adjacent anger focused on her (more than a whiff of which stinks up this thread) is the problem people have with a young latina "not knowing her place."
by Anonymous | reply 79 | October 25, 2020 3:03 PM |
AOC.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | October 25, 2020 4:01 PM |
Pete. I cannot stand AOC and think she and the rest of the far-left will hobble Biden's administration in the first two years, so much so that the Senate may go back to the GOP in 2022.
I also think AOC will run against Schumer in 2022, claiming he did nothing of value while Senate Majority Leader.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | October 25, 2020 4:12 PM |
And she would be right. Schumer is past his use by date.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | October 25, 2020 4:52 PM |
R79 People subconsciously have a problem with women imo. The 2 most loathed figures by the Repubs are AOC and Pelosi. They are already calling Kamala 'headboard Harris' and trying to discredit her that way. Same old, same old. Some people think they are fairly progressive and open minded but subconsciously they react negatively to a woman who shows ambition or speaks out.
IMO there is no 'far left' in the US. If Bernie, AOC and the squad and far left then really that just highlights how far to the Right the Republican party is! I watched a Bernie speech last night and some of his ideas would even be accepted by the Tories.
But it's an exciting time. I was naturalized in 2015 so this is my second election but I am energized. I think the Democratic party is the future of Texas. I think one of the silver linings of young people being priced out of NY and CA is that they are moving to red and purple states - more good news for the future. We have young Dems like Pete and AOC who get the situation on the ground in the average household. As Bernie said last night if the Dems do not learn from this the next Trump will be far worse. I agree with this and the young people are there now and ready to make these changes. Trumpism and populist dictators like him will be waiting in the wings as long as people keep getting the vapors over the 2% of the country who earn 400K getting a tax break, as long as 6 figure earners keep pretending they are middle class.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | October 25, 2020 4:54 PM |
R83 here. Tax raise I meant.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | October 25, 2020 4:56 PM |

“She did go to college, right?” Trump says in taunt of @aoc during his second rally in PA, where he hopes to boost turnout of non-college-educated voters in support of his candidacy. - Maggie Haberman
[quote]I could say yes, but who cares? Plenty of people without college degrees could run this country better than Trump ever has.
[quote]As much as GOP cry about “elites,” they’re the ones who constantly mock food service workers, people w/o degrees, etc as dumb. It’s classist & disgusting. - AOC
I think that's pretty good. And I'd prefer she stay in the House. She does some good there.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | October 27, 2020 1:02 AM |
AOC. Pete is fine but lacks vision. Also I will trust someone from a middle class home who worked their way up than someone from the upper crust any day of the week
by Anonymous | reply 91 | October 28, 2020 10:07 PM |
Pete.
AOC is a young Bernie Sanders. Some people fanatically love her and can’t understand why 100% of all humanity doesn’t love her.
Everybody else wouldn’t vote for her, either because they disagree with everything she says, or because they know she’s unelectable for higher office and don’t want to throw their vote away on the female George McGovern.
People like AOC are the type of people that can spend decades in Congress and do a lot of good by bringing attention to left wing causes. But their main support is very localized and they can’t carry a majority of states, because too many states are either Republican or moderate. Their main strength is writing bills and getting them passed. Presidents have a different job, uniting the country. The country is never going to unite behind a far left wing, extremely polarizing individual.
As it is, Biden is moderate and there are Trumpers all over the place calling him a radical socialist and saying the country will never be socialist. If that’s what they say about moderate Biden, what would they say about AOC? Trump would probably come out of retirement to call her a Satan-worshipping devil that wants to drag the U.S. to hell. He always projects.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | October 28, 2020 10:15 PM |
Here's the real test. Can anyone name a Mayor Pete policy they support? His campaign wasn't based on ideas. Just the theory that voters wanted someone from the "Heartland" who was also young and fresh. Btw that theory eventually proved to be untrue

by Anonymous | reply 104 | October 29, 2020 7:09 PM |
AOC would finish off the rest of the old right wing conservative guard. They would drop dead the moment she's being sworn in. And the new generation of conservatives would cry about the devastating virtue signaling that surely is the ruin of the US.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | October 29, 2020 7:48 PM |
Pete has proven himself to be quite the speaker who claps back at critics. Speaker of the House would be a perfect fit for him.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | October 29, 2020 7:50 PM |
Pete has a political vision different from but inclusive of different kinds of liberals. So nothing less than the Oval Office for him.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | October 29, 2020 7:55 PM |
No question...Pete! Although I like AOC, she is too rigid in her beliefs. Pete is more open-minded and willing to listen to all sides before making a decision. He thoughtfully weighs all the pros and cons. AOC thinks it's got to be her way or the highway.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | October 29, 2020 8:14 PM |
R72 AOC may be fierce but she definitely isn't "fiercely smart." And I do think that Pete is the right amount of humble for someone as intelligent as he is.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | October 30, 2020 8:10 PM |
I like Pete and think he has a lot to be proud of but LMAO at the suggestion he is in any way humble. That's a good thing because I find fake humility grating. I just don't see how anyone could have that perception of Pete
