I liked the movie quite a bit. Sad to hear about the older woman, she came off very well in the scene she was in. As for the Rudy stuff, I cringed my way through it. It was very entertaining, and it was interesting to see some what some parts of the states were like during the pandemic. Oh, and those two rednecks just happened to be staying together during lockdown? I didn't see a wedding ring on either of them... they were totally banging.

Finally, I think the Rudy angle has taken center stage with this movie, but in reality it was a nice family film about a man and his daughter. Lolz

I totally recommend it, and it's only an hour and a half. Golden Globes for SBC and Maria Bakalova. Hell, give Tom Hanks a nod too!

The more I think about it, the more impressed I am with Maria Bakalova.

SBC has been doing Borat for, what, 20 years? She not only had to do these complicated characters but improvise in some incredibly tense situations.

It's not only Rudy, but in an online clip SBC posted today, Maria got into the White House with NO security check and is seen meeting Donald Trump Jr. at another event while in character.

It's as much her movie as SBC's movie (to his credit) and she just aces the whole thing with complete aplomb.

Just finished watched this! Maria Bakalova was just spectacular. Infinitely watchable. She drove much of the film rather than Cohen. Hopefully she'll go a long way.

The scene with Giuliani was beyond repulsive. He definitely thought he was going to have sex with her - there's no question about it. He was touching her body and lying on the bed "tucking his shirt back in"... No question about it - he thought he was getting a fuck or a blow job. It was very uncomfortable and repulsive viewing. He is obviously a man who is used to doing that sort of thing. What a pig.

Judith was fucking delightful and I was sorry to see that she had passed away in the credits. I wanted a hug from her. I wanted to give her a hug from me.

I was very surprised that those two QAnon/Trump voters guys actually turned out to be really nice, genuinely kind and patient people (when you get past the Trump thing and the Clinton's blood drinking thing - that was some batshit crazy stuff). I thought they might turn out to be gays. Their house was so damn clean.

I think Maria will get an Oscar nomination.

The movie is as others described it--I too was taken by how nice the Q-Anon guys were to Borat who was clearly not white. (Funny too they must never have googled Kazakhstan because the Kazakhs are actually all Muslims)

Guys - Ghouliani never changed. He was always like this. He was on his way out as Mayor when 9/11 happened and 9/11 gave him a new image. He was HATED by most decent people in New York. He was always corrupt and vindictive and racist. He's been a horrible human being all his life and when he was Mayor of New York we all knew it.

After 9/11, Giuliani insisted that Bloomberg delay his inauguration by three months so he could continue as "America's Mayor" and lead NYC through its time of crisis. He said he was the only one who could do it.

I hate both Guiliani and Bloomberg but the one thing I admire Bloomberg for was that he wasn't having it and finally threatened to take Bloomberg to court if he persisted. Bloomberg backed down.

The movie was a lot better than I expected, very much skewering the US of A.

The original Borat movie from 2006 (which I watched again last night) kind of foreshadowed the Trump era. I appreciated it a lot more this time around.

This girl is an incredible actress. He plucked her out of nowhere and she has kept her cool in some of the most difficult situations. Deserves a badge of courage. And an Oscar.

I was unimpressed. The first was groundbreaking and funny - in large part to hear people willing to be so anti-PC and ignorant on camera. Now having had a PRESIDENT like that - who has then encouraged a huge portion of the US population to act as blatantly ignorant - it’s totally lost it’s shock or humor. IMO. The father/daughter drama was dumb, boring and took up too much of the movie.

And the Giuliani scene was a contrived, overhyped “gotcha”. I hate the guy and do believe he would hit on a foreign journalist - but the hand down the pants was far from the “jacking off” proof it was hyped as being. Easily portrayed as tucking in shirt. I think they were stopped by Covid and had to find an ending and that is the best they had. Though the Karen /Trump puppet parade was well done and creative.
