Would you like to have a pet Capybara?

I want one so badly!

They are adorable.

The doggies are cute too.

Cute. I've heard they are very playful.

Do they bite?

by Anonymousreply 1October 19, 2020 6:50 AM

And yet I get disparaged the world over... AND I CARRIED A FUCKING PIZZA UP THE GODDAMN SUBWAY STAIRS, MUTHAFUCKAS.

by Anonymousreply 2October 19, 2020 6:51 AM

This one looks pretty docile, R1. But I was wondering the same thing.

I have a feeling that they have really big teeth that could do some damage.

by Anonymousreply 3October 19, 2020 6:52 AM

Lol R2.

Capybaras are NOT rats!

by Anonymousreply 4October 19, 2020 6:52 AM

They can do some real damage if they want to.

Go to bed, youโ€™re DRUNK.

by Anonymousreply 6October 19, 2020 7:11 AM

[Quote]They are superb swimmers and can hold their breath underwater for up to five minutes

What fascinating creatures. I want one, too and I don't feel guilty about it as they typically live far longer as pets than they do in the wild.

by Anonymousreply 7October 19, 2020 7:14 AM

Itโ€™s wrong. They are born free.

by Anonymousreply 8October 19, 2020 7:17 AM

At 1:27, she shares a piece of food (carrot?) with one of those creatures.

They are a wild animal....not domesticated! Potential disease carriers, unpredictable behavior, wild instinct reactions...all reasons to NOT have one.

by Anonymousreply 12October 19, 2020 7:22 AM

Are they in pet shops ?

by Anonymousreply 13October 19, 2020 7:27 AM

They are very friendly with other animals, and yes, they are rodents.

by Anonymousreply 14October 19, 2020 7:40 AM

R12. Yes, they are domesticated

by Anonymousreply 15October 19, 2020 7:45 AM

I always wanted one. I just adore cute things.

by Anonymousreply 16October 19, 2020 7:48 AM

Shit everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 17October 19, 2020 8:00 AM

I just ate too much Berry Cheerios and I feel worse than hungover and now I read this shit.

by Anonymousreply 18October 19, 2020 8:12 AM

I think I might throw up.

by Anonymousreply 19October 19, 2020 8:13 AM

They should roam freely in the wild. Why do you have to enslave and subjugate everything and everyone, OP?

by Anonymousreply 20October 19, 2020 8:21 AM

I love capybaras, they are essentially giant guinea pigs and I would love one as a pet but they are wild animals.

I've seen an agouti in the wild and they are more like big rats.

I also really like wombats.

by Anonymousreply 21October 19, 2020 8:40 AM

Humpback whales are so beautiful and graceful and playful. I want one as a pet.

I sneezed really hard about eight times, the final sneeze ending in a big surprise burp. Then I vomited Berry Cheerios and club soda but not before made it to a relatively decent receptacle. Felt like Linda Blair for those three minutes, but doing much better now. Strangely, while not a fan at first, I feel I owe a debt of gratitude to that chupacabra in OP. It was like a talisman.

by Anonymousreply 23October 19, 2020 9:15 AM

How much?

Does it come with recipes?

by Anonymousreply 24October 19, 2020 10:03 AM

R21 You could have me as a pet, UKGuy!

by Anonymousreply 25October 19, 2020 10:23 AM

The Japanese keep them in zoos, and let them soak in hot springs... lol.

It's quite cute.

They're from tropical climates, so they must love huddling together in the warm bath.

They look like land walruses.

And yeah, it seems that they get along with many other animals.

No, they are animals not the pets. Don't have erotic animals as pets, use the dog, cat or the bunny.

by Anonymousreply 30October 19, 2020 12:04 PM

Do they stink? Like dogs?

by Anonymousreply 31October 19, 2020 12:08 PM

They look like they smell, R31.

Capys also swim in such filthy water! Yuck.

The hot springs bath looks perfect for them. It's clean, warm water.

by Anonymousreply 32October 19, 2020 12:10 PM

There is a woman who breeds them for pets in Arkansas (i know it sounds illegal)

by Anonymousreply 33October 19, 2020 12:12 PM

I really want a pet warthog. Trying to buy one

by Anonymousreply 34October 19, 2020 12:26 PM

R30, no donโ€™t have erotic animals, or exotic ones either.

by Anonymousreply 35October 19, 2020 12:45 PM

R25 can you do any tricks?

by Anonymousreply 36October 19, 2020 1:25 PM

I bet they just shit wherever they damn please.

by Anonymousreply 37October 19, 2020 3:38 PM

Just like the President!

This one is cute (as are the dogs), but it's sort of odd to me that they have such large bodies, but such small, narrow feet. It almost seems to be a detriment.

by Anonymousreply 41October 19, 2020 9:50 PM

if you want one as a pet come to NYC. There are rats this big everywhere here.

by Anonymousreply 42October 19, 2020 10:14 PM

This is one animal I donโ€™t even understand. It looks like an ugly rat on steroids with deformed legs and no tail.

by Anonymousreply 43October 19, 2020 10:17 PM

They look like Edward Gorey creations.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 44October 19, 2020 10:30 PM

They don't act like rats.

They're very lazy and slow. They act more like sloths, in that respect.

It's so cute when they get excited. They start jumping around like fools!

by Anonymousreply 45October 20, 2020 5:30 AM

They're adorable when they're little babies. The one in the OP video walks like its hips are very arthritic.

IMO they just get too big to keep as a house pet. I'd rather have a prairie dog. Now that's a rodent that just gets cuter the older they get.

by Anonymousreply 52October 24, 2020 7:32 AM

I WANT MANY CUTE CAPYBARAS IN MY HOME! OR AT LEAST TWO! MY CAT NEEDS TO BE PUT IN HIS GODDAMN PLACE AND REMINDED THAT HE IS NOT, IN FACT, GOD.

by Anonymousreply 53October 24, 2020 7:37 AM

Ever since I've seen the Bob's Burgers episode where they're taken hostage on a boat whose captain has a pet capybara...no.

But it's a great episode.

by Anonymousreply 54October 24, 2020 7:51 AM

Seriously, R53?

Or are you being sarcastic?

If you're being serious, just look at how nicely they play together at R47.

by Anonymousreply 55October 24, 2020 5:20 PM

I'm quite serious, R55. My cat's head is bigger than Jupiter. He's not your regular nice cat at R47.

by Anonymousreply 56October 24, 2020 6:44 PM

Do people who fist and have these as pets shove them up their hole?

by Anonymousreply 57October 25, 2020 1:19 PM

R57, well Aaron Schock is working his way down to Brazil. Perhaps you can ask him?

Vile creatures.

by Anonymousreply 62November 7, 2020 10:28 PM

I thought they were a myth.

by Anonymousreply 63November 7, 2020 10:42 PM

They mark everything with their feces and urine; like rabbits and guinea pigs, they practice ๐‘๐‘’๐‘๐‘œ๐‘ก๐‘Ÿ๐‘œ๐‘โ„Ž๐‘ฆ (they eat pellets of their own shit in order to reclaim nutrients). They bite. Males are frequently aggressive.

They're like sugar gliders in the sense that they cannot be separated from their primary caretakers; separation, even for a short period of time, causes them great anxiety. They will express their displeasure by shitting all over everything, and by biting. They are very, ๐‘ฃ๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘ฆ needy. Do not get a capybara unless you plan to give your entire life over to them, as have many owners. One capybara-owning couple, their carpeted home destroyed, ripped out all their carpeting and strewed the floor with hay, since this was the kind of environment the capybaras liked best.

Wanna live in a feces-strewn, smelly sty? Own a capybara.

Don't, people. Just ๐‘‘๐‘œ๐‘›'๐‘ก.

Water turtles do that too, red eared sliders always eat their own poop. And NEVER ever add a very small baby turtle to a grown slider tank, especially a slider who grew up alone, they will eat that baby turtle.

R64 = Debbie Downer!

by Anonymousreply 69November 10, 2020 10:29 PM

They brought them into Louisiana in the Depression for food and not only wouldn't the starving people eat them, even the alligators won't eat them.
