Absolutely meaningless. He still has the right to live, work, and benefit completely from German society. Mohammed el Fayed, the owner of The Ritz in London, has been repeatedly denied English citizenship. Doesn't change a thing for him legally.

by Anonymousreply 1010/17/2020

If it’s so meaningless they why do they want citizenship?

by Anonymousreply 1110/18/2020

Citizenship is one thing, but even if a Turk/Syrian/Moroccan is third generation German born they remain Turks, never Germans, to the "real" Germans. All of the European countries are like that which explains the huge number of muslim youth who ran to join Isis. With the latest influx, the fun is just beginning for the western European countries.

[quote]All of the European countries are like that which explains the huge number of muslim youth who ran to join Isis.

Rubbish! Jihad is the 6th pillar of Islam, an intrinsic expression of belief. They were obeying the tenets of their culture.

Citizenship in any EU country gives you the right to work and live in any EU country, in addition to being able to participate in government and having a wider choice of jobs. Citizenship does not affect his personal and social rights or status in Germany.

Shaking hands in the age of COVID-19?

by Anonymousreply 1610/18/2020

R13 Thanks for twisting my comment. If a billion muslims were all waging jihad, I think we'd know it. I'm no fan of any religion btw. My point was that isolated or marginalized minorities become problematic. The melting pot idea of the US still works, for the most part. This idea has never been a part of western Euwopean culture.

by Anonymousreply 1710/18/2020

If I dislike both Christianity and Muslim, am I islamophobic?

by Anonymousreply 1810/18/2020

R17 But those minorities are the ones who need to do the main effort to integrate.

When you are in another country you know you are going to be rejected by some (i remember an aggression of a spanish woman in the UK, curiously the aggressor was of jamaican ancestors not exactly what you expect of a far right british) but you are the one who want to be in that society. Some people will accept you some others are just bigots.

If you are not able to do something so simple as shaking hands with a woman it's pretty clear you have no interest of being german beyond your personal benefit

Yep. Germany is ALLLLL about bloodlines.

by Anonymousreply 2110/18/2020

[quote]If a billion muslims were all waging jihad, I think we'd know it.

Muslims have been waging jihad all over Europe, Asia and Africa for decades. From Spain to Russia, from Tunisia to Nigeria, from Mali to Kenya, from England to India. It is astonishing that you've completely missed all of it.

{quote]My point was that isolated or marginalized minorities become problematic.

It has nothing to do with isolation or marginalization and everything to do with contempt for Western society and its values. Other minorities in Europe have found a modus vivendi, respecting the host culture and living in peace. That doesn't happen with Muslims, whether in Europe, Asia or Africa.

Islam is not a "religion", but rather the foundation of a culture, way of life and lifestyle. For Muslims in Muslim countries, there is nothing else but Islam 24/7. The mind boggles at the insane stupidity of governments who believed that accepting people for whom freedom, diversity and choice are anathema would be beneficial for their societies.

Esp when they start cutting the heads off people, they become very marginalized.

by Anonymousreply 2610/18/2020

[quote][R23] Truer things were never spoken. All this shit to save money on labor.

"All this shit to save money on labor" is a broad economic necessity.

Since the collapse of serfdom and the trend throughout Europe meaning workers expect something approaching a living wage, cheap (brown) labor is a necessity for a moderate-high nationwide standard of living. It's not like Germans can hire, for example, the Greeks, who have a poor work ethic and don't care to move to Germany.

[quote]It'll come back to bite them on the ass [R23]/[R24].

It will bite them on the ass more if their economies collapse.

Ethnic infighting and the most foreign-seeming minority pissing off the locals has been the absolute norm in Europe for at least 1500 years. The proportion of fundamentalist Muslims feuding with the local infidels is considered worth it so long as Muslims as a whole create capital. I know this sounds cynical, but it's the truth.

[quote] Just like it did for the Dutch and the English.

The British population is hammered by "We Love The NHS" propaganda and little George and Charlotte and Louis applauding on Zoom to show their appreciation of/to appease the foreign nurses and care workers who make up the healthcare service. Sure, Anwar might belong to a dodgy mosque but Zainab is a dental hygenist! It's quid quo pro.

Orthodox Jews have the same rules. You cannot shake the hand of someone of the opposite sex.

Would Germany dare to deny them citizenship?

If it did, DLers would be the first to yell antisemitism

by Anonymousreply 3610/18/2020

Oppressing females is pretty much what all dictatorships do, whether religious or political ones. In Christianity it already started with Adam and Eve; the female is evil because she is the seducer who brings in the evil and sex is evil.

Putin decriminalizing domestic violence, China forces its women to bind their feet so they can't run away, Islam cuts of the clitoris of young females so they don't masturbate, because sex is reserved only to men. The list of female oppression is as long as human history. However most cultures, esp western ones, have overcome these notions and are on a path of gender equality. Islam however never reformed because of its absolutist views that aren't allowed to be questioned.

by Anonymousreply 3710/18/2020

“Orthodox Jews have the same rules. You cannot shake the hand of someone of the opposite sex.

Would Germany dare to deny them citizenship?” R36

Good point but after exterminating 6 million Jews it is doubtful they dare deny citizenship.

On the other hand the whole mess of the migration crisis in Germany in 2015 was caused by the guilt Germans felt by the Holocaust. Never again !!

R22 Thank you, you spot on !!! He got immediatly on my nerves with his racist stupid card. Some American like to play fool. I mean just come in Europe see by yourself the way muslim are behaving and then you'll be allow to open your ignorant mouth.

After the death of a teatcher who died by slaughter by a Chechen and indoctrinated by the Salafists from North Africa and Turkey, the French are at a turning point. Either Macron reacts with massive deportation and forfeitures of massive nationalities, or it is civil war. I have never been so angry. Charlie Hebdo, then I've lost 3 friends at the Bataclan attacks and then there was the Nice's attack (French Riviera), and several other crimes and attacks still linked to Islam. A homophobia that breaks down, a filthy mysoginy coming all the time from the same community. Some people forget that terrorism has shed a lot of blood in Europe, and especially in France, which has been extremely generous in terms of immigration. But not only do they not adapt, they refuse to assimilate, but in addition they would like to rewrite our history. Blasphemy no longer exists in France because we have experienced a bloody guerilla war between Catholics and Protestants, secularism has existed since our revolution to separate the church from the state. But these people put their religion above the laws of the Republic. It can't work. Enough !

by Anonymousreply 50Last Monday at 5:17 PM

I hope Macron does react with deportations. Because if he doesn't the far right (along with the far left, both sponsored by Russia) will start to dominate the political landscape in France.

I said this before. I truly believe that Putin exacerbated the Syrian civil war by supporting Assad because he knew this would lead to a huge refugee wave into Europe. He knew Merkel would not say no because she was afraid of pictures of suffering children and then everybody would be pointing their fingers at Germany again.

Putin knew a million young Muslim males shoved into a modern western society would be a problem, that it would lead to a rise in right wing parties and vote splitting which then would weaken the centrists as a consequence making it easier to destabilize Europe, which is Russia's ultimate goal.

Putin now is best friends with Erdogan, selling his Russian weapons to NATO membership country Turkey.

It's the 3D chess playing that people like Hillary have been talking about for years. Putin never not knows how to use a conflict to his benefit!

by Anonymousreply 53Last Tuesday at 2:15 AM

r40, but it's right. Nothing has changed. Social suffering has always been the trade off for a bustling economy. The US government, the French government, the UK government none of them *really* care if a few extremists get their knives out provided that 98% of Muslims are normal tax payers.

by Anonymousreply 54Last Tuesday at 2:21 AM

R14, only the smartest goat stayed put a top the tree and survived.

Interesting take about being led to slaughter, and the tree of “life”, huh?

by Anonymousreply 55Last Tuesday at 2:31 AM

[quote]The US government, the French government, the UK government none of them *really* care if a few extremists get their knives out provided that 98% of Muslims are normal tax payers.

The Euro governments are sunk into a social/political quagmire of their own making via empty-headed migrant and human rights policies going back to the 1990s, policies which were exacerbated by the EU and Mutti Merkel's "jeder wilkommen" debacle. And that quagmire gets deeper and more hazardous, due to the thousands of "refugees" showing up on Europe's shores every week.

It's not "a few extremists getting their knives out". It's weekly attacks, murders and terror with knives, acid, vehicles, guns and bombs. The only solution for the local population is to vote out those parties who have ignored and continue to ignore their concerns.

Deportation is not a viable option again due to EU migrant and human rights policies. The process is LONG and often unsuccessful, unless the deportee voluntarily agrees to be repatriated back from whence he came or to a third-party country. In 2019, there were about 600,000 illegals in the EU, 492,000 illegals had been ordered to leave, 142,000 are recorded as actually having left.

by Anonymousreply 56Last Tuesday at 2:53 AM

[quote]It's not "a few extremists getting their knives out".

But it literally is.

[quote] It's weekly attacks, murders and terror with knives, acid, vehicles, guns and bombs. The only solution for the local population is to vote out those parties who have ignored and continue to ignore their concerns.

A liberal estimation shows under than 0.007% of France's Muslim population is incarcerated. A significant proportion of the population are worried , but because although terrorist knife attacks in the name of Allah are highly dramatic and weird, the majority of the public will not vote ultra-right because of them.

The fact that centre-right governments tend to be in power more than far-right ones back this up: the public will tolerate non-criminal Muslims because the economy is more important to them.

by Anonymousreply 57Last Tuesday at 3:35 AM

R53 What do you mean by "someone have to clean the Louvre" ? For your information, most of the Arts in the Louvre are possessions acquired by the Kingdom of France together. France has 2000 years of history. We are not in Stolen Lands and at least have been decolonizing for a long time now. When will you return their lands to the Native Americans? Ah yes, ignorant people like you spend their time cultivating hatred for others but do not have the necessary knowledge to be able to argue. And then, Arabs were the first to colonize North Africa and to have enslaved black people in their own continent, for 14 centuries. We never hear your loudmouths regarding the ultra racist behavior of North Africans as well as Arab countries towards blacks. The slavery continues in Libya, in Mauritania and we are in 2020. [quote] The two most polluting countries are China and the United States. Not Europe. Plus, the United States has come out of the Paris agreements and welcome far fewer migrants than the Europeans. The majority of migrants who come to Europe are not climate refugees.

It doesn't matter who worsened the climate crisis, but it mainly stemmed from the west, including Europe. Certainly, per capital, the US' is the worst in the world, by far, but migrants are moving to whatever is closest. And yes, most of the migrants are climate refugees in some aspects--wars and such are started because climates are no longer hospitable to given you all your resources. This is exactly what's happening in the Middle East.

[quote]the public will tolerate non-criminal Muslims because the economy is more important to them.

The public will "tolerate" Muslims because it has no other choice. Its governments are disinterested and unresponsive, and terror has served its purpose in instilling fear in the populace, which is well aware that there are around 6 million Muslims in France alone.

Financial incentives are not the imperative you place on them.

by Anonymousreply 67Last Tuesday at 6:05 AM

[quote] France shoots its Muslim terrorists dead. Saves embarrassing public trials and political fallout. To say nothing of France's penchant for turning a blind eye, with its "well what can one do" shrug rather than confronting its social problems.

If you don't accept that most Muslim criminals are imprisoned and if you claim that the French turn a blind eye to social problems, then there's the proof that the French public by and large do not find the Muslim population as a major inconvenience on their lives and identity, but rather as just another aspect of society they live with, good and bad.

[quote]Financial incentives are not the imperative you place on them.

The "poor" don't have the money required to pay traffickers. Nor do they have the money to buy false documentation, as was done in Turkey, when Syrian documents moved you to the head of the "refugee" line. Nor do they have money for mobile phones.

"Disenfranchised" describes everyone in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, and yet the vast majority remained in their countries.

[quote]Those directly affected by the war and have lost everything are more likely to migrate,

Those directly affected by war move to a part of their country unaffected by war. Or are cared for in UN/NGO refugee camps, until they can return to their homes. Few have "lost everything" and there is always an extended family back home to rebuild and take care of their local interests. Thousands of "Syrian refugees" have accepted a "financial incentive" to return to their "war-torn" homes because their treatment and the freebies were not as they expected.

They are not "refugees" suffering discrimination, persecution or the threat of extermination. They are economic invaders looking for an easier life away from their failed societies.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Don't you just LOVE clicking on these things on every single site you visit? I know we do! You can thank the EU parliament for making everyone in the world click on these pointless things while changing absolutely nothing. If you are interested you can take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT and we'll set a dreaded cookie to make it go away. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
