Can you machine wash adhesive velcro?

I want to put some on a few items of clothing in lieu of sewing, but I'm worried that it might not stay on in the wash. There's not a lot of info out there. Any of you have experience with this? I'd be line drying them, so there's no worry about them going through a dryer.

Sounds like a bad idea.

Sew on velcro would be better, if you have to use velcro.

Why do you need velcro on your clothes, OP?
