Netflix “Hillbilly Elegy” starring Amy Adams and Glenn Close - OMG!

It’s like a parody of an Awards Bait movie!

[italic]Sordid Lives[/italic] meets [italic]Kath and Kim[/italic]!

by Anonymousreply 1October 14, 2020 1:38 PM

Damn, did Amy put on weight for this role or did she just pack on some pounds?

by Anonymousreply 2October 14, 2020 1:40 PM

I thought that was Amy Schumer.

by Anonymousreply 3October 14, 2020 1:43 PM

Glenn has never looked better!

by Anonymousreply 4October 14, 2020 1:53 PM

This is every DL'ers Southern Grandma and Aunt .

by Anonymousreply 5October 14, 2020 1:58 PM

Like hell, R5. Those people are Pure-D trash!

by Anonymousreply 6October 14, 2020 2:04 PM

I refused to read his book because he's a Repug asshole and his social analysis wasn't very complex or deep.

But if they went more in this direction for the film.....I may be enticed to watch.
This is every DL'ers Southern Grandma and Aunt .

Not really the South, though. This is western PA, W Virginia, Ohio......Appalachia........

by Anonymousreply 7October 14, 2020 2:05 PM

I’ll be watching. Amy Adams is my favorite actress. Being from hill billy NC I could relate to a lot! Glenn close looks like me great aunt.

by Anonymousreply 8October 14, 2020 2:09 PM

Looks good.

by Anonymousreply 9October 14, 2020 2:11 PM

Damn. The guy playing the older version of the son is HOT.

by Anonymousreply 10October 14, 2020 2:11 PM

Is this Glenn Close's version of August: Osage County?

by Anonymousreply 11October 14, 2020 2:14 PM

Glorification of the trailer park trash lifestyle, and alas poor downtrodden white people bullshit.

Pass.

by Anonymousreply 12October 14, 2020 2:15 PM

The books is actually supposed to be pretty good.

His take on the true drivers of the shift from strongly democrat to rabidly rethug for that population are interesting if a little superficial.

by Anonymousreply 13October 14, 2020 2:20 PM

SPOILER ALERT...

After a lifetime of trials and tribulations, the whole family comes together to vote for Donald Trump.

by Anonymousreply 14October 14, 2020 2:22 PM

r11 - Bingo.

by Anonymousreply 15October 14, 2020 2:25 PM

Too many Academy Award nominees in this movie, aren't they? But real G in the movie, this movie is DOA for the Oscar for makeup then.

by Anonymousreply 16October 14, 2020 2:30 PM

WOW, Gabriel Basso is playing a lawyer now, Nick Robinson is still in high school. hahahahahahahah

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 17October 14, 2020 2:33 PM

At least G didn't have to sit in the make-up chair for hours or bother with wigs.

by Anonymousreply 18October 14, 2020 2:36 PM

"His take on the true drivers of the shift from strongly democrat to rabidly rethug for that population are interesting if a little superficial."

Making lame excuses and rationalizations for the laziness, stubbornness, arrogance and sheer stupidity/gullibility of his drug addled friends, relatives and neighbors is hardly the sign of a good writer.

by Anonymousreply 19October 14, 2020 2:38 PM

I thought Glenn Close was Cloris Leachman at first glance.

by Anonymousreply 20October 14, 2020 2:44 PM
Is this Glenn Close's version of August: Osage County?

If it is, hopefully it's the good one. Cause Meryl's was freaking terrible.

by Anonymousreply 21October 14, 2020 2:45 PM

Hillbillies and a bombastic score by that hack Hans Zimmer just don't go together well. Bring back the fucking banjos!

by Anonymousreply 22October 14, 2020 2:55 PM

Omg I can’t wait! I haven’t been this excited since I first saw High on Crack Street

by Anonymousreply 23October 14, 2020 3:09 PM

I see Glenn Close is playing a male role again

by Anonymousreply 24October 14, 2020 3:13 PM

So they elevate poverty and ignorance, infuse it with nobility, and ignore the insularity and suspicion that govern their existence...

by Anonymousreply 25October 14, 2020 3:19 PM

The book boiled down to these hillbillies hating Obama, not because he was Black (the very idea!) but because they felt that he and the coastal elite "spoke down to them". Fuck the elegy, let me know when the last of these opiod and meth-addicted wastrels are buried so we pave over the graveyard and put in a Starbucks.

by Anonymousreply 26October 14, 2020 3:26 PM

Is that what this is about? Why white trash hate Obama and love Trump?

Do they realize that Trump is a coastal elite albeit a trashier one than the norm?

by Anonymousreply 27October 14, 2020 3:28 PM

I had a Trumper neighbor named Pam who looked just like Amy Adams does in this movie. Spitting image. She is not very book smart and she's still sending out crazy Trumper shit via FB.

by Anonymousreply 28October 14, 2020 3:31 PM

Thanks but four years of enabled trash is quite enough for me. Hard pass.

by Anonymousreply 29October 14, 2020 3:32 PM

It's the trailer that's making it so corny. The music is too much and they keep showing one dramatic clip after another. They needed to be a bit more chill and let it build up.

by Anonymousreply 30October 14, 2020 3:37 PM

I live in the burbs south of Dayton. I drove through that area of Middletown once on my way back from visiting a cute little nowhere town NE of Cincy. It scared the shit out of me. I was unaware it existed. There is an old steel mill nearby and the whole area is total backwoods. Trump signs everywhere. But a few miles past it and one is back into the shiny bland mid-western sprawl. It was very strange.

by Anonymousreply 31October 14, 2020 3:41 PM

The sweeping music! Too much.

by Anonymousreply 32October 14, 2020 3:42 PM

Any photos of them in costume and makeup - that candid glamor photo of the two at the top of thread isn't helpful

by Anonymousreply 33October 14, 2020 3:58 PM

The movie is getting burned on Twitter

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 34October 14, 2020 4:00 PM

Yay! I started the thread a0 few days go asking if this would finally land Glenn an Oscar. From the trailer it looks like she is co-lead instead of Supporting and may be giving a fantastic performance!

by Anonymousreply 35October 14, 2020 4:01 PM

Too close to home for me.

by Anonymousreply 36October 14, 2020 4:06 PM

Glenn Close is doing a great job as Cloris Leachman.

by Anonymousreply 39October 14, 2020 4:08 PM

I can see an infinite number of Deplorables for free. On YouTube and at my local Wal-Mart.

by Anonymousreply 40October 14, 2020 4:09 PM

R39 There are no pictures of them together anywhere! I think Cloris Leachman as Goodie Phyllis Lindstrom has danced with the devil and dropped 10-20 years from her age which she can magically grow back when she wants to play a wacky senior!

by Anonymousreply 41October 14, 2020 4:12 PM

Oh wait. Glenn Close is now a wacky senior. Oops.

by Anonymousreply 42October 14, 2020 4:13 PM

Look at Glenn thinking she’s Cloris fucking Leachman.

by Anonymousreply 43October 14, 2020 4:13 PM

Sorry. I should have read all the comments first. I guess I’m not alone in my assessment.

by Anonymousreply 44October 14, 2020 4:15 PM

Glenn Close losing again

by Anonymousreply 45October 14, 2020 4:21 PM

YIKES! Is there a John-Boy in this movie?

by Anonymousreply 46October 14, 2020 4:31 PM

R7 "Not really the South, though. This is western PA, W Virginia, Ohio......Appalachia."

The Appalachian South is south of the Mason-Dixon line and southeast of the Ohio River, that was the traditional definition before the App. Regional Commission was created and made everything in the mountain range "Appalachia", which is not a cultural region but a mountain range.

by Anonymousreply 47October 14, 2020 4:33 PM

This is why I wish they had never banned blockbusting.

by Anonymousreply 48October 14, 2020 4:41 PM

I, too, am getting sick and tired of these poor white trash melodramas as if we are supposed to care about any of these “people.“ They are literally everything wrong with America from its inception to the present day, and if we don’t do something drastic to get rid of them, they’re going to drag us all into the gutter with them.

by Anonymousreply 49October 14, 2020 4:42 PM

Amy Adams not playing Tonya Harding was the biggest missed opportunity ever. After that, Rose Byrne not playing Sharon Tate.

by Anonymousreply 50October 14, 2020 4:46 PM

Glenn will definitely win for this. There is not even a hint of the sexy Alex Forest in her.

by Anonymousreply 51October 14, 2020 4:53 PM

The Academy always awards beauties who "ugly up" for role. Glenn is a shoo-in. She ws too polished and pretty in "The Wife".

by Anonymousreply 52October 14, 2020 4:55 PM

My mother used to own glasses like those on Glenn. Then she went blind and died

by Anonymousreply 53October 14, 2020 4:56 PM

Amy has completed her transition into Tonya Harding. They are now one person.

by Anonymousreply 54October 14, 2020 5:00 PM

I want to see this! I love Amy Adams and will watch!

Also: I recall reading that Amy’s mother abandoned Amy and her siblings and just took off when she was a kid. (They re-connected somehow when Amy was an adult, but it was apparently a very traumatic part of her life and screwed up her childhood).

It will be interesting to see what she brings to the part of a fucked up mother character....

by Anonymousreply 55October 14, 2020 5:14 PM

Oscar, come to Mamma!

by Anonymousreply 56October 14, 2020 5:17 PM

Give me bangs and a perm!

by Anonymousreply 57October 14, 2020 5:21 PM

Any nudity?

by Anonymousreply 58October 14, 2020 5:26 PM

Btw, Ron Howard is a *big time*, lifelong Democrat (as is Glenn Close), so there is no way this is going to be some “celebration of Republicanism” as some of you are suggesting.

Howard will cut any political stuff from the book out and just make it an autobiographical family drama. I want to see it.

by Anonymousreply 59October 14, 2020 5:28 PM

No thank you. I prefer my hillbillies to be French.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 60October 14, 2020 5:31 PM

Ron Howard is a terrible director.

by Anonymousreply 61October 14, 2020 5:59 PM
WOW, Gabriel Basso is playing a lawyer now, Nick Robinson is still in high school. hahahahahahahah

Apparently, r17 didn't notice that The Kings of Summer was released in 2013, when Nick Robinson probably WAS still in high school when it was made - since he's only 25 now.

by Anonymousreply 62October 14, 2020 6:10 PM

If it wasn’t for the fucking GOP we could’ve just let the south leave the union without a war so that they would be part of Mexico by 1900 like they deserve. Then the rest of us could have joined Canada and put an end to this nightmare of American imperialism once and for all.

by Anonymousreply 63October 14, 2020 6:11 PM

They give a beautiful woman like Amy the role of a homely looking woman and they "transform" her for the role, when a legion of normal looking woman can't get job and they are forced to get plastic, (and sometimes) bariatric surgery. The diversity means nothing in this cases

by Anonymousreply 64October 14, 2020 6:25 PM

I have a feeling that this is mostly Adams' film and Close will be put in the supporting category.

by Anonymousreply 65October 14, 2020 6:44 PM

It's so charming of y'all to assume this film will be nominated for Academy Awards.

by Anonymousreply 66October 14, 2020 7:01 PM

Uh, I believe the preferred term these days is Hill-william.

by Anonymousreply 67October 14, 2020 7:09 PM

R66 if an awful movie like "The Fighter" can actually win Oscars then it isn't much of a stretch for this one to be nominated. Although it actually helped Melissa Leo that she actually looks like a hillbilly.

by Anonymousreply 68October 14, 2020 7:24 PM

I don’t think the boy is cute and so I shan’t watch.

by Anonymousreply 69October 14, 2020 7:33 PM
Any nudity?

Just Glenn's, unfortunately.

by Anonymousreply 70October 14, 2020 7:33 PM

I don't think the movie is going to be any big celebration of hillbilly trash. I hope it shows them in Full Deplorable Hypocrisy as they claim self-reliance but then have their hands out for all the gubmint cheese they can get, including joining the military.

The trailer does look a bit scenery chewing. Like an Afterschool Special on the dangers of meth.

by Anonymousreply 71October 14, 2020 7:47 PM
I have a feeling that this is mostly Adams' film and Close will be put in the supporting category.

Yes. Hose.

by Anonymousreply 72October 14, 2020 7:52 PM

If Glenn finally wins she will complete her Triple Crown

by Anonymousreply 73October 14, 2020 7:57 PM

by Anonymousreply 76October 14, 2020 8:38 PM

If Glenn's character has a heartfelt deathbed scene where she tearfully reunites the hillbilly family, she can get her tears dry-cleaned out of this gold monstrosity

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 77October 14, 2020 8:52 PM

It would be so fucked up if Amy Adams and Glenn Close were both nominated for Best Actress from this movie (especially when they hold the record for receiving the most nominations without any wins) and lose again.

by Anonymousreply 78October 14, 2020 8:57 PM

Well, has Amy Adams ever got her baps out in pursuit of her art?

by Anonymousreply 79October 14, 2020 9:06 PM

Fuck no. Hard pass.

by Anonymousreply 80October 14, 2020 9:27 PM

It's Glenn playing the Mama's Family version of Mrs. Doubtfire.

by Anonymousreply 81October 14, 2020 9:35 PM

Been there, done that.

by Anonymousreply 82October 14, 2020 9:42 PM

stupid book, starts out autobiiographical about Grandma, etc., gradually becomes more and more about him, pogue marine, GOP strategist dickhead, publicist etc. Probably stupid film as well. Glenn and Amy needed a little more seed money for future ventures I guess. Ron Howard...well, he's Ron Howard.

by Anonymousreply 83October 14, 2020 10:00 PM

Glennie still copying my every move.

I already did this years ago, and better.

by Anonymousreply 84October 14, 2020 10:02 PM

I'll never forget Armond White once called Ron Howard's films Cinema D'Opie.

by Anonymousreply 85October 14, 2020 10:02 PM

Pass.

by Anonymousreply 86October 14, 2020 10:06 PM

Yes. Prankster Ron Howard presents hole during the closing credits. It's very subtle and most people will mistakenly think it's Glenn doing an impression of a shrunken apple head woman.

by Anonymousreply 87October 14, 2020 10:09 PM

A group of writers & artists published a book called "Appalachian Reckoning" as a response to "Hillbilly Elegy". Lots of Appalachian folks thought HE was garbage & have been pretty vocal about it.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 88October 14, 2020 10:11 PM

What R88 said. They MIGHT make a decent movie out of it but a lot of the book is blaming poor people for being poor while billionaires bleed us all dry.

by Anonymousreply 89October 14, 2020 11:24 PM

R63 - If the south had successfully seceded, slavery would still be around ..... or it would have ended much later than it did.

by Anonymousreply 90October 15, 2020 12:44 AM

by Anonymousreply 91October 15, 2020 12:49 AM

Y’all think imma be quiet if this old WHITE bitch win?!

by Anonymousreply 92October 15, 2020 3:10 AM

G's accent was random. Was that a corn-cob pipe she was smoking at the end of the trailer? If Renee won for this hillbilly-inspirational shit in "Cold Mountain", G can probably do the same (for supporting) , and maybe Adams too (for lead). I'm still recovering from "Cold Mountain", so I'd better skip it.

by Anonymousreply 93October 15, 2020 3:29 AM

Oof. This looks like a terrible Lifetime movie.

by Anonymousreply 94October 15, 2020 3:39 AM

Will Amy be acting Glenn under the broken table in the trailer too?

by Anonymousreply 95October 15, 2020 3:53 AM

R91 Do you mean without Academy nominations, right?

by Anonymousreply 96October 15, 2020 4:45 AM

Boyhood meets Forest Gump + Mana’s Family?

by Anonymousreply 97October 15, 2020 5:22 AM

Ron Howard productions are always devoid of gay characters so I assume there be zero gay hillbillies in this one.

by Anonymousreply 98October 15, 2020 5:38 AM

Is Amy a drug addict and the son becomes a Republican, while Glen does comedy bits and busts her chin out when screaming? Oh Glenn. RIP

by Anonymousreply 99October 15, 2020 5:46 AM

I thought this was Cloris Leachman playing Granny in the Beverly Hillbillies again.

by Anonymousreply 100October 15, 2020 5:49 AM

Wow, Twitter really went after the trailer. It will be interesting to see people’s opinions when the film comes out next month.

by Anonymousreply 101October 15, 2020 1:56 PM

Amy Adams is probably the most overrated actress of the past 20 years (and that includes overrated Jennifer Lawrence). When she's good, she's barely passable. When she's not, she's downright awful.

And I thought Glenn was above awards grubbing.

by Anonymousreply 102October 15, 2020 2:13 PM

The only thing Glenn is above is ground. For now.

by Anonymousreply 103October 15, 2020 2:40 PM

Mountain William is correct R67.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 104October 15, 2020 3:31 PM

I agree that Adams is very milquetoast but anyone who's been in Drop Dead Gorgeous gets a lifetime pass from me (yes, unfortunately that also includes that crazy cunt Kirstie Alley).

by Anonymousreply 105October 15, 2020 3:33 PM

So Glenn is playing Granny and Amy is Elly May? Who is playing Jed and Jethro?

by Anonymousreply 106October 15, 2020 3:45 PM

Rural Juror

by Anonymousreply 107October 15, 2020 3:51 PM

Why isn't the movie released yet? The Netflix link just goes to a preview with no release date. WTF?

by Anonymousreply 108October 15, 2020 4:11 PM

I think November 28

by Anonymousreply 109October 15, 2020 4:34 PM

I went to see 'Yellow Rose' in the theatre yesterday (I was the only one in the audience of a 3pm matinee...the film was cute and heartfelt). One of the previews was for 'Nomadland' starring Frances McDormand, being released in December. Literally the whole 30-second trailer was her quietly walking thru an RV park, and only speaking to one lady very briefly. I immediately thought to myself, "There's her third Oscar." Frances doesn't need a trailer chock-full of chewing the scenery and impersonating the Terminator to win her third Oscar...she literally walked thru an RV park and simply *acted*. Poor Glenn...this might do her in, although as someone mentioned above, they'll submit her in the Best Supporting Actress category. Even then, she might get beat by Anna Kendrick for 'Trolls: World Tour'.

by Anonymousreply 110October 15, 2020 4:43 PM

R102 sure thinks he is something.

by Anonymousreply 111October 15, 2020 4:45 PM

Freida Pinto is in this? Is she playing the Indian Hillbilly from across the street?

by Anonymousreply 112October 15, 2020 6:39 PM

The author of the book married an Indian woman and moved to San Francisco R112.

by Anonymousreply 113October 15, 2020 6:41 PM

I’d rather see a dramatic adaption of The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia. Glenn could play Bertie Way who weeps where her children get high at her birthday party. Amy could play Sue Bob “the sexy one” and they could even include Jennifer Lawrence as Mousie or Kirk

by Anonymousreply 114October 16, 2020 5:04 AM

Glenn shows her titties

by Anonymousreply 115October 16, 2020 5:08 PM

They are waaaaaay too articulate for hillbillies.

by Anonymousreply 116October 16, 2020 5:11 PM

Glenn will lose again to Olivia Coleman

by Anonymousreply 117October 16, 2020 5:28 PM

Meryl wasn't awful awful in August. She was out acted but it wasn't necessarily her fault. John Wells the director allowed her to act in her own movie. But a lot of the actors followed her into that nonsense. Julia and Margo were acting in an entirely different movie. Closer to the play too.

by Anonymousreply 118October 17, 2020 8:31 AM

Glenn looks just like my Boston-born nana in that photo. Gave me a fright.

Though her wigs were nicer and she wore shirtwaist dresses and pumps like a proper lady.

by Anonymousreply 119October 17, 2020 10:22 AM

Glenn went braless in this, eww

by Anonymousreply 120October 17, 2020 10:30 AM

Get out on the highway Headin' down a mile away Passin' everything in sight

I push it to the max Gettin' ready to relax 'Cause it's gonna be a Saturday night

You can have the fast lane I don't want the stress and strain Gonna leave it all behind

You get a little lazy Afterwards you're crazy Ain't nobody going to mind

Don't need a lot of cash or a flashy car. The folks, they'll take you just the way you are

by Anonymousreply 121October 17, 2020 6:35 PM

Glenn is lead and Adams supporting. Heart it here first.

by Anonymousreply 122October 17, 2020 8:05 PM

“Submit me as lead, goddammit! I will not lose to that horrible horse faced Brit again!!!”

by Anonymousreply 123October 17, 2020 8:08 PM

Glenn is going supporting since she is barely in the film.

by Anonymousreply 124October 17, 2020 8:42 PM

Olivia C. and Anthony H. should have it in the bag.

by Anonymousreply 125October 17, 2020 9:59 PM

If she goes supporting, Glenn is going to have to duke it out with Ellen Burstyn over who will be the more beloved acting veteran. Ellen is getting rave reviews for Pieces of a Woman.. Mary J Blige is also getting buzz for Dinah Washington in Respect and could net her a third oscar nomination. Other contenders include Olivia Colman, Toni Collette, Marisa Tomei, and yes Meryl Streep for The Prom.

If Glenn goes lead, she faces stiff competition from the never rewarded Michelle Pfeiffer, acting legend Sophia Loren, McDormand, Jennifer Hudson, Viola Davis, Kate Winslet and her own costar Amy Adams.

Honestly, she should just film Sunset Boulevard already. It would give an automatic oscar. Does she really want to win for THIS?

by Anonymousreply 126October 17, 2020 10:15 PM

If Laura Dern could win for doing next to nothing in the overrated "Marriage Story" it would be a crying shame for Glenn to lose for this. She's more impressive in this trailer than Dern was in that whole movie.

by Anonymousreply 127October 17, 2020 10:41 PM

Amy Adams and CNN’s Erin Burnett could be sisters.

by Anonymousreply 128October 17, 2020 11:01 PM

I’ve heard nothing about this book, its author or the movie until now.

Thanks, OP, for posting the trailer and bringing it to attention.

This is significant for me as both my parents are boomers from the hollers of West Virginia. My father had an outhouse at home, and I recall going over English grammar books with my Mum’s grandfather who was a coal miner with only a 2nd grade education.

Hence, I have great empathy for the circumstances that the author, JD Vance describes. And I sense with my parents similar threads: they are both Republicans with similar- sounding outlooks. I sense an anger and resentment in the both circumstances that shaped them and the surprising lack of generosity of spirit embodied the hard-right wing ethos.

That said, my folks have been incredibly generous with my sibling and me. Incredibly so; to the point it is hard to reconcile their political leanings with their deeply intimate ones.

My sibling and I are both graduates of higher education (physician and attorney) and are progressive in our outlooks and political beliefs; as well as having lived many places in the world.

I don’t know if I will see the film. The trailer seems overwrought and the Hans Zimmer score too much.

We’ll see.

Also,Usha Chilukuri is the author’s wife. She clerked for Justice Roberts and Kavanaugh. My sibling knows of her through colleagues “on the other side of the fence”.

Lastly, JD Vance recently converted to Catholicism. Wonder what his thoughts are on Amy Covid? Suppose I’d rather not know.

And JD Vance was the protégé of Amy Chua, the Tiger Mom fascist.

Given how many DLers self-report coming from this sort of background, I will be curious to see what the response is on here

by Anonymousreply 137October 20, 2020 1:33 PM

Glenn only has 3 Golden Globes lol

by Anonymousreply 138October 20, 2020 6:24 PM

What's the verdict, DL? Is this shit any good or what? (It's a Ron Howard film, after all.)

by Anonymousreply 139November 26, 2020 9:36 AM

I thought it was Tonya Harding, R3!

The critics are ripping this movie a new asshole. I don't know if G can win her Oscar when the consensus among critics is that the film is a turd.

Then again, critics hated The Iron Lady as well, and M won her third Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 141November 26, 2020 11:21 PM

Glenn get a GG nomination

by Anonymousreply 142November 29, 2020 9:04 PM

Nobody should look this fug on film. It nausiates.

by Anonymousreply 143November 29, 2020 9:08 PM

So I did watch it and it was funny but also made me cry like a bitch. Maybe it’s because its been an emotional month or because I come from trash.

You know there are alcoholics and drug addicts everywhere. There are poor people with no hope, no opportunity everywhere. These people could have been Black, or Brown as well as white. This is the "left behind" population of every fucking state. They exist in upstate New York as much as they exist in Kentucky. Or California or Oklahoma, South Dakota or Mississippi.

And the irony is that Vance, the author, who lives in Cincinnati, is a died in the wool, "Social Conservative" Republican, by his own description, with a wife who clerked for both Brett Kavanaugh and John Roberts. He wants to run for the Senate from Ohio eventually...as a Conservative Republican. Why is this ironic? Because it has been the very policies of the fucking "Social conservative" Republicans that have created this shit with their Uber Capitalism, low taxes bullshit.

The scene in the movie where he is maxing out credit cards to scrape together two weeks in a rehab facility for his mother says it all. The movie shows him sitting in her hospital room begging the doctors and nurses to let her stay longer. They refuse. She has no insurance, so he has a great deal of difficulty finding a rehab facility to transfer her to. It is a very realistic dramatization of what happens to people with no insurance.

I watched the beginning but the son is not appealing and I couldn't get into it but may try again. Glenn was a hoot as granny though.
