Let's be President Biden's cabinet!

I'm White House Chief of Staff Pete Buttigieg.

by Anonymousreply 224October 22, 2020 12:11 AM

OP I'm also hoping for Pete as Chief of Staff.

by Anonymousreply 1October 9, 2020 3:23 PM

I'm Attorney General Adam Schiff.

by Anonymousreply 2October 9, 2020 3:25 PM

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren for Secretary of the Treasury.

by Anonymousreply 3October 9, 2020 3:37 PM

I was hoping for Mayor Pete to be appointed Secretary of Defense.

by Anonymousreply 4October 9, 2020 3:38 PM

Handsome Washington Governor / children's author Jay Inslee for Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.

by Anonymousreply 5October 9, 2020 3:39 PM

We're the emails suggesting the Biden might find a position for NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio.

We go directly into the Junk folder

by Anonymousreply 6October 9, 2020 3:41 PM

I’m Kellyanne Conway.

by Anonymousreply 7October 9, 2020 3:42 PM

I think the Chief of Staff will be a woman. Val Demings or Valerie Jarrett. I think Pete will be Sec of HUD or Ambassador to the UN.

by Anonymousreply 8October 9, 2020 3:44 PM

^^ Sorry. "I am Valerie Jarrett, Chief of Staff" etc

by Anonymousreply 9October 9, 2020 3:45 PM

I am the four years of manipulating the ever so senile acting President.

by Anonymousreply 10October 9, 2020 3:46 PM

[quote]I am the four years of manipulating the ever so senile acting President.

We're imagining the upcoming Biden years, not the past 4 Trump years.

by Anonymousreply 11October 9, 2020 3:53 PM

I’m Secretary of State Susan Rice.

by Anonymousreply 12October 9, 2020 3:57 PM

I like Pete as Chief of Staff, but a Chief of Staff has to know Washington.

Ron Klain.

by Anonymousreply 13October 9, 2020 3:59 PM

Hillary will be ambassador to the UN.

by Anonymousreply 14October 9, 2020 4:00 PM

Nonsense. Hillary doesn’t want a demotion.

by Anonymousreply 15October 9, 2020 4:02 PM

What can we do with Pete?

by Anonymousreply 16October 9, 2020 4:03 PM

The rumour is that Cuomo came out and endorsed Joe early on in exchange for a promise that he'd be COS.

by Anonymousreply 17October 9, 2020 4:06 PM

Another demotion.

by Anonymousreply 18October 9, 2020 4:14 PM

I'm the masks that everyone wears at all times when indoors and the preference for Zoom meetings when possible

by Anonymousreply 19October 9, 2020 4:39 PM

I’m Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas.

by Anonymousreply 20October 9, 2020 4:40 PM

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but I’M the White House Chief of Staff.

by Anonymousreply 21October 9, 2020 4:44 PM

I’m CoS Buttigieg's sly and sexy twink aide, Liam. I’m always telling Chasen that Pete is out of the office when he’s not, then forgetting to pass on the message that he called. Oops...

by Anonymousreply 22October 9, 2020 4:44 PM

I'm Attorney General Sally Yates

by Anonymousreply 23October 9, 2020 4:49 PM

Technically, the cabinet only includes the 15 heads of the various executive branch departments, but I guess Chief of Staff is considered a "cabinet-level" position, even if it's not officially part of the cabinet.

by Anonymousreply 24October 9, 2020 4:54 PM

Valerie Jarrett and Pete will be part of the administration no doubt in my mind. I also think Susan Rice as SoS is a good call. But I agree Ron Klain will be Chief of Staff if he wants it. He may not. I think whoever it is has to be someone who knows Biden and has worked with him for years. Someone familiar. A Truth speaker. And has to have a good relationship with Congress. Klain has those credentials. Biden needs to stay away from people like Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel who are shit on a stick.c Actually Sally Yates would make a great Supreme Court nominee.

by Anonymousreply 25October 9, 2020 4:54 PM

I’m Secretary of Defense Jim Webb

by Anonymousreply 26October 9, 2020 4:55 PM

How about Secretary of Veterans Affairs for Pete?

by Anonymousreply 27October 9, 2020 4:57 PM

In what way is Pete qualified to be chief of staff? Come on.

Biden’s cabinet is going to be stacked with highly experienced people who have been in Washington for years. There’s a TON of cleaning up to do. Pete has no relationships to anyone on the Hill and his only experience is being mayor of a college town.

Ya’ll are delusional.

by Anonymousreply 28October 9, 2020 4:59 PM

r3, we need Warren in the Senate. If she accepts a job in the Biden Administration, her replacement would be appointed by the governor of Massachusetts, who is a Republican.

by Anonymousreply 29October 9, 2020 5:03 PM

I'm an armoire, not cabinet!

[quote]In what way is Pete qualified to be chief of staff? Come on.

Why must every other post about Pete be about how unqualified he is for anything, which is the biggest crock of shit on a site where we all are constantly posting crocks of shit on a daily basis. Give it a rest. And FFS start supporting one of your own for a change.

by Anonymousreply 31October 9, 2020 5:32 PM

Pete will either be in charge of veteran affairs or he will be UN Ambassador.

by Anonymousreply 32October 9, 2020 5:34 PM

Veterans Affairs is no-win. Is he that brave? Also, pretty much the bottom of the pecking order.

by Anonymousreply 33October 9, 2020 5:41 PM

"Department of Children and Youth",

Proposed by me, Marianne Williamson.

by Anonymousreply 34October 9, 2020 5:49 PM

I predict Health and Human Services for Pete.

by Anonymousreply 35October 9, 2020 5:51 PM

[quote]I like Pete as Chief of Staff, but a Chief of Staff has to know Washington.

Chief of Staff isn't a track to the country's top executive position -- and we know Pete has ambitions.

UN Ambassador or Sec of Vet Affairs seem more in line. In any case, a position on track to help his future campaigns.

by Anonymousreply 36October 9, 2020 5:51 PM

Amy Klobuchar - Senate Majority Leader

by Anonymousreply 37October 9, 2020 5:57 PM

[QUOTE] Amy Klobuchar - Senate Majority Leader

If Pete Buttigieg is Secretary of Staff, I doubt he would allow Joe Biden to appoint Amy Klobuchar as Senate Majority Leader. There’s too much bad blood between them.

by Anonymousreply 38October 9, 2020 6:02 PM

r38 Do you really think: (1) there's a position called "Secretary of Staff," and (2) the President appoints the Senate Majority Leader?

by Anonymousreply 39October 9, 2020 6:03 PM

R39, I weep for the lack of civics education in our schools.

by Anonymousreply 40October 9, 2020 6:07 PM

Sally Yates would be an interesting pick for Chief of Staff too. Attorney General, if not.

by Anonymousreply 41October 9, 2020 6:08 PM

Secretary of Starshine, Marianne Williamson

by Anonymousreply 42October 9, 2020 6:11 PM

I'm National Security Advisor Peter Strzok.

by Anonymousreply 43October 9, 2020 6:11 PM

[QUOTE] Do you really think: (1) there's a position called "Secretary of Staff," and (2) the President appoints the Senate Majority Leader?

Then would Pete Buttigieg appoint the Senate Majority Leader, R39?

Biden has people that he has been working with for decades that will be better suited as a a Chief of Staff than Pete.

A. They know DC. A must for that job. It is not a great position for on the job training since they can make or break a presidency.

B. They know Biden and have his trust. Pete is trust worthy as well, but established relationships matter.

C. CoS wastes Pete's oratorial skills because it is primarily a behind the scenes job. That can change, but you really don't want a CoS in front of the cameras a lot.

D. Pete might hive higher political aspirations. CoS builds connections, but running a Department gives him a different set of political power.

Wherever Pete goes, he will be successful!!! He's already scoring points with Democrats that had cooled to him during the Primary with his recent Fox soundbites.

by Anonymousreply 46October 9, 2020 6:20 PM

r14 would that be considered a demotion from SoS? Do you think she would take that type of role?

by Anonymousreply 47October 9, 2020 6:23 PM

I only want hawt politicians as I am a gay. I wish they'd find something for Justin Amash. Maybe UN ambassador. Christian Palestinian, seems about right for him.

by Anonymousreply 52October 9, 2020 6:39 PM

I'll be Chasten (assuming Pete gets a job in Washington). He is secretly helping Kamala'a husband manage being Second Gentleman. Chasten had it all planned, just in case, and the perfect position to get Pete as VP if Kamala ever becomes President

by Anonymousreply 53October 9, 2020 6:42 PM

We're the dozen white house aides in the front row at one of Chasten's many seminars on social media hosted at the White House. We have to humour him because Pete is our boss and getting to the next rung of the ladder is a tough gig.

by Anonymousreply 54October 9, 2020 6:49 PM

Elizabeth Warren might be a good call for Treasury or Interior

by Anonymousreply 55October 9, 2020 7:15 PM

[quote]Sally Yates would be an interesting pick for Chief of Staff too.

CoS will be a Biden operative.

by Anonymousreply 56October 9, 2020 7:19 PM

Pete would do well not to accept any position under Biden. He should prepare for 2024 instead by staying out of the Beltway and remaining in Middle America. He needs to stay away from the corruption and mindlessness of the DNC.

by Anonymousreply 57October 9, 2020 7:19 PM

Still mad about Bernie, r57?

Maybe it's finally time to get over it.

by Anonymousreply 58October 9, 2020 7:25 PM

Jake Sullivan (Biden's National Security Advisor during the Obama years, later a key Hillary Clinton aide who fruitlessly urged her campaign to focus more on the Rust Belt in the dying days of the 2016 race) will resurface as something senior, probably related to National Security or diplomacy.

He was tipped for high office once upon a time himself, too....

by Anonymousreply 63October 9, 2020 7:56 PM

Hillary for the Supreme Court would be good too. Though r15 I don't see why UN ambassador is a demotion. Presidents have gone back to the Senate IIRC.

Also I'm naive and idealistic. I believe if you're in public service you serve the country the best you can and in the capacity where you can give the most. Mrs. Roosevelt went to the UN did she not?

It would be a temporary replacement until a special election is held, R69. And the Democratic legislature in MA can make some changes to speed up that process.

by Anonymousreply 74October 9, 2020 8:57 PM

My guesses:

Adam Schiff as SOS/AG

Sally Yates - AG

Pete - UN Ambassador

Warren - Treasury

Swallwell - Defense

All the fired FBI guys scattered between FBI and Intelligence.

Obama - SCOTUS

Brennan - back in the saddle as either SOS or Justice dept.

by Anonymousreply 75October 9, 2020 8:58 PM

Biden LOVES Pete and constantly talks about how he wants to fill the white house with people like him. Pete will definitely be offered Ambassador to the UN, he's too good for an administrative position like chief of staff. Doesn't matter how little experience you have when you're as intelligent and savvy as Pete.

by Anonymousreply 95October 10, 2020 1:23 AM

Pete could be an advisor to President Biden. As long as Pete is in Biden’s inner circle I’ll be happy.

Sally Yates for Attorney General.

Side note: Who will replace Kamala as senator? I'm guessing Karen Bass or Adam Schiff.

by Anonymousreply 106October 10, 2020 1:38 AM

Fantasy: Tammy Duckworth for SoS Reality: Mitt Romney for SoS

Biden is a 50 year Washington guy who believes in bipartisanship. His cabinet will reflect that. He isn’t going to rock the boat.

by Anonymousreply 107October 10, 2020 1:39 AM

Again, Adam Schiff wants to be Speaker. Karen Bass or hot daddy Swallwell are the leading contenders if Biden wins. The Senate is going to be close, why take out Warren when you need that seat -- at least to get the Senate organized in a new session. And even with a special election, MA is not a lock to elect a Democrat to the Senate.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 108October 10, 2020 1:48 AM

[quote]Mitt Romney for SoS

I'd like to believe that this kind of bipartisanship has been blown out of Democratic thinking by the last few years. Clinton and Obama made Republicans their Defense secretaries, reinforcing the message that Democrats were softer and less strategic, that you need a Republican to handle that stuff. FUCK that SHIT. Blare out the true message that Republicans kill everything they touch, and put our own people in there.

As for Romney, he's a close crony of Netanyahu whose vision of the world mainly has to do with global finance and what he can get out of it. He lost in 2012 because too many people hated his out-of-touch billionaire attitude and hostility to regular wage-earners. He's carved out a little niche by opposing Trump here and there, and voted to convict him in Feb., but he's still a Republican, a proponent of a vicious and failed ideology, and far worse than many a Democrat would be at rebuilding our currently ruinous foreign policy.

by Anonymousreply 109October 10, 2020 1:49 AM

R101 Truman and Buddy Buttigieg need a yard, not a penthouse.

by Anonymousreply 110October 10, 2020 1:55 AM

Schiff would be a great speaker of the house but they need him in the ass kicking sections of government like Justice or intelligence. Susan Rice will be in there somewhere. Maybe Sec of Defense? Joint Chiefs Chairman? Swalwell as speaker would work for me.

by Anonymousreply 111October 10, 2020 1:58 AM

There is nothing more "ass kicking" than being Speaker of the House. When Nancy is ready to hand over the gavel, Schiff would be perfect and ready.

by Anonymousreply 112October 10, 2020 2:02 AM

What's the utility for Democrats to have Romney as SoS - apart from perfunctory bipartisan window dressing?

by Anonymousreply 113October 10, 2020 2:02 AM

Any senator considered for cabinet position must come from a democratic state with a Democratic governor. A Democratic senator resigning to move into the administration and which the governor is a Republican will appoint a Republican. It will potentially cause a shift in power in the Senate and that will not happen.

Massachusetts has a Republican governor as well Maryland. They also have Democratic senators.

by Anonymousreply 114October 10, 2020 2:07 AM

Do Senators typically give up their seats for cabinet positions?

by Anonymousreply 115October 10, 2020 2:11 AM

Yes.

by Anonymousreply 116October 10, 2020 2:14 AM

He is senile, he won't be in office but a few months.

by Anonymousreply 117October 10, 2020 2:18 AM

But IF there's a Democratic sweep in the Senate then it takes the pressure off a potential Warren appointment, because they can easily ride out the few months to a special election with one fewer senator. Right now according to the polls they are competitive in about a dozen seats (which is not to say they'll win them all) and only in real danger of losing one in Alabama.

If you really felt that Warren or whomever was the right choice for the position in question it'd be dumb to pass them up under those circumstances.

by Anonymousreply 118October 10, 2020 2:22 AM

by Anonymousreply 120October 10, 2020 2:30 AM

[quote] Do Senators typically give up their seats for cabinet positions?

It depends, I think Kerry gave up his seat to become SOS because Republicans were in control of the Senate which means he had almost no power. If they are thinking about retiring soon a chance to do something new might be attractive. If their party controls the Senate the older ones stand a good chance of becoming a committee chairperson, so they might want to stay to have the power. If Republicans keep control of the Senate more of them might be willing to take a cabinet position. Younger ones would probably want to stay and not give up their seat.

by Anonymousreply 121October 10, 2020 2:33 AM

This is just a Parlour game y'all. Don't take it too seriously but just have some fun with it.

by Anonymousreply 129October 10, 2020 8:50 AM

I said it before, so it's worth repeating again. I would love for Hiils to be a Special Adviser to Joe. The reason being the those Refucks will not be able to bring her before any fake nonsense Repug commission for questioning. This way she can utilize the full force of her capacities to undo/dig out all facts/and investigate all of Jared Kushners money laundering and put him in jail for life. I have no doubt in my mind that Jared traded US Confidential secrets to get money from the Saudis along with Qatar. (If I remember correctly, it was Qatar that ended up giving him hundreds of millions of dollars). Whatever the details, somewhere or somehow Jared secured money to pay for his 666 5th avenue building...and someone needs to make sure he goes to jail for this!

Hopefully, this arrangement will be amicable to Hillary, as I would doubt she'd want to get into the gutters and the craven underbelly of the Repug sewer again to deal with these evil, Satan-loving Republicans. I hope the Dem House will pay her a sick amount of money for doing this dirty, but necessary task.

by Anonymousreply 130October 10, 2020 9:17 AM

What Pete will want to get out of his role in the administration will be preparedness to have another tilt at President in four or eight years. Making him UN Ambassador just shifts him to the side. He needs either a prominent advisory role or a Cabinet position - if he doesn't run for office in 2024 he needs a guaranteed Cabinet position then. He also needs a role that will actively endear him to the black community if he does it well.

Are we counting Obama out because we know he doesn't want anything? He'd be an excellent SoS, or UN Ambassador. Alienated foreign allies would glomp back onto the US with magnetic speed.

by Anonymousreply 131October 10, 2020 9:51 AM

He shouldn't hire any democratic senators. And I don't think Romney deserves an award.

by Anonymousreply 132October 10, 2020 9:58 AM

Why do we have any faith in Adam Schiff?? Please someone inform me. There's a poster up thread that wants him badly to have a powerful position in Biden Administration. Can someone list anything that Schiff has accomplished that has helped Biden? How about telling us where (if ever or anywhere) that Schiff managed to outsmart McConnell? Be aware that the little weasel Devin Nunes is still squirreling on the grounds in the dark, free to do as he pleases. What exactly has Schiff done above and beyond duty? Whenever I see Schiff's face, it is associated will failure. Mitch the Bitch has him on all fours with his dick firmly implanted up to his small turtle balls.

by Anonymousreply 133October 10, 2020 10:03 AM

Romney?? Wtf is wrong with you guys? He's a repug. Recently supported the SC judge appt to replace RBG! You guys SMH🤦‍♀️

by Anonymousreply 134October 10, 2020 10:37 AM

Ron Klain will be Chief of Staff. He was Biden's COS when he was VP and also worked with him when Klain was counsel to the Senate Judiciary committee. Klain also knows Washington well.

Mayor Pete does not know Washington well, but has been a great surrogate for the campaign. I'd send him to the UN for now but bring him in for a replacement at State, Defense, or Intelligence after a year or two. Let him get some more foreign policy creds.

Warren is needed in the Senate to play a coordinating role in undoing all of the regulations that the Trump administration (with McConnell's indifference) has decimated.

Rice to State.

by Anonymousreply 135October 10, 2020 10:58 AM

Interesting list R90, but why would Garcetti take Transportation?

Seems like a much lower profile job than mayor of LA for someone with ambitions.

Whereas I could see Karen Bass taking a cabinet job, figuring she gets 4-8 years out of it and then will be in her 70s and able to retire and collect speaking fees.

McConnell's indifference, R135? You mean McConnell's constant enthusiastic support. He's been Tea Party World Domination all the way since forever.

by Anonymousreply 138October 10, 2020 1:08 PM

Old Joe won't be around long.

by Anonymousreply 139October 10, 2020 1:09 PM

by Anonymousreply 140October 10, 2020 1:10 PM

I’m a brain cell! So glad I have a place in this new cabinet! The last administration had no place for me.

by Anonymousreply 141October 10, 2020 1:11 PM

The Governor or Washington state, Jay Inslee will make a great EPA or Interior Secretary. He is way out front on environmental issues and he appreciates the urgency. Joe needs someone like him.

I'd have Elizabeth Warren as one of my Economic advisors or as Secretary of Labor. She might accept it. Usually Labor Secretary is a union heavyweight. But don't disparage the Veterans Affairs posting. The budget is huge. One of the biggest departments of government. They need someone good, but I would not use Pete there. IMO Pete ought to be in the White House in some fashion.

by Anonymousreply 142October 10, 2020 1:15 PM

[quote] Interesting list [R90], but why would Garcetti take Transportation?

Yeah that one was somewhat puzzling to me, but I got that one from another source, I think it might have been from Politico but I looked at a lot of projections for that list and I don't remember which one that was from. One reason might be to get familiar with Washington and how things work between the executive branch and congress, Garcetti will probably run for President in the future.

by Anonymousreply 143October 10, 2020 1:22 PM

Good idea r130. It would be nice to see her stick the long gloved and greased arm of the law up the Republicunt asses.

There should be ZERO Republicunts in Biden's cabinet. They should all fry in hell, hanging upside down like bats having their entrails eaten by demons.

by Anonymousreply 144October 10, 2020 1:41 PM

Xavier Becerra the Attorney General of California will replace Kamala Harris. He is a highly respected, very effective AG and he is a Latino. They're the future.

by Anonymousreply 145October 10, 2020 1:46 PM

I adore Hillary and never apologize for it. But tactically it would not be a good idea to bring Hillary or Michelle or Barack into the Biden Administration. Joe is all about developing the next generation. Those three would take attention away from Joe and become lightning rods for media and Republican trash. Mayne of the people who ran in the primaries will get a second look, and really, after the decades Joe has spent in D.C. he will want a few insiders like Ron Klain close to him. Klain is smart, he is effective, he is respected. You won't find too many people as well thought of. Now I will bet Joe will ask Michelle to head up some special project. He may do the same with Hillary or BArack. But nothing that looks permanent. Plus I think that while Michelle & Barack are over Washington, they will want to be seen to serve when called on, so many Joe sends Barack to China to repair the mess Donnie made, and he sends Hillary to Europe for some short term special project. And he appoints Michelle the Nutrition and Fitness expert the way Reagan appointed Arnold Schwarzenegger. But the old guard is over for all intents & purposes.

by Anonymousreply 146October 10, 2020 1:54 PM

Ron Klain is Gay. So he will represent!

by Anonymousreply 147October 10, 2020 1:55 PM

I'm not sure if Obama would be eligible for a cabinet position, like State or anything else, because cabinet sec'ys are in the line of succession. And to be honest, why would he want that. He's been the president, everything else is just a step down.

by Anonymousreply 148October 10, 2020 2:06 PM

[quote]Joe sends Barack to China to repair the mess Donnie made

What???

I hope Joe Biden immediately repairs the rift with the EU and other allies to start the process of investigating how China gave the world covid19. Dump neglecting the virus is one thing, but China is still responsible for it through their refusal to ban wet markets and withholding crucial information about the virus. They also need to be sanctioned for Hong Kong and their many other human rights abuses, which Joe already said he would do.

If you all witnessed how Russia's dirty money and their manipulation of social media shaped the 2016 election, you will see nothing like it once China gets into that game trying to undermine the western world.

Brendad Ickson- Press Secretary

Brian Singer- Secretary of Early Male Childhood Development

Martha Stewart- Secretary of Interiors, Landscaping, and Soufflés

Naomi Campbell- Secretary of Self Defense Against Jealous Bitches

Faye Dunaway- Secretary of Education for Little Homosexual Boys

Kim Richards- Secretary of Stolen Housing: non urban or colored people

Billy Porter- Secretary of State-ment Dresses, Hats, and Gender Neutral Flourishes

Aaron Cockgobbler- Secretary of Veteran Affairs with Men Who Like Stained Assholes

Lens Durham- Secretary of Health and Human Services for Obese Cunts

So who recommends who should be the new senate majority leader. I understand congress votes on whoever it will be, but who decides on the potential candidates for the job?

by Anonymousreply 184October 12, 2020 12:55 AM

R184 The Democratic caucus (assuming they take back the Senate) will vote to elect the Majority Leader. It would be pretty rare for the current Minority Leader not to elected Majority Leader. Just in terms of optics I'd welcome someone other than Schumer. Klobuchar would be a good compromise choice (between centrists and progressives).

by Anonymousreply 185October 12, 2020 1:02 AM

R184 I'm sick of Schumer as Democratic Senate Leader. We need new blood.

by Anonymousreply 186October 12, 2020 1:11 AM

[QUOTE]Klobuchar would be a good compromise choice (between centrists and progressives).

Reality Check: Not a single person wants Amy Klobuchar near them right now. That's why she's been laying low. Giving the woman that was loosely responsible for George Floyd's death and all of the protests over the past few months a more visible position is horrible optics when Biden and the rest of the administration is trying to unite the country.

We do need to move on from Schumer but definitely not her.

by Anonymousreply 187October 12, 2020 1:13 AM

If you want a loser as Attorney General, go for Stacey Abrams. Go right ahead.

by Anonymousreply 188October 12, 2020 1:17 AM

by Anonymousreply 189October 12, 2020 1:18 AM

by Anonymousreply 192October 12, 2020 1:34 AM

Amy Klobuchar had nothing to do with George Floyd's death, she was minimally involved in Myon Burrell's case and the rumors she's an abusive boss have been refuted buy some 80 of her current and former staff in an open letter to the NYT.

Stop letting yourself be manipulated by smear campaigns against women, R187.

Can I be Ambassador to Israel? I wanna meet hot Israeli guys

by Anonymousreply 194October 12, 2020 1:40 AM

The Majority Leader, more than being a good (and politically acceptable) spokesperson, needs to be a "legislative insider", people- and process-smart. I think Klobuchar (who was never my favorite in the primaries) has that skills set. I think Pelosi will keep her promise, and step down in 2022. I think Hakeem Jeffries would be a great Speaker... Klobuchar and Jeffries running congress would work.

by Anonymousreply 195October 12, 2020 1:42 AM

Yeah, Klobuchar will get some kind of big positionC but I cannot stand that goddamn hatchetface. Though if she uses it to keep Republicunts in line, I can get behind it.

They need someone who hates Republicunts to the core of their being to be Speaker and Senate Maj Leader. Like true Babs Bush levels of hatred.

by Anonymousreply 196October 12, 2020 2:59 AM

It won't happen but I'd like to see Eric Swalwell as House Speaker. Or David Cicilline

by Anonymousreply 197October 12, 2020 3:03 AM

[quote]Klobuchar isn't even remotely responsible for George Floyd's death. Where the hell did you get that?

Someone wasn't paying attention.

True or not that was the narrative that she got stuck with right when she decided to drop out and it will absolutely not go away if Biden appoints her to a position.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 198October 12, 2020 4:06 AM

That article pretty much proves that she had nothing to do with Floyd's death:

In October 2006, Mr. Chauvin was one of six officers involved in the shooting of a man who had stabbed multiple people before turning on the police. Ms. Klobuchar, weeks away from being elected to the Senate, was still the prosecutor, but the case wasn’t heard until after she took the oath of office in Washington.

“Senator Klobuchar’s last day in the office here was December 31, 2006, and she had no involvement in the prosecution of this case at all,” said Lacey Severins, a spokeswoman for the Hennepin County prosecutor’s office, which encompasses Minneapolis.

by Anonymousreply 199October 12, 2020 4:08 AM

R196, they don’t need a mean-faced harridan attacking Republicans. That’s the last thing they need. Nancy Pelosi doesn’t do that. She does the, “I’ll pray for them, bless their hearts” schtick. People may *suspect* she thinks these people are garbage, but they don’t *know* it. That’s what’s required.

by Anonymousreply 202October 12, 2020 4:32 AM

Did someone find a role for Klobuchar yet?

by Anonymousreply 203October 12, 2020 4:40 AM

Nancy isn't going to be giving up the Speaker role in the next two years; there is going to be too much to get done.

Too many of you are not taking into account that people who have been high in the campaign always get gigs. R90 is correct that Symone Sanders will be press secretary.

Yates seems like the most probable AG and Rice for SoS. The Obamas are not going to be in the cabinet, for the love of god. I thought Joe already committed to naming a black woman to the Court.

I am hoping that Beto gets a gig; Energy seems like the best fit. He is doing a TON of work flipping Texas Blue and he is inspirational and a "talker." There would traditionally be one Republican chosen but definitely not for a position as high as SoS; it's usually Defense or something like that. Pete will be UN or Veterans Affairs.

by Anonymousreply 204October 12, 2020 4:41 AM

I have to say, if they do decide to up the number of Supreme Court justices, it would be HILARIOUS if he nominated BOTH of the Obamas.

by Anonymousreply 205October 12, 2020 4:45 AM

Every DemocraTIC Governor who has had to lead without Federal support during the Covid crisis deserves to be asked what position they would like and if reasonable and possible, offered that position.

Cuomo, Whitmer et al

by Anonymousreply 206October 12, 2020 5:03 AM

For the 29th time, no Democratic Senator is going to be named to a Biden Administration post unless they can definitely be replaced by another Democrat.

The Obamas are not going to take any kind of position with the administration. (He might accept a Supreme Court position but there aren't any obvious ones in the near future and if Biden gets to pick one, he's going to pick a woman of color). And, the Clintons are persona non grata; Bill is damaged from his Epstein ties (have you seen or heard anything from Bill lately? There's a reason for that.) And, Hillary is yesterday's news...and, busy with her new podcast.

But, yeah, Pete and Beto will both be offered something.

Inslee would be a good fit at EPA but if he dumped WA State immediately after winning reelection as governor, there would be VERY hard feelings in Washington State which needs a strong leader right now.

by Anonymousreply 213October 12, 2020 3:04 PM
