That's not an easy song to sing, but MC pulled it off.

The Glam Rock outfit and hairstyle are 1970s but definitely not Debbie Harry.

Associated acts like Lou Reed, Bowie, and Iggy Pop were Glam, but Debbie Harry and Blondie were always pure Mod. Harry was also inspired by film actresses of the 1950s, from Tuesday Weld to Marylin Monroe, and other blonde bombshells. Her look was playful, yet somehow a little dark and dangerous.

If Miley had gone down the 1950s actress route she would have looked like she was imittating Madonna as Breathless Mahoney.

If you close your eyes, her version is flat, specifically the voice. The visuals are better though.

The girl can sing, I will give her that. She needs a good producer that will add some nuance to the song. Miley approaches a song only one way, it is possible change up a song within the song. That adds interest and gives a performance more interest upon repeated listens. Changing gears she needs a stylist, girl put on some clothes. I don't want to see her tits every time she sings. A little class goes a long way.

She's like Christina Aguilera in that they're both "good" singers, but you know exactly how they will approach a song. There's nothing nuanced or surprising about their performances. It's just belting out as loud as possible or that weird twangy affectation Miley does.

I know we are not putting Miley and Xtina in the same category.

She's an awful singer with a strained, abrasive sound and no sense of modulation. Painful to watch her straining to produce that....sound. Also, she hits it so hard from the beginning she gives herself nowhere to go. What explains Miley Cyrus? Debbie's cool, otherworldly sound bears no comparison to this schlock.

She and Katy Perry are really into self-sabotage by way of hair.

She did quite a good job as a singer but really didn't add anything new to the song.

Miley has that amped up (coked out?) Susan Powter energy which, try and she might (and she does try - way too hard), is soulless and contrived. She's also a vulgarian through and through. My prediction is that Miley is going to be one of the better known crazy-ladies of the future.

Miley would have been better of covering this more recent Blondie song, 'Fun'. Her voice would have suited this song.

I can't recognise Harry in that 2017 face and makeup and styling. And the voice is deeply layered. Terrible.

That first note is about 3 times above Miley’s range - and it’s a strain for her each time she repeats it. And in another 6 months she won’t be able to repeat it. She’s becoming a baritone with all the cigarettes.

Deborah's voice became a bit richer and more substantial as she aged. Maybe Miley should cover one of her solo singles. This is a rock song which she sings in her lower register.
