The Atlantic released an article on numerous people tied to Trump who’ve observed the president in the past as he mocked conservative religious leaders and various faith groups. The piece characterizes Trump as someone who looks at right-wing evangelicals as a special interest group to be cozied up to, even as he privately sneers at rituals and displays a lack of piousness to religious doctrine.

Wow, what a surprise. They deserve his disdain. They are hypocrites and could care less about life especially considering how they treat people who aren't fetuses. All those evangelical see in people are their wallets. When tasks with really helping people I remember what Joel Osteen did - close his church.

He doesn’t just need the support of the Vangie leadership. He needs the votes of the rank and file too. And hearing that he openly mocks them might dissuade some of them from voting for him. Don’t downplay this so much.
