Fabulous & Dishy Podcasts?

C13 with a writer for Vanity Fair did a 12 part series, on the Traci Lords scandal. I’ve been a fan of Traci since I was a kid and saw her in “Not Of This Earth” and then of course as I got older, became aware of the scandal she caused. I was kind of like “12 episodes?” and let’s just say, it was dishy. For years, Traci has wanted to control the narrative of the part of her life, that nearly ruined the porn industry in 1986. She gets busted and all of her old movies become contraband...except for one legal film she made when she really was 18, compared to the stolen birth certificate she used for an ID and a government issued passport under the name Kristie Nussman. Is she a victim? Or was she a clever business woman?

Soooo good, and yes she’s PISSED the series aired. When you hear it, you’ll understand why.

She should embrace her former whoredom. It's not like everybody doesn't know she used to take dick on camera for a living.

@1 Like I said, I’ve been a major fan of hers for years. But the way she has discussed the scandal, has been an inconvenient amnesia due to drug use. The podcast plays unaired, never before interviews with her and she sounds perfectly sober, coherent, and very well spoken on why she believes she’s the best at her job, why she formed her own production company due to wanting better quality output, and why she enjoys her job. Lots of her own words, have come back to bite her ass as an adult.

“Once Upon A Time In the Valley” was worth it!

Enjoyed it. Traci has a lot to own up to.

Dying for Sex - This women has cancer, divorces her husband b/c she hasn't been laid properly, and decides to be a tinder whore and just everyone. You get to hear her exploits.

Cults - There are some really crazy episode I couldn't even finish.

Traci will never be honest about her porn career. She's lied so much about it over the years, many just bought her story, although she contradicted herself various times.

She should be glad the podcast has came out - it's the most anyone has talked about her since the 90s.

When it dropped, she of course called out her “haters”. But the thing is, is Traci must believe that when the whole scandal happened, and she told her side of the story, that it was over and done, nothing left to be said. She still acts that way and I remember when her book came out, she got some news segment about it, and she was furious the news contacted the agent she had as a porn actress. Well duh you stupid bitch! How many lives did she ruin because of what she did? I don’t believe she was on drugs the whole time, I think towards the end of her time in porn is when she became a cokehead. The podcast played a never before heard interview of her from 1985, and she was as lucid and calm as a sober person. She was articulate about her work, the fact she wanted to make quality films and why she formed her own production company. She wasn’t stupid, she knew her movies outsold the competition 10-1. Her final 3 films with some shady characters (one of those films the only legal one) who were to distribute those movies, had mob ties. She was in deep shit by the time she completed her final film. It makes sense she dropped the dime on herself.

I guess you're never too old to be blamed for being sex-trafficked as a child.

by Anonymousreply 7October 8, 2020 1:36 AM

R7 She trafficked herself. SHE was the one who used someone else’s identity in the form of a birth certificate, SHE was the one who went to the DMV to get a California state ID. SHE was the one who used that same birth certificate to get a federal USA passport. No one forced her to do ANY of that. She was a very sophisticated and smart business woman. The porn industry didn’t use her, she used them. Drop a dime on yourself, ALL of your former movies are contraband...except for the one film you own the rights to, which was a 4 year best seller, when you turn 18? Sorry. That’s a brilliantly calculated business move. She wasn’t forced to do anything. Listen to the podcast when you run out of the smegma you’ve been eating off your dick 🤣

She just needs to own up to the fact she was clever.

Yes it was such a horrible business and it made her a household name that she legally changed her name to.

She’s a rat!

by Anonymousreply 9October 8, 2020 4:27 AM

Yeah she was clever. I’ll give her that!

by Anonymousreply 10October 24, 2020 10:00 AM

Smart woman who managed to use and exploitive business to her own means.

Her films are still legal and sold in much of the world with a lower age of consent so her porn past is not gone, only illegal in some places.

by Anonymousreply 11October 24, 2020 10:57 AM

I don't get it. Am i supposed to feel sorry for porn industry because underage girl fooled them?

by Anonymousreply 12October 24, 2020 11:23 AM

R12 Yeah one girl gets away with murder who pretty much screwed over dozens of people and nearly destroyed them. Don’t act holier than thou, I’m sure you have plenty of barely legal twink porn on your phone.

by Anonymousreply 13October 25, 2020 3:49 AM

Whether you like her actions or not you must admit Traci Lords is one smart woman.

by Anonymousreply 14October 25, 2020 12:37 PM

It was a good podcast, actually. It wasn’t a smear campaign or what have you. It was really an in-depth look at her life during that period, with interviews of her childhood friends, the ex boyfriend she was very close to before they broke up and she began her career first in magazines. I wouldn’t call it mean natured, it just takes her to task about many of her claims with evidence that speaks the contrary to her version of events, even from family members. She may not have been legal for all but one porn film she made, and legally couldn’t be held accountable or responsible for decisions she made. But she did make them, and was very calculated. She’s not stupid, she’s just not very honest.

by Anonymousreply 15December 7, 2020 9:37 AM

Yeah this June dove in DEEP. I can see why Traci would have been pissed about, especially since they played audio interviews Of her throughout the series, and she’s clear and lucid as a bell. Those audio clips contradict how she can’t recall her time in porn and that she was loaded the whole time.

Excellent podcast. Dishy for sure!
