7 Ways You’re Already Paying for Climate Change
Hurricane Laura hit the coast of Louisiana in August as a Category 4 storm, tying Louisiana’s record for strongest winds at landfall; fifteen people died.
Unprecedented wildfires across the West have killed at least 22 people in California, destroyed hundreds of homes, and consumed more acres in one day alone in Washington State than burned in the past 12 fire seasons.
In states both with and without hurricanes and wildfires, mid-summer was marked by suffocating, record-breaking heat, which ended dramatically this week as temperatures plummeted 40 degrees in Utah and 60 degrees in Colorado in less than 24 hours (a swing so large only occurred in winter historically).

We were moving in the right direction until republicans gained control.

California and Newsom need to also face their own behavior- a culture completely reliant on tech (huge seething server farms) and cars driven down the block, mansion sized manicured lawns in a fucking desert made habitable by stealing water from NorCal. I would NEVER say this anywhere but here, but Californians have not been respecting water for the last thirty years, I've seen it with my own eyes, and right of first use has to go.
They're sucking the state dry and, yes also with climate change, it won't be replenished.

California is not perfect but if you look at environmental health as a whole for the country or planet; without California we would all be cooked alive by now. They set the nationwide and worldwide trends for the last 50 years.
But the same right-wing backed firms that claimed that smoking was good and that social security was bad have brainwashed the masses into ignoring climate science.

No, [R6]. The world isn't divided between Repubs & Demos. Don't be narrow minded or facile. It will come back to bite you in your ass.

Pffft. The blame for enormous emissions lies at the door of the USA and the consumption patterns of all of its citizens not just the republicans.

Oh now Repugs want to deny that they have anything to do with stoping climate change reforms for the last 50 years now that half the country is on fire.
Good luck with that.

It started when they got everyone to call it "climate change" instead of global warming.

The West is burning; the Arctic is melting; the National Hurricane Center is tracking eight major systems; and the WHO reports the largest single-day increase of coronavirus cases globally.
Republicans: Nothing to see here, folks, move along.

The apocalypse is overdue anyways. Society has proved itself unworthy of a future. Let it rain frogs for all I care.

The environment has gone to seed in the last 4 years.
Didn’t the republicans deregulate climate protections?

I have always suspected that one of the reasons they sent all manufacturing to China was to get rid of the pollution here plus they wanted cheap labor. China is a polluted mess.
