I admit I am somewhat curious about this thing, as she was big in my youth. I won't be watching it though, primarily because I just simply won't remember once I am out of this thread and I'm also very indifferent to her. When I was younger and she first came about as a celebrity, I couldn't really figure out what it was that really attracted the public to her (or the Hiltons generally). She's rich, but so are a lot of people (are the Hiltons even really THAT rich?). She wasn't particularly stylish (more trendy), or even that much of a great beauty (although she is pretty I think, but certainly not model hot). I remember watching a single episode of her show with Richie long ago and just finding her (well, the both of them) incredibly boring. And I don't have anything against her, but she just seems like a very odd choice for the public to award with celebrity status. Part of it is that I grew up around a lot of rich people, and always found their lives to be kinda lame. They traveled to cool places and they drove nicer cars, maybe had a pool or whatever, but it's not like everything they did was super posh. I'm thinking less-financially stable like to follow these people as some sort of glimpse into what rich life is like. This is extremely rare, because sociopaths do not understand how to live lives according to the social benefit, good and order, of the group or community, unless of course, doing so is a mechanism for them to get what they want. So unless they’re wealthy and are being enabled by rich parents, or enabled by a trust fund or friends, sociopaths can rarely hold down regular jobs, or have careers, that require them to be honest or be people who can be trusted to do the right thing.

Sociopaths have the ability to genuinely care for a person from whom they benefit from, or enables them, but they are never ever going to tell you the truth, choose to not rip you off, or feel bad about it and regret it, if they do.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, has either hurt someone or done something unethical. That’s not what this is. That’s not what a sociopath thinks. Like, they aren’t stealing your 11K watch because they’re broke and homeless, though they will definitely do it then, as well. Sociopaths just do horrible shit all of the time because even if they care about you, they don’t care about you enough to not betray your trust, nor do they know how to live amongst others, in a manner that is fair and equitable, because they don’t care how they live, nor do they care how you feel or live, before, during, and after fucking you over.

You wanna meet a sociopath? Go to an AA meeting. The sociopath is the one in the room who has never held a job for over 5 years in one company, has never paid his own rent for over 5-10 getting one year of rent paid ONLY by themselves with an honest, taxable income job, is a RARE accomplishment), and they don’t give a shit that they have to ask you for a grand, to fix their bad teeth or their bad knee. It just doesn’t register with them as a personal responsibility, and they take whatever they can from whomever they can for whatever reason. They usually deal drugs while sober, or have some other bullshit schemes going on, while living with their stupid girlfriends, who pay for 90% or more of all living expenses.

Sociopaths are smart, usually good looking, and charming as fuck. But they’re always also, liars, thieves, and unrepentant when they act out in malevolent behaviors.

And this is Paris, too. She’s never held a real job, has no problem dealing drugs, or prostituting herself or others for CASH.

I’m sorry, but Paris is a horrible human being, and I know this because I’ve sponsored girls who “hung out” with her, and the stories they told me are similar, 100% believe, consistent, and just plain AWFUL.

It seemed pretty obvious to me that the butch junkie who joined the group of survivors had been Paris' gf at the school.

There was so much that this movie hinted at, but didn't come out and say. I found the experience frustrating and felt I learned more about Nicky than Paris. It was very strange how vague everyone was about exactly what sort of mischief and delinquency Paris had been up to. Just cinematically, giving us one good story of something she did or what event had been the final straw, would have been a good idea. I, also, thought they should have gone into more detail of her prison-school escapes because, frankly, that all made her sound pretty bad ass and, again, would have been a lot more cinematic than much of what was shown. It was weird how inveigled she was even in this documentary that was meant to expose her. I almost got the sense that the general public wasn't the intended audience; Kathy and Nicky clearly knew what changed for Paris between 13 and 15, knew why she was sent away, knew how much her actual personality differs from her constructed persona, etc. and all the things that appeared as hints to the audience would likely fill in blanks for someone watching this who knew many of those secret facts but not exactly how they tied together.

I didn't believe her stuff about the relentless recurring nightmares. And I still don't understand how or why she became a 'celebrity' DJ, how or why she has fans (of what?), nor why she still feels obligated to hide 24/7 behind the weird self-caricature.

It was a surprise to me to learn from the doc that only the 3 older Hiltons had been given an inheritance and that Paris' father and his two similarly aged siblings had been cut out of the family money entirely, beyond occasional handouts they likely had to beg or 'perform' for. Strange that Ric refused to appear at all.

I enjoyed that scene where Paris and Nicky are discussing marriage and children. Love how Nicky didn't do that robot/zombie-breeder thing where their eyes glaze over and they tell the non-parent how having kids is the only important thing in life and they simply must breed at any cost, like they are reciting from a script. She just stated that motherhood has been a cool journey for her, but it's absolutely not for everybody, and Paris doesn't have to do it. 1 respect point for Nicky there.

Nicky just seems like she keeps it real with her family and tells it like it is. She is probably more maternal to Paris than her own mother is.

Yeah, Nicky showed how maternal and caring she is for Paris when she rolled over and ignored the screams as Paris thought she was being kidnapped and about to be raped.

Nicky didn't seem mean at all. I was surprised by how grounded and straight forward and lacking in pretension she is.

While I'm sure that Paris' experiences of abuse and escape from those teen torture camps did some serious damage to her psyche, it seemed pretty obvious from the home movie footage that she was already bent by the time she was a tween from her own psychological composition and the gross objectifying by her grandmother and father, and that she was only going to get more twisted from the cognitive dissonance and fall out that would have resulted from her appearance and sexual magnetism never leveling up to that of the pin-up movie stars she'd been brain washed to identify with.

There were so many levels of fucked up that were hinted at, but never actually delved into. The chasm of silence where her father should have been in the film was fucking unnerving.
