Rome's War of Gay Prostitutes

You'll have to run it through Google Translate because I'm too lazy.

[quote]it is not enough for foreigners to sell their bodies between one aqueduct and another, they also wage war to compete for the best places

Interesting

Don't post any of the text you already translated, OP, that would take too much fun out of our busy days.

Unless you are very keen on Aqueducts it's probably not an area of Rome you would visit. It's about 10km from the Historic Centre near the film studio.

You can find Rent Boys much closer to town.

by Anonymousreply 4October 24, 2020 9:55 PM

^ Take it from me, I love European rent boys

Probably not the best time to visit Italy in any case. Last evening the protests against a tightening of the lockdown turned violent in Naples and Rome.

Why are they calling someone from Guatemala "sudamericano?" (South American)

by Anonymousreply 12October 25, 2020 12:21 AM

Because it's not exactly on The North American Continent as viewed from Europe (part or The US or Canada) and most Italians are pretty racist.

El Salvador, Panama, Nicaragua etc are viewed in the same way, as is Mexico to an extent.

You view Turkey as part of Europe and we largely don't.

by Anonymousreply 13October 25, 2020 12:45 AM

I didn't explain that too well, we divide people culturally as well as based on Continental location.

An example is that most Southern European Countries (Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain) don't like Arabs, even though geographically they aren't very far apart.

We also break Asia into distinct blocks between The Indian Subcontinent and what we regard as true Asians (Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Malay etc). Same with Africa but that's an even longer explanation.

Why ere Guatemalan gay prostitutes going all the way to Italy? How do they even get there?

by Anonymousreply 15October 25, 2020 1:41 AM

Probably working on cruise ships for a pittance and then jumping ship somewhere in Europe, they also have a shitty Human Rights record (death squads) so that's a possibility?

by Anonymousreply 16October 25, 2020 1:50 AM

prostitution is legal in italy. the article said whores are lighting things on fire in the park.

by Anonymousreply 17October 25, 2020 2:24 AM

R14 "An example is that most Southern European Countries (Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain) don't like Arabs, even though geographically they aren't very far apart."

Geographically and genetically for that matter. Not that there's anything wrong with that - just goes to show how arbitrary things like religion and politics can be in the grand scheme of things.

I lived in Rome 40 years ago and even back then there were stories about female prostitutes who had fires going on along the ring road around the city (raccordo anulare). We used to jokingly refer to them as Campfire Girls. Apparently it's a legitimate term now.

Interesting R22. But that says those girls were starting fires to keep warm. OP's story indicates they set fires to ward off competitors or to somehow mark their territory. Not sure how that works though.
