Geographically and genetically for that matter. Not that there's anything wrong with that - just goes to show how arbitrary things like religion and politics can be in the grand scheme of things.

I lived in Rome 40 years ago and even back then there were stories about female prostitutes who had fires going on along the ring road around the city (raccordo anulare). We used to jokingly refer to them as Campfire Girls. Apparently it's a legitimate term now.
