China is on the edge of a famine.

They're getting close to rationing food.

Absurd title, OP.

by Anonymousreply 1August 13, 2020 3:00 PM

Fantastic title.

by Anonymousreply 2August 13, 2020 3:03 PM

OP doesn't know shit about international trade and globalisation?

China can always import food from South East Asia which pretty much came through the pandemic unscathed.

by Anonymousreply 3August 13, 2020 3:05 PM

Coming soon to an America near you!

by Anonymousreply 4August 13, 2020 3:19 PM

[quote]The ability to feed a population of 1.4 billion is a top priority for the government, which relies on both domestic production and imports. But there are no signs yet of a stockpile shortage -- summer grain output stood at 142.8 million tons this year, up 1.21 million tons from a year earlier, official data show.

More bat soup, please!

Don't worry, Trump will issue an executive order putting Americans back to work to produce food for China. Nevermind that doing so results in American deaths, spreading Covid-19 through conditions required by the work, and any profits realized go to only the owners of the factories (aka Trump's friends) while workers get sick, lose their jobs and health insurance, have no unemployment to fall back on (being right to work states and all), and ultimately, die.

Think I'm hallucinating? Tell that to the tens of thousands of sick employees and thousands dead who worked at pork processing plants after China placed the largest order in their history just as the pandemic was breaking out... and Trump ordered meat packers back to work as a matter of "national security". He just failed to mention it wasn't the United States' security he was protecting.

One way or another, our numbers will be reduced, what we've seen over the last year was just nature's practice run.

by Anonymousreply 9August 13, 2020 4:54 PM

They stopped the one-child only policy?

by Anonymousreply 10August 13, 2020 4:56 PM

You didn't eat your broccoli, and now look.

by Anonymousreply 11August 13, 2020 5:07 PM

Just another small ingredient that will be part of the kindling when the next big (and potentially final) war happens.

by Anonymousreply 12August 13, 2020 6:40 PM

R6 Excuse you, it was Pangolins. Also, that didn't actually happen.

R7 How can Trump be a stooge for Russia and China at the same time? Isn't he a stooge for the Saudis and Israel too?

by Anonymousreply 14August 13, 2020 7:07 PM

OP = lying shitheel

by Anonymousreply 15August 13, 2020 7:10 PM

Maybe having country with 1+ billion citizens isn't a good idea...

by Anonymousreply 16August 14, 2020 2:11 AM

But they so gloriously conquered COVID-19 and are an example to us all!

by Anonymousreply 17August 14, 2020 2:45 AM

Also, I eat old Colvid-19+ people's shit.

by Anonymousreply 18August 14, 2020 5:05 AM

How?

by Anonymousreply 19August 14, 2020 5:08 AM

Something about them eats at me...

by Anonymousreply 20August 14, 2020 9:15 AM

Can't they just go to Panda Express?

by Anonymousreply 21August 14, 2020 2:06 PM

A country doesn't need to be able to produce all the food it consumes: it can buy it from overseas. as does every rich country.

The irony of the fact that it was something the Chinese ate that led to Covid-19, and now Covid-19 is causing famine.

by Anonymousreply 23September 28, 2020 2:06 PM

Good, they can afford to lose a few stones.

by Anonymousreply 24September 28, 2020 3:26 PM

In related news: Dogs are extinct in China.

by Anonymousreply 25September 28, 2020 3:27 PM

Buy and freeze as much meat as you can now... they were hit bad by swine flu too. They're gonna be buying our food.

by Anonymousreply 26September 28, 2020 7:42 PM

I'd suggest cannibalism, but they'd just be hungry again an hour later.

by Anonymousreply 27September 28, 2020 7:57 PM

[quote] They stopped the one-child only policy?

Yes, always a good idea to have a spare kid around in times of famine.

by Anonymousreply 28September 28, 2020 8:00 PM

I would not eat their food if I lived there either.

by Anonymousreply 29September 29, 2020 3:12 PM

I love how many Americans make fun of Chinese exceptionalism. They're a carbon copy of ours.

by Anonymousreply 30September 29, 2020 3:22 PM

Great. Now they'll start eating fucking bats & cats again.

by Anonymousreply 31September 29, 2020 3:28 PM

I had to give up Chinese food after my gastric surgery. My body cannot tolerate it anymore. And since COVID-19, I even have given up Asian supermarkets. Too bad because I have been jonesing for oxtails and the Asian market near my house always sells them for a good price. The American style market hardly has any and when they do, mark up the price...ridiculous. I may have to ride the bus to the halal market to buy some.
