California has now approved a pilot plan to pay $1,250 to anyone who tests positive for coronavirus to encourage them to “stay at home and self isolate”. Alameda County’s Board of Supervisors has set aside $10 million for the program, which will allow payments to 7,500 people, according to the Daily Mail. The program was approved as the county hit a new high in daily coronavirus cases and as California continues to “struggle” to contain the outbreak in its state.

The problem, of course, is that there is no penalty for breaking quarantine if you've been paid.
So, you get paid and, what, it's the honor system to remain isolated.
Now, if they were required to wear those house arrest anklets, then I'd say we have something.

So how many idiots in the area are going to deliberately expose themselves to get the cash?

It's like when the British ruled India. They put a bounty on cobras because of all the deaths the snakes were causing. Well it didn't take long for the Indians to starts RAISING cobras, killing them and turning them in for the bounty.
