If You Had To Take A Job On A Cruise Ship

What job would you take?

I used to know a woman who worked on a cruise ship. She said that part of her job was to work the disco. If she saw a guy who wasn't dancing, she had to go up to him and ask him if he wanted to dance.

Purser

by Anonymousreply 1August 10, 2020 11:43 PM

Captain's Daughter!

by Anonymousreply 2August 10, 2020 11:44 PM

Im a licensed CG Master, so I’d take Captain

by Anonymousreply 3August 10, 2020 11:50 PM

I'd work in the boiler room far away from all the passengers so as not to catch the covid.

A co-worker's wife worked on a cruise ship as a nurse. She enjoyed it but that was before she got married and had a couple of kids.

Bingo caller.

by Anonymousreply 6August 11, 2020 12:05 AM

Marriage counselor

DJ..

Working in the gift shops is one of the easiest jobs. They aren't open that many hours compared to other venues.

Working as an art auctioneer is one of the highest paid jobs.

[OP] That woman? She was a prostitute.

by Anonymousreply 11August 11, 2020 12:20 AM

Ship's Counselor.

by Anonymousreply 12August 11, 2020 12:21 AM

Very odd, OP, considering that women outnumber men on cruises five to one. A lot of higher end cruises hire men to dance with the women, but never the other way around.

Cruise Director. They get all the best blow.

by Anonymousreply 14August 11, 2020 12:56 AM

I can’t sing or dance but I would want to be part of the cast of the main stage musicals.

by Anonymousreply 15August 11, 2020 12:58 AM

I've got my finger-guns gesture all down, complete with sparkling, yet smarmy smile. I can also mix a mean Manhattan for any altekackers looking for a new love, or a revival of an old love, and a frozen margarita for any pretty ladies. So I guess I'd be the bartender.

by Anonymousreply 16August 11, 2020 1:00 AM

As my degree is in costume design, I'd work in the theater as a dresser/wardrobe master.

by Anonymousreply 17August 11, 2020 1:07 AM

Lounge Singer.

by Anonymousreply 18August 11, 2020 1:09 AM

Definitely a performer. Performers can take advantage of all the same perks available to guests (pool, spa, restaurants), unlike crew, and only work a few hours a day.

Pass-around cabin boy

I would like to be the co-photographer for the ship with Ace. Of course ace needs to take care of my needs all throughout the voyage.

[quote][OP] That woman? She was a prostitute.

LOL, no. There were also male staff that had to ask ladies to dance. She was like a junior Julie on Love Boat. She had to do shuffleboard and other games with the passengers and she had to greet them in the morning for breakfast. I think at one point she had to help out in their onboard church for a Sunday morning service.

Entertainment. In most cruise ships they get “officer” status and can go and do anything the passengers do. Limited work hours and plenty of time to site see and stuff.. Plus, single rooms on many ships

by Anonymousreply 26August 11, 2020 3:41 AM

Who hasn't, R25?

by Anonymousreply 27August 11, 2020 4:11 AM

Laughing my ASS off at r2!

The best jokes are the ones where you can't explain why they're funny...

by Anonymousreply 28August 11, 2020 4:13 AM

GYM/Sauna attendant, for obvious reasons. I take my lunch break at 4pm.

by Anonymousreply 29August 11, 2020 4:24 AM

I'd want to be one of the Love Boat Mermaids. It was how Teri Hatcher got her first big break!

Maintenance man. I cant dance or sing, I'm good at fixing things, and it gives me a good excuse to be in passengers cabins, and slurp on hot cock when I'm done fixing the TV/aircon/ door lock or whatever else needed fixing

by Anonymousreply 31August 11, 2020 4:53 AM

I had a similar job (not on a cruise ship, though) in my early 20’s. I was supposed to chat lonely guys on the bar up so they’re stay longer and spend more money.

Now, I’d only work on a cruise if I was in one of the stage shows.

by Anonymousreply 32August 11, 2020 4:57 AM

Prostitution Whore/Dancer with old ladies.

by Anonymousreply 33August 11, 2020 5:08 AM

Why did they add the Jill Whelan character? Were they concerned Captain Stubing would seem gay if he didn;t have some evidence of his heterosexuality?

She had the weirdest hair. It was like a modified Dorothy Hamill.

by Anonymousreply 34August 11, 2020 5:12 AM

r34, she was Gavin McLeod's daughter in real life.

by Anonymousreply 35August 11, 2020 5:14 AM

Are we supposed to know what a "CG Master" is, r3? Coast Guard? Cock Gobbler?

by Anonymousreply 36August 11, 2020 5:31 AM

The Captain of course! In COVID times, there would be no shaking hands or bullshit. I could just walk and wave 👋

by Anonymousreply 37August 11, 2020 5:35 AM

R35 is lying.

by Anonymousreply 38August 11, 2020 5:46 AM

Showroom dancer / male whore.

by Anonymousreply 39August 11, 2020 5:59 AM

Well, I certainly wouldn’t want to be required to stay in a crew cabin underwater.

by Anonymousreply 40August 11, 2020 6:15 AM

[quote]It was how Teri Hatcher got her first big break!

Yeah, lets go with this.
