Why does the stock market open so late?
Wall Street is lazy. They like to steal money from little old ladies but reuse to get up early. They don’t even work for it.
They come in hungover and sit at their desks and collect money all day for doing nothing. And then go home before everybody else.

The commute in NYC makes the business day start later there.

Everybody else has a long commute too.
They are just lazy crooks.

And close early.
The bulk of work happens before the market opens. Most traders I knew went to work at like 5AM. The actual trading time is only one part of the job.

It's not just the stock market -- when I first started working in the Midwest and had to deal with a lot of NYC print media and vendors, I had to wait until 9:30 or 10 am to get ahold of anybody. And offices were cleared out on Friday afternoons in summer.
Meanwhile, we were working 7:30 am to 5:30 pm (at least)

Smug and lazy. Paper pushers. Doesn’t appear to be an honest one in the lot.

It would be a shame if they were all replaced by robots.

Hope they don’t break too much of a sweat with that 6 hour workday.

Is it because of the time difference? On the west coast the market opens at 6:30am.

The guys I knew who worked as trader on wall street typically were in the office at 7am. There is a lot of work to be done before the market opens.
