I have tried to watch the recent influx of black tv show, The Chi, Greenleaf, Queen Sugar. They are fucking so miserable. Hope these old shows are more fun.

by Anonymousreply 1August 3, 2020 11:14 PM

Girlfriends was the best show ever!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 2August 3, 2020 11:16 PM

R1 Blackish is good.

by Anonymousreply 3August 3, 2020 11:18 PM

Didn't everyone on Moesha die?

by Anonymousreply 4August 3, 2020 11:19 PM

No, but Brandy is a murderess.

by Anonymousreply 5August 3, 2020 11:20 PM

R3 Tried, not my tempo.

UPN, the United Paramount Network specialized in Black programing. In the industry, it was known as "You Peoples Network."

Please tell me they also acquired The Parkers starring Mo' (I'm suing Netflix) Nique.

by Anonymousreply 8August 3, 2020 11:27 PM

[quote]which we already knew from shows like The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air and the incredibly successful sitcom Phylicia Rashad and Malcolm Jamal-Warner starred in for 8 seasons

They won't mention the Cosby Show by name.

[quote]Please tell me they also acquired The Parkers starring Mo' (I'm suing Netflix) Nique.

It would be funny if they did, and digitally removed Mo'Nique.

by Anonymousreply 10August 3, 2020 11:34 PM

I used to love Moesha but it’s spin-off The Parker’s was a much funnier show.

by Anonymousreply 11August 3, 2020 11:34 PM

I loved the promo announcing the shows, especially with some of the actors recounting moments from their shows. It took me right back.

Did they get “ Amos ‘N Andy”?

Asking for a friend.

by Anonymousreply 13August 4, 2020 12:49 AM

Girlfriends is a very interesting show. They really “went there” numerous times.

by Anonymousreply 14August 4, 2020 1:02 AM

Girlfriends was good because some of the characters did really unlikable things and they could be real bitches for long stretches of a season.

I found Joan could be a real bitch but I think that was a strength of the show.

by Anonymousreply 15August 4, 2020 1:07 AM

The "straight" guy in Girlfriends wasn't really straight.

by Anonymousreply 16August 4, 2020 1:15 AM

R1, I tried watching that HBO show about the black woman who gets raped and it was unbearably miserable. Maybe it’s a good show, but things are pretty grim and I don’t have time for a show that’s all about rape PTSD. I HAVE THAT SHIT ALREADY.

by Anonymousreply 17August 4, 2020 1:29 AM

I had a crush on the Hangin with Mr. Coop guy

by Anonymousreply 18August 4, 2020 1:29 AM

Didn't Brandy run over and kill someone with her SUV? Does Netflix know this?

by Anonymousreply 19August 4, 2020 1:35 AM

Brandy in Moesha is too cute for words

by Anonymousreply 20August 4, 2020 1:42 AM

I loved Sister Sister

by Anonymousreply 21August 4, 2020 1:58 AM

I like Brandy as a vocalist, but couldn't care less about "Moesha". I love Jackeé, but I'm not subjecting myself to "Sister, Sister". I like my black-led sitcoms firmly planted in the 80s & 70s.

by Anonymousreply 22August 4, 2020 2:35 AM

(Eyes rolled) Oh God..

by Anonymousreply 23August 4, 2020 2:45 AM

R23 I understood that reference.

I barely remember this show. Where is the 'there' they went?

by Anonymousreply 25August 4, 2020 7:28 AM

"I tried watching that HBO show about the black woman who gets raped and it was unbearably miserable."

You should give it another try, the finale is beautiful and not bleak at all.

I'm ready for my comeback!
