Sadly, yes, and both the far right and far left are equally anti-science. And they're both against it for the same reason, because it inconveniently disproves some of their cherished belief, and they'd rather stamp out science than change their minds.

It's only going to get worse as scientific education comes under attack, because the Scientific Method teaches people to weigh evidence, and change their minds if they're wrong. They can't have that.
