I think this is incredible. Fun, creative, and a bit dopey, and very well sung. I am a huge Judy queen and am, of course, obsessed with "The Harvey Girls", which has its own Tumblr page....naturally.

The only real flaw in THG is that Judy has only one solo in the whole film, and she sings it in the opening two minutes. After that everybody in the cast has a solo except our star! Seems like the balance was off. This incredible number called "March of the Doagies" looks hugely expensive, but it was cut anyway. It is often referred to as "Judy of Arc", for obvious reasons!

There are two gay communities on Fire Island. They are next to each other, separated by a patch of sand and scrub. The Pines is the much more affluent community. And usually the thinnest. It has all the social status. The neighboring community is Cherry Grove. It is the more modest community. And the chubbier.

Neither is cheap. No one at Cherry Grove is poor.

Just want to mention that Fire Island is a very long barrier island with dozens of towns on it. Two are famously gay and lesbian.

I just liked the wordplay of “Pines” and “wood” and the further fact that conifers are soft wood on top of that. Nice job R65!

The Pines has larger proportion of folks from Hell’s Kitchen gay ghetto, and who are obsessed with an Instagram lifestyle (even if it is propped up by maxed out credit cards—the appearance of fabulousness is critical as is the need to be desired. The Pines is The equivalent of the super popular jocks, cheerleaders, and richies in high school.

Is he still dating director David Cromer? Sikes has been given titles for different Broadway shows as assistant to the producer or such. He usually sings in impossibly high keys and mostly imitates Garland, which gets kind of annoying after a while.

Yeah and an Imax movie in NY is $29 bucks and a cocktail is $14.

This part of Fire Island is lovely. If you have nice friends you would enjoy the weekend or the week. It's reputation is far worse than the reality. There is something for everyone in The Pines and Cherry Grove. Do your thing. A barrier island is a special ambiance. That's why these islands become such coveted destinations.

Silly R99 -- People don't ingest food on Fire Island -- they ingest drugs and cum, one of the best diets for beachwear around.

There's a little supermarket called The Pines Pantry, or at least it was called that for decades. It's really expensive because f course everything has to be sent over on a barge from the mainland.

Basically everyone schelps groceries from the city. It's a holy terror lugging your weekend bag, dog, groceries, vodka, paper towels, toilet paper and sundries, only to return two nights later. It can be nice but I really didn't find the commute worth it. I used to go when I was really young and it was a lot of middle-aged guys with money and twinks. That was in the Stone Age, though I've been a few times over the years, but still not my scene. The gays all swan around in this exalted "I have ARRIVED!" manner which is comical.

R10o is right although there is also a lot of anal feeding of drugs and cum as well for those “medically” unable to swallow. But it’s mostly about drugs, sex, and Gay pop divas.
