You? Still the fashionably chic DLer?
How has the way you dress changed during the pandemic? I've been out of my pajamas only half a dozen times the last few months.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | August 29, 2020 2:31 AM |
Gym shorts and t-shirts every day at home. I've worn jeans maybe three times. I haven't ironed since March.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 28, 2020 1:47 PM |
Do tell, OP, who got you out of those jammies???
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 28, 2020 1:48 PM |
Gym shorts and shirts for me too. Can’t be arsed to dress in other stuff when I’m only going out for groceries
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 28, 2020 1:49 PM |
I admit we're no longer white tie for dinner (black tie has been condoned) and, as I'm not going out in the morning, my morning suit remains in my closet.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 28, 2020 1:50 PM |
Only shorts and T shirts since mid March. No full length pants, not even my jeans. And no shirts too.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 28, 2020 1:55 PM |
I panic when I have a Zoom meeting and have to find a presentable shirt. I don’t bother with pants.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 28, 2020 1:56 PM |
R6 For Zoom meetings, I pull out a button down shirt from my closet and put it on over my t-shirt. When the meeting's finished, the shirt goes back in the closet.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 28, 2020 1:58 PM |
Pretty much the same. Still wearing my prom dress daily. Only now I care a little less when Nutella falls off my cracker.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 28, 2020 2:01 PM |
R9 I recognize that person from tinder.co.ar
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 28, 2020 2:09 PM |
Shorts since May. I still walk to my private office in NYC so I'm out in public but with a mask on. Def dressing for comfort. I have a button up to put on for zoom meetings. I don't think I'll ever wear jeans again- unless I'm going to a bar at night. Wearing woof gym shorts now!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 28, 2020 2:15 PM |
I no longer dress up, comfort now rules.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 28, 2020 2:21 PM |
Sweatpants below and videoconference-appropriate on top since mid-March. My chic summer wardrobe hasn't been touched (don't want to have to iron). I'm slowly realizing that I may never return to being the well-dressed, well-shod professional I once was.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 28, 2020 3:19 PM |
I'm dressed better actually. Because I am sharing more time at home with partner and I don't want to distract him, except when I want to distract him.
Both of us try not to be slobby unless its the later evening (then its whatever nightwear) or weekend. He does yoga and stuff in early morning then changes to something akin to work clothes, and I get dressed late morning for my errands (lessons, exercise, shopping, job hunting).
Dressing at least tidily helps us focus more. If not, I'd be sleeping much more of day, and he'd be taking more 'breaks' for video games or chatting. So at least 9-10am til 5-6pm is somewhat to very busy with something.
Lots of short wearing because its the heat of summer, but its especially not so bad since this is our first year with installed air conditioning in our home - before we had to tough it out or use a portable AC that only really helps one room.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 28, 2020 3:36 PM |
R14 You two sound insufferable.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 28, 2020 3:43 PM |
Indeed, r15. Especially the part where dressing [italic]tidily[/italic] helps them focus.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 28, 2020 5:50 PM |
R16 And the "he does yoga" part. The most annoying people on the planet are the ones who do yoga.
Then this part - "lessons, exercise, shopping, job hunting." Apart from the ridiculous "lessons," I'm wondering what world these two are living in where their city is open for lessons, exercise, shopping, and job hunting.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 28, 2020 5:57 PM |
r17 And I can't let "lots of short wearing" pass without comment.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 28, 2020 5:58 PM |
R19 And they have "installed air conditioning." How fabulous for the two of them, getting to indulge in "lots of short wearing" because of it.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 28, 2020 6:01 PM |
If I don't need to be in Senate chambers or in my regional offices, I'm usually lounging around in my boudoir dressing gown.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 28, 2020 6:52 PM |
I only hold R14's "I'm dressed better actually" against him. The rest sounds like maybe he's a non-native English speaker.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 28, 2020 7:14 PM |
Y'all are getting dressed?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 29, 2020 7:42 AM |
So far, I've changed my underwear three times during this period
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 29, 2020 10:48 PM |
In the past two or three weeks, I now go naked around the house. I am home most the time. I dress if I have a Zoom meeting. It's summer, I live in San Diego. It's been fairly nice summer with very little humidity, but I hear the humidity is coming soon. At first it was a bit weird being naked most of the time, but I have gotten used to it and it feels good.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 30, 2020 6:33 AM |
Its hot. I just wear a towel. I hop in the shower whenever.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 2, 2020 12:08 PM |
I used to wear dress pants and a button up shirt everyday to the office even though we are work casual. Now I sloth around in dirty shorts and t shirts. Luckily there isn’t much to Zoom about so I don’t have to worry about that. I also only shower once every two to three days. I’m disgusted with myself.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 2, 2020 12:15 PM |
I work out in the early AM. Shower, and then put on whatever shorts and t-shirt I'm going to work out in the next day.
If I have a Zoom with clients, I have a tennis shirt I pull on over the t-shirt
I shave whenever I have a Zoom and/or if three or four days go by. Shower daily after workout.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 2, 2020 12:20 PM |
As an essential worker my clothing hasn't changed. I'd love to have a couple months off to get stuff done and lounge around the house in boxers and t-shirt.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 2, 2020 12:37 PM |
Wear a jockstrap at home most of the day. When the gong rings, I retire to be bedroom where my manservant has laid out my evening clothes for dinner. I'm ready by 6:30. We assemble in the Yellow Drawing Room. They bring the cocktail tray soon afterwards. At 7:15 sharp dinner is served. We walk to the dining room by order of precedence. Our hostess leads the way. And our host brings up the rear. Invariably, I'm seated next to a bright young thing. The ladies retire after the cheese course to the Blue Drawing Room. We don't linger over the port. We soon join the ladies for a game of whist. I'll usually have a digestive. By 11:00, I go up. The bright young thing seated next to me at dinner follows discreetly afterwards. A soft rap on my door, and I open it for him. He remains until the bagpiper on the verandah wakens us at 8 the next morning. The bright young thing soon departs my room before my manservant arrives with my jockstrap for that day.

I’ve been to an outdoor restaurant almost every Friday or Saturday since March, weather permitting, observing social distance with the same two friends. Winter is coming and my outdoor activity weekend dinner will cease sadly. But we take the opportunity to dress for each other on those dinner evenings. Otherwise it’s boxers and tshirts.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 2, 2020 4:42 PM |
You've had outdoor dining since March R30? Where is that? Also, you've got like 3 more months of pleasant outdoor weather.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 3, 2020 12:01 PM |
none at all. I never understood the "I'm wearing PJS all day" thing. I dress like I normally do in the summers
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 3, 2020 12:10 PM |
No shaving, no deodorant, no underwear. Bliss. My balls are finally free.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 3, 2020 1:12 PM |
I wear an exotic sarong. Easy on easy off.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 10, 2020 9:09 AM |
I was never fashionably chic to start with so fuckall has changed
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 10, 2020 1:31 PM |
well, the summer is hot as hell, so I have dressed lightly.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 10, 2020 1:35 PM |
I could use one of those right now R37 It’s 100F and no airco 🥵
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 10, 2020 1:39 PM |
I almost never go out so it's just boxers and tees for me, mostly. I keep a pair of pants by the door for when I go out to sweep or get the mail or whatever.
I have seriously considered entering the heady world of caftanery.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 10, 2020 1:40 PM |
Where can we buy caftans???
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 10, 2020 1:54 PM |
I bought 30 white Hanes T-shirts and a dozen pairs of navy blue drawstring shorts and that's my unofficial uniform for the Summer. It's been great not having to think about what to wear.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 10, 2020 2:03 PM |
R41 All made in China I hope. Over consumption makes our country stronger.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 10, 2020 6:49 PM |
I was supposed to go on vacation when the pandemic shutdown occurred, so I had ironed quite a few nice polo shirts for the trip. That was in March and most of them are still laying out in my spare bedroom. There's been little need to wear anything other than shorts and t-shirts since March. I'll be retiring in just a few months, so there's a chance I won't ever need "dress" clothes for work again. Even any virtual meetings I have are audio-only, so no one I work with ever sees me (and I have the camera on my laptop covered, just to be absolutely certain of that).
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 10, 2020 7:01 PM |
Since I am working from my home but my roommate is a woman, I can't go full on naked so I walk around in some shorts and maybe a tank top. It sucks that the city I live in is so full of metrosexuals that I need to get dressed just to go out and pick up groceries. My roommate walks around in a slip top and shorts and figures that since I'm gay, I won't care (which I actually don't tbh).
However, we HAVE to dress up on weekends because we meet co-workers for dinner at patios and the people here don't mess around about elegance. White is the color of the season for women and men are wearing slacks with a sort of muted pastel shirts. I resent spending money on clothes to go out once a week.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 11, 2020 2:58 AM |
Seems the caftan at R37 is very much the colour of the season R44
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 11, 2020 6:48 AM |
Lounging attire. All day every day.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 11, 2020 7:31 AM |
You wear PAJAMAS? Are you an accountant or something?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 11, 2020 8:20 AM |
R45 - how is a top gonna look in a caftan?
Although I have to admit some of the sinewy Moroccans I saw in caftans were pretty hot and you can just tell they have a nice hairy hole.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 11, 2020 10:01 AM |
I had to go into the office a few weeks ago, and it was the first time I've worn a suit in 5 months. Usually I alternate between 2 pairs of jeans and 3 or 4 t-shirts. I regularly look at clothes online, but I refuse to buy anything.

Oh, I FEEL your PAIN. The slatternous she-beast with whom I reside is constantly walking around in a state of undress, which ought to be criminal if one looks like she does.
At least you’ve not found a dead body lying in your flat yet, though.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 11, 2020 1:45 PM |
R50 - LMAO. My roommate is actually pretty good looking and super fit...like a non-Repuke Melania which proves I am waaaaaaayyyyy gay if even that doesn't turn me on. Good thing she is a bit OCD and showers like 3 times a day and is obsessed with L'Occitane lavender stuff cuz I've actually put some in my room and house and it's nice. She and I put some demure lights on the terrace and around the house that are pretty nice at night.
I think we are all struggling to adjust to the fact that pandemic times are gross. There is nowhere to go daily, you need to force yourself to wear scent and motivation to be elegant can be absolutely crushed. A bit of scent and some loungewear made of nice fabrics really help me feel better.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 12, 2020 1:27 AM |
The bigger question is what do I get rid of from my closet? I have really expensive clothes that I don’t seem to wear anymore. Should I just donate them and get down to jeans and t-shirts? It’s all I wear anymore. Is this the new normal?
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 12, 2020 3:38 AM |
R52 - sell them on eBay
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 12, 2020 6:21 AM |
R51 I want some demure lights. What kind you have? Linky?
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 12, 2020 6:35 AM |
Hostess pants.

by Anonymous | reply 58 | August 12, 2020 8:00 AM |
I'm in the same quandary, R52. I have two pairs of Florsheim lace-ups that I bought just before the pandemic began, haven't worn them at all and am wondering if I ever will. My older shoes haven't been worn either and so they're going to last much longer than I had predicted, and I won't even really need the new shoes until probably, what, 2022? And will they even be in style then?
On one hand it's a stupid thing to worry about, but on the other hand my house is FULL of STUFF and maybe the shoes need to go. The charity shops in town said they're not taking shoes right now, but maybe that will change later in the year.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | August 12, 2020 9:21 AM |
I iron much less.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | August 21, 2020 4:09 PM |
R60 I haven't ironed since March.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | August 21, 2020 9:14 PM |
I try to wear my jeans at least a few times a week. I learned a painful lesson many years ago that wearing elastic waist pants over several month is not a good idea. Once the novelty of work from home passed, I started to make an effort to dress at least like I would on a casual Friday. It helps with my mood. Otherwise, I start to feel like I’m home sick.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | August 21, 2020 10:19 PM |
I’m finding that wizard sleeves and a palazzo pant are my new friends. Also I like the way the silk organza continues to move throughout the air after I’ve stopped waving my hands pell mell. Am I alone here?
