Sanders Campaign Co-Chair: Choosing Joe Biden Over Trump Is Like Only Having To “Eat Half A Bowl Of Shit”
Peter Nicholas writes at The Atlantic:
“We have to be true to ourselves and acknowledge that Biden is a mediocre, milquetoast, neoliberal centrist that we’ve been fighting against in the Democratic establishment,” Cornel West, the Harvard University professor and a Bernie Sanders supporter, told me.
If Sanders’s primary voters stay home on Election Day out of pique, that could damage Biden’s chances, especially in must-win swing states.
Nina Turner, a co-chair of the Sanders campaign, told me she has no appetite for the choice she faces: “It’s like saying to somebody, ‘You have a bowl of shit in front of you, and all you’ve got to do is eat half of it instead of the whole thing.’ It’s still shit.”

They refuse to accept the country is scared of some progressive ideas due to relentless right wing attacks over decades. They need to accept primary-ing moderate candidates in more conservative states is a losing proposition. Win the PR war for which they’ve made a lot of progress. However, I’m dismayed that Dems have made concessions after concession to them yet they’re still bitching and slandering. Fuck them. I’m about over their bullshit.

I automatically tune out anyone who says the current Democratic Party is no better than the current republican party. I also turn out people who say the Democratic Party of the past 30 years is the same as the Republican party of the past 30 years. We have not had longer than a two year stretch of total democratic control since Kennedy/Johnson aside from Carter who was also cleaning up a mess. Both President Clinton and President Obama would’ve had presidencies that were much more progressive had they not encountered Republican controlled Congresses after midterm elections. 90% of the things they did they wouldn’t have done with a Dem Congress. These are no friends of our party or cause.

One of my former managers called me earlier to check in (and gossip). As we were finishing I asked her if her 80 y/o, Jewish husband, who had a moderate case of Corvid, was still planning to vote for 45. Mind you, these are people who have known him personally for 30 years and have always thought of him as a fuckwad.
She said that she suspected that he probably would, not because of Joe but because Joe MIGHT capitulate to the "far left". American capitalism allowed this guy to be successful and, as a self made man, he could never support socialism. Or, I suspect, the messengers who are espousing it. In this way, stories like this are dangerous.
We said our goodbyes and hung up with me pondering how socialism is somehow worse than an incompetent, drug-addled dictator. The best I can come up with is that over the course of his life he has seen socialist countries and has a framework for what that used to look like, but is similarly stuck in the past and not seeing where we actually are and thus doesn't believe that we could fall over the edge. Soon.

You are giving people too much credit. The DNC really fuck over all Americans when they went with Bloomberg's plan. If Biden gets elected, he will be a one term president. The Republicans will run against Biden in 2024. They are going to destroy him. And then we are in hell again for 4 to 8 years with another Republican Nutjob.
It is the Republicans, not just Trump. The Republicans could have impeached Trump too.
This is way the VP pick has to be Elizabeth Warren. Someone with the experience to be President.

Biden wasn't my first choice, but the other candidates who I preferred lost. So now I'm on board with Biden. And he's a decent guy with years of experience. Yes, he's too old, but so is Trump. Plus Trump is a criminal, he and his administration are corrupt. Trump is a liar, fraud and a reckless incompetent. Biden is none of those things. He's a respectable, seasoned leader.
So whether he was my first choice or not, Biden is the ONLY CHOICE. Damn, this Nina Turner pisses me off. Another Susan Sarandon. Are they all happy about that? Hillary would have been an excellent president. But no, people like Sarandon and Turner have to keep pushing Sanders. He fucking LOST--and to keep on pushing Sanders could cause the Dems to lose. No matter what the polls say about Biden in the lead...take nothing for granted. This drive to get Trump out isn't over until the night of Nov 3.

R37. I agree with you, but in four years, Elizabeth Warren will be 75 years old. I hate to discriminate against Warren--she's smart and a good fighter, but I think we will get into that same issue about her being too old. I think the Dems have to look for someone in his/her 50s or 60s. Or maybe Pete Buttigieg who will be 42 in four years. I still like Kamala Harris who could be the next VP and in 2024, she will be 59, which is a perfect age for president.

R40. If the Dems don't have a strong candidate in 2024, then I would go with Warren--I like her; however, she will be 75 years old in 2024. I just think that's too old. Biden is too old, but I am supporting him 100 percent because he's the nominee and we must defeat Trump.
Don't forget...if Biden wins in 2020, don't be surprised if he runs for reelection in 2024. He has never said that he would be a one-term president. If he's healthy, don't expect him or any politician to give up power so easily. Biden is currently 77. He will turn 78 in November this year. If he were to run again in 2024, he will be 82 and take office in Jan 2025 at 83.

She has zero qualifications other than she’s an extremist far left person, but maybe she believed she had a shot, or maybe she put the idea out there herself to try to drum up interest. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

RASHIDA TLAIB ON WHY SHE WON'T ENDORSE JOE BIDEN
[quote] Tlaib: He hasn't directly called me or anything, but, no, right now I'm focused on my election, my constituents and my residents. One thing that I know is I'm going to be really focused on turnout in the fall. When I focus on turnout, we will deliver Michigan to Joe Biden. Trump only won Michigan by 10,000 votes. When I turn out my folks and my district, we'll be able to take back the state. When you focus primarily on getting people out to vote in a district like mine, [Biden] wins.
[quote] Q: So you want him to win?
[quote] Tlaib: If there is one person who wants Donald Trump out of the White House, it's me. And I'm going to work extremely hard. I don't have to have a campaign plan for November because I have a safe Democratic seat, but I'm going to [campaign]. Why? Because my residents cannot afford another four years of Trump. They just can't.
[quote] Q: Then why is difficult for you to just say "I endorse Joe Biden for president?"
[quote] Tlaib: Because I don't want to get into a debate with my residents. Residents come up to me and say, "Rashida, I don't know. I hear Joe Biden this, Joe Biden that." I say, "Listen, do we need another four years of Trump? No. Then what I need you to do is go out there and focus on that." If the ultimate goal is to get rid of Donald Trump, that doesn't have to involve me actually endorsing Biden. My constituents don't need to be bogged down in, "Is he the best candidate?" That's not what you have to convince my residents. They need to come out in droves and be inspired by something. And that is going to be a vote against Donald Trump.

You want the Democratic Party to be more progressive than it already is? Convince more people that those progressive policies are best and get Dems enough voters to, you know, win. Do you think you can win ANY election in a swing state/ district without convincing moderates of this? I think they’re persuadable because republicans have proven they aren’t moderate and conservative policies don’t work but you’re still going to have to focus and win them over.

Four months ago I would have said "Oh come on, we had a Black president for eight years, America's progressive enough that we can have a Jewish president." Apparently not. Just the prospect of having a president with two X chromosomes frightened the shit out of so many people that they either ran straight to Trump or stayed home in 2016. I think the DNC saw the writing on the wall this year and though they let the women and Asians and Black candidates and that gay guy run, they rigged the primaries for the straightest, whitest, Christianist old guy available. And I think they made the right call. Americans are reactionary motherfuckers.

The lies these Bernie fanatics tell themselves. Where is this article about a Bernie Sanders interview he did some 10 years ago where he said he would never run 3rd party because he knew it would benefit the GOP and enable a dictator to win?
Somebody bookmarked it?
Shitstain Bernie knows exactly what he is doing, he's been kiss-assing Russia since forever, just like he has been hating democrats since forever. Putin knew exactly where to go to get the guy to create division. Purge voters and prevent his archenemy Hillary Clinton to win the election. GOP-Trump-Putin all have a decades long hatred for the Clintons, esp since that impeachment over a BJ failed.

All criticism, and I do mean all criticism, of Biden is 100% because Obama's black. All accusations of rape and pedophilia are because Obama's black. Tara Reade is a racist who comes from one of the least black counties in California. In fact, all the women who accused Joe Biden of rape are racist lying bitches, and even if they're not lying, who cares? They ALL had it coming for cockblocking a Democrat! They ALL deserved it for the same reason Monica Lewinsky deserved what she got: they were forbidding an elected official from doing his duty to his country.

Bernie supporters, just as Trump supporters, don’t really want a better country. What they want is to be handed what they think other (read lesser) folks are handed. And they want to win, because that will really PISS EVERYONE OFF. They can then embark on four years of gloating while still embracing their inner victim.
No difference.

But he never actually fought for gay rights in any meaningful way that had results and in stayed silent during the defense of marriage act years saying leave it to the states. Meanwhile, Biden is the one who pushed Obama to embrace publicly the idea of gay marriage.
