Sanders Campaign Co-Chair: Choosing Joe Biden Over Trump Is Like Only Having To “Eat Half A Bowl Of Shit”
Peter Nicholas writes at The Atlantic:
“We have to be true to ourselves and acknowledge that Biden is a mediocre, milquetoast, neoliberal centrist that we’ve been fighting against in the Democratic establishment,” Cornel West, the Harvard University professor and a Bernie Sanders supporter, told me.
If Sanders’s primary voters stay home on Election Day out of pique, that could damage Biden’s chances, especially in must-win swing states.
Nina Turner, a co-chair of the Sanders campaign, told me she has no appetite for the choice she faces: “It’s like saying to somebody, ‘You have a bowl of shit in front of you, and all you’ve got to do is eat half of it instead of the whole thing.’ It’s still shit.”
|by Anonymous||reply 160||08/04/2020|
Better than the full bowl of shit Nina wants us to eat.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||07/27/2020|
This is good news for Uncle Joe. He needs SOME sniping from the left so as not to scare the oldsters
|by Anonymous||reply 4||07/27/2020|
So what does it say about Bernie that primary voters came out in droves to choose a half bowl of shit over Bernie?
|by Anonymous||reply 6||07/27/2020|
They refuse to accept the country is scared of some progressive ideas due to relentless right wing attacks over decades. They need to accept primary-ing moderate candidates in more conservative states is a losing proposition. Win the PR war for which they’ve made a lot of progress. However, I’m dismayed that Dems have made concessions after concession to them yet they’re still bitching and slandering. Fuck them. I’m about over their bullshit.

I automatically tune out anyone who says the current Democratic Party is no better than the current republican party. I also turn out people who say the Democratic Party of the past 30 years is the same as the Republican party of the past 30 years. We have not had longer than a two year stretch of total democratic control since Kennedy/Johnson aside from Carter who was also cleaning up a mess. Both President Clinton and President Obama would’ve had presidencies that were much more progressive had they not encountered Republican controlled Congresses after midterm elections. 90% of the things they did they wouldn’t have done with a Dem Congress. These are no friends of our party or cause.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||07/27/2020|
Better a half-bowl of shit than a full one
|by Anonymous||reply 19||07/27/2020|
Nina Turner: Keep your fucking eyes on the prize. We have to fucking win and get Trump the hell out. Sanders lost. Get on board with Biden or STFU. It's people like you who could contribute to Biden losing. Goddammit, STFU.
The alternative is Trump--and that's a whole lot worse than a full bowl of shit. Save the country. Vote for Biden.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||07/27/2020|
These people have no idea how politics work. I agree, Dems would have been far more progressive if they had longer than 2 years of total control during Clinton and Obama. They don’t get that.

Ms Turner is OUT OF A JOB!
|by Anonymous||reply 22||07/27/2020|
One of my former managers called me earlier to check in (and gossip). As we were finishing I asked her if her 80 y/o, Jewish husband, who had a moderate case of Corvid, was still planning to vote for 45. Mind you, these are people who have known him personally for 30 years and have always thought of him as a fuckwad.
She said that she suspected that he probably would, not because of Joe but because Joe MIGHT capitulate to the "far left". American capitalism allowed this guy to be successful and, as a self made man, he could never support socialism. Or, I suspect, the messengers who are espousing it. In this way, stories like this are dangerous.
We said our goodbyes and hung up with me pondering how socialism is somehow worse than an incompetent, drug-addled dictator. The best I can come up with is that over the course of his life he has seen socialist countries and has a framework for what that used to look like, but is similarly stuck in the past and not seeing where we actually are and thus doesn't believe that we could fall over the edge. Soon.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||07/27/2020|
It's good to see that she has the country's best interest at heart. No, Joe wasn't my first choice but it's time to move forward you selfish bitch.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||07/27/2020|
[quote]She's right though
She's right out of a job you mean. She obviously wasn't good enough at her job to pick a winner or elevate her choice to be a winner. She makes shitty choices.

She's right of center. Much to her own chagrin.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||07/27/2020|
I also preferred Sanders or Warren over Biden, but to compare voting for Biden with eating a bowl of shit is why I can't stomach the mentality of many Bernie Brothers and Sisters. The have another 4 years of Trump as president you myopic assholes. Some of them are the flip side of Trumpsters, and that is not a compliment, it's just another toxic approach to society.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||07/27/2020|
[quote]The best I can come up with is that over the course of his life he has seen socialist countries and has a framework for what that used to look like
You are giving people too much credit. My partners shitty relatives back east who are ALL Trumpeters use that "very concerned about socialism" line all the time and most of them don't even know what the word means. None of them are over the age of 50 so its not like they grew up in an old world reality. It's just Faux News talking points repeated by the Trumpian masses.
I tried to explain to them it's not what they think, but the door is shut, their minds are closed and "i'm the one living in a bubble".

|by Anonymous||reply 32||07/27/2020|
I love how she still talks about the “enthusiasm” for Bernie. Yes, Bernie Sanders supporters were very enthusiastic—just not enough to actually show up and vote.
Bernie’s candidacy is a textbook example of why the “enthusiasm gap” between Biden and Trump is a bunch of bullshit. Enthusiasm doesn’t mean dick if the other guy simply has more people who want to vote for him.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||07/27/2020|
Life is the same for many Americans and they just don't notice too much. Trump is popular with many and with others he is a non entity and their lives have not changed much, but now COVID has changed this paradigm. Biden may benefit from Covid.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||07/27/2020|
The DNC really fuck over all Americans when they went with Bloomberg's plan. If Biden gets elected, he will be a one term president. The Republicans will run against Biden in 2024. They are going to destroy him. And then we are in hell again for 4 to 8 years with another Republican Nutjob.
It is the Republicans, not just Trump. The Republicans could have impeached Trump too.
This is way the VP pick has to be Elizabeth Warren. Someone with the experience to be President.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||07/27/2020|
Biden wasn't my first choice, but the other candidates who I preferred lost. So now I'm on board with Biden. And he's a decent guy with years of experience. Yes, he's too old, but so is Trump. Plus Trump is a criminal, he and his administration are corrupt. Trump is a liar, fraud and a reckless incompetent. Biden is none of those things. He's a respectable, seasoned leader.
So whether he was my first choice or not, Biden is the ONLY CHOICE. Damn, this Nina Turner pisses me off. Another Susan Sarandon. Are they all happy about that? Hillary would have been an excellent president. But no, people like Sarandon and Turner have to keep pushing Sanders. He fucking LOST--and to keep on pushing Sanders could cause the Dems to lose. No matter what the polls say about Biden in the lead...take nothing for granted. This drive to get Trump out isn't over until the night of Nov 3.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||07/27/2020|
I believe Warren would be the best VP choice for Biden for the election and for the new administration. If Biden can't or doesn't run in 2024, Warren would be a strong 2024 candidate.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||07/27/2020|
the media and the DNC seeked to discredit and undermine Bernie and his movement every step of the way. Don't be surprised when Joe loses. That is on y'all because we TRIED to warn you.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||07/27/2020|
R37. I agree with you, but in four years, Elizabeth Warren will be 75 years old. I hate to discriminate against Warren--she's smart and a good fighter, but I think we will get into that same issue about her being too old. I think the Dems have to look for someone in his/her 50s or 60s. Or maybe Pete Buttigieg who will be 42 in four years. I still like Kamala Harris who could be the next VP and in 2024, she will be 59, which is a perfect age for president.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||07/27/2020|
Then perhaps Warren/Buttigieg in 2024.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||07/27/2020|
R40. If the Dems don't have a strong candidate in 2024, then I would go with Warren--I like her; however, she will be 75 years old in 2024. I just think that's too old. Biden is too old, but I am supporting him 100 percent because he's the nominee and we must defeat Trump.
Don't forget...if Biden wins in 2020, don't be surprised if he runs for reelection in 2024. He has never said that he would be a one-term president. If he's healthy, don't expect him or any politician to give up power so easily. Biden is currently 77. He will turn 78 in November this year. If he were to run again in 2024, he will be 82 and take office in Jan 2025 at 83.

What is this thing about picking Warren-- an old white lady-- just to appease the progressives? If Biden picks Warren, this will piss off the Black vote. This is like ignoring the person who saved your life. Are you kidding me? The Black vote is a reliable voting bloc,, the youth vote is not.
I'm with R39. Kamala is the best pick.

Exactly, and a lot of these voters are in the swing states. The best and most effective ads against Trump are made by former Republicans.

R45. Nina may be right, but that's debatable. However, I want to win. Bernie lost. Biden won the primary. It's time to vote for Biden. And Biden is infinitely better than Trump even if Biden wasn't your first Dem choice. Trump is a fucking criminal. Jesus Christ, Nina!

|by Anonymous||reply 59||07/27/2020|
I read months ago that some Bernie Bros were trying to push the idea of Nina Turner or some other Bernie staffer as VP, “to bring the progressive wing of the party along.”
She has zero qualifications other than she’s an extremist far left person, but maybe she believed she had a shot, or maybe she put the idea out there herself to try to drum up interest. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
This was put out a while back. Notice they’re threatening to refuse to vote if she’s not VP.
So did she approach Biden to be vetted and was given a polite no?
|by Anonymous||reply 60||07/27/2020|
Cornel West and Nina Turner are two of the biggest grifters, con artists, and gasbags on the current scene.
Other than complaining about what everyone in the country is doing wrong, and kneeling at the altar of that sad backbencher nobody Bernie Sanders, they are otherwise both unemployable!
[quote]This is way the VP pick has to be Elizabeth Warren. Someone with the experience to be President.
HUH? Elizabeth Warren is a shape-shifting opportunist. No former Reagan lover (during the AIDS crisis!) has any experience at anything! She will never be widely appealing because she's not authentic, I don't trust her at all. See how poorly she played her glimmer of a VP shot....by refusing to endorse the obvious winner Joe Biden until her endorsement became irrelevant...like the rest of her career! We HAVE heard the last of Elizabeth Warren!
|by Anonymous||reply 61||07/27/2020|

So much for Sanders doing everything he can for the winner of the Democratic primary. If he cant stop his campaign Co-Chair from making a comment like that then he has no clue how to run a country or bring people together.
As for her, I am glad she said that because she permanently shit herself on her own career moving on into the future. Had she kept her mouth shut and showed a little class and respect for the actual winner maybe she would have been hired in the future for some other campaign. No ones is going to want to touch her after that scat comment.

RASHIDA TLAIB ON WHY SHE WON'T ENDORSE JOE BIDEN
[quote] Tlaib: He hasn't directly called me or anything, but, no, right now I'm focused on my election, my constituents and my residents. One thing that I know is I'm going to be really focused on turnout in the fall. When I focus on turnout, we will deliver Michigan to Joe Biden. Trump only won Michigan by 10,000 votes. When I turn out my folks and my district, we'll be able to take back the state. When you focus primarily on getting people out to vote in a district like mine, [Biden] wins.
[quote] Q: So you want him to win?
[quote] Tlaib: If there is one person who wants Donald Trump out of the White House, it's me. And I'm going to work extremely hard. I don't have to have a campaign plan for November because I have a safe Democratic seat, but I'm going to [campaign]. Why? Because my residents cannot afford another four years of Trump. They just can't.
[quote] Q: Then why is difficult for you to just say "I endorse Joe Biden for president?"
[quote] Tlaib: Because I don't want to get into a debate with my residents. Residents come up to me and say, "Rashida, I don't know. I hear Joe Biden this, Joe Biden that." I say, "Listen, do we need another four years of Trump? No. Then what I need you to do is go out there and focus on that." If the ultimate goal is to get rid of Donald Trump, that doesn't have to involve me actually endorsing Biden. My constituents don't need to be bogged down in, "Is he the best candidate?" That's not what you have to convince my residents. They need to come out in droves and be inspired by something. And that is going to be a vote against Donald Trump.
|by Anonymous||reply 78||07/28/2020|
R77. That is rich coming from people like you who don't mind been crass towards trump supporters. Talk about hypocrisy.
|by Anonymous||reply 79||07/28/2020|
Some of you need to take a good look at some unvarnished article or two about Biden's record. History has proven him to be on the wrong side of almost every issue. He's never been progressive, if anything he's always been regressive. He certainly had to 'evolve' on LBGTQ+ rights. In 1973 he agreed that gays were "security risks" to the US. But of course that's just one issue. There are many.
|by Anonymous||reply 81||07/28/2020|
Oh yes, r76, you're pressing this blue MAGA shit! How adorable! That Biden supporters are just tankies who are no better than Trump supporters in demanding loyalty.

You want the Democratic Party to be more progressive than it already is? Convince more people that those progressive policies are best and get Dems enough voters to, you know, win. Do you think you can win ANY election in a swing state/ district without convincing moderates of this? I think they’re persuadable because republicans have proven they aren’t moderate and conservative policies don’t work but you’re still going to have to focus and win them over.

Four months ago I would have said "Oh come on, we had a Black president for eight years, America's progressive enough that we can have a Jewish president." Apparently not. Just the prospect of having a president with two X chromosomes frightened the shit out of so many people that they either ran straight to Trump or stayed home in 2016. I think the DNC saw the writing on the wall this year and though they let the women and Asians and Black candidates and that gay guy run, they rigged the primaries for the straightest, whitest, Christianist old guy available. And I think they made the right call. Americans are reactionary motherfuckers.

r25 = textbook hysterical Republican slandering the situation.
Sanders doesn't want communism and all Republicans supports socialism in the government.
|by Anonymous||reply 106||07/28/2020|
LOL comparing Joe McCarthy to Biden? The only thing they have in common is that they are both named Joe.
|by Anonymous||reply 107||07/28/2020|
You and Joe Biden ARE conservatives, r91, so FUCK YOU. Biden's even a neoconservative.
Your ONLY value is in getting rid of Trump. But you're still an evil supporter and obstruction of justice so don't expect me to kiss your ass or Biden's.
Tell it to the destabilized Middle East and 250,000 innocent Iraqis killed or 4,000 U.S. troops slaughtered for imaginary Weapons of Mass Destruction.
|by Anonymous||reply 108||07/28/2020|
R108, you really are a troll. Why are you blaming Joe Biden for the Iraq invasion? Congress was given false information! Biden was against the Libya invasion btw. Biden is not a conservative. Saying it 1 million times doesn't make it true.
|by Anonymous||reply 109||07/28/2020|
R108 trolling trolling trolling keep up that trolling rolling, rawlies!
|by Anonymous||reply 110||07/28/2020|
Nina Turner is confused. It’s she herself who is a FULL bowl of steaming watery shit.
|by Anonymous||reply 111||07/28/2020|
R104 that was the best troll thread I have seen. That last part about the primaries being rigged was expert stuff. Tell your supervisor you’re ready to go straight to Twitter.
|by Anonymous||reply 112||07/28/2020|
The lies these Bernie fanatics tell themselves. I've seen some far leftists even claim Bernie was purposefully ousted because he was a supporter of leftist regimes--you know, ones like Venezuela, Cuba under Castro, etc. The simple fact is Bernie has a fanatical fanbase but nobody else cares about him. THE END.
|by Anonymous||reply 113||07/28/2020|
There is zero doubt the Sanders campaign was infiltrated by Americans paid by Russia. Zero. If Biden agreed to 100% of what Bernie wanted they’d still tear him down. I’m done with them. They’re compromised.
|by Anonymous||reply 114||07/28/2020|
Both Trump's and Sanders' campaigns were boosted with dirty Russian oligarch money.
divide and conquer
GOP knows young people and minorities more likely vote for Dems.
|by Anonymous||reply 115||07/28/2020|
R108, Bernie signed the Iraq Liberation Act in 1998, which goal was to oust Saddam Hussein, he was also in favor of regime change in Libya.
|by Anonymous||reply 116||07/28/2020|
I’m so tired of these Bernie deplorables. They can all eat shit and die with Susan sarancunt
|by Anonymous||reply 117||07/28/2020|
[quote] Bernie signed the Iraq Liberation Act in 1998, which goal was to oust Saddam Hussein, he was also in favor of regime change in Libya.
Don't expect R108 to change their tune. This person posts this shit all the time on threads about Biden/Bernie btw.
|by Anonymous||reply 118||07/28/2020|
[quote]...they rigged the primaries for the straightest, whitest, Christianist old guy available.
Yep, some of that half a bowl of shit from Nina went into this guy's brain!
"Rigged" primaries! Yeah, all those millions of voters were forced by the DNC to "Stay Home for Bernie!"
|by Anonymous||reply 119||07/28/2020|
I put on my mask and made it to the local middle school to vote for Biden in the NY primary, just to make sure Bernie Bros wouldn't try to make mischief in NY.
|by Anonymous||reply 120||07/28/2020|
R104 I’m so glad was called out as a troll. Rigged primaries my ass. Rigged if you mean voters came out for Joe then yes it was rigged by voters. Bernie should’ve tried it once.
|by Anonymous||reply 121||07/28/2020|
Where is this article about a Bernie Sanders interview he did some 10 years ago where he said he would never run 3rd party because he knew it would benefit the GOP and enable a dictator to win?
Somebody bookmarked it?
Shitstain Bernie knows exactly what he is doing, he's been kiss-assing Russia since forever, just like he has been hating democrats since forever. Putin knew exactly where to go to get the guy to create division. Purge voters and prevent his archenemy Hillary Clinton to win the election. GOP-Trump-Putin all have a decades long hatred for the Clintons, esp since that impeachment over a BJ failed.

Bernie supporters are prone to bouts of magical thinking, much like Trump supporters.
|by Anonymous||reply 123||07/28/2020|
Bernie is the Trump of the left, and every candidate other than Biden was and is a stealth Republican, especially Pete the closet log cabinette. Just transition already you neocon queen!
All criticism, and I do mean all criticism, of Biden is 100% because Obama's black. All accusations of rape and pedophilia are because Obama's black. Tara Reade is a racist who comes from one of the least black counties in California. In fact, all the women who accused Joe Biden of rape are racist lying bitches, and even if they're not lying, who cares? They ALL had it coming for cockblocking a Democrat! They ALL deserved it for the same reason Monica Lewinsky deserved what she got: they were forbidding an elected official from doing his duty to his country.

[quote]Bernie supporters are prone to bouts of magical thinking, much like Trump supporters.
Magic is just science without an explanation.
|by Anonymous||reply 125||07/28/2020|
[quote] Most Bernie supporters gladly support Biden.
Don't be so sure. My one friend who turned out to be a Bernie Bro last time hated, HATED! "Killery". He bought into the the whole thing and didn't vote. Now that he has seen what Trump has done he still refuses to vote. When I confront him about not complaining if he doesn't participate in the process he gets all bent out of shape and yells at me that he votes for every other local and state election (which I doubt) but not voting for president is his vote.
|by Anonymous||reply 126||07/29/2020|
No Dear, Magic is an illusion.
Magicians refer to themselves as Illusionist not scientists.
|by Anonymous||reply 127||07/29/2020|
Bernie supporters, just as Trump supporters, don’t really want a better country. What they want is to be handed what they think other (read lesser) folks are handed. And they want to win, because that will really PISS EVERYONE OFF. They can then embark on four years of gloating while still embracing their inner victim.
|by Anonymous||reply 128||07/29/2020|
"[R99] I fuckin hate Trump, but it doesn't mean I have to love Joe Biden. ([R81])"
R100 No, you don't have to love anyone. You just have to vote against Trump, whatever that takes.
|by Anonymous||reply 129||07/29/2020|
"Bernie’s usually right and I’m not ashamed of my vote for him. "
He's not "usually right." He's an extremist, which is why he crashed and burned.
|by Anonymous||reply 130||07/29/2020|
That means Biden is one too because Bernie endorsed Biden.
|by Anonymous||reply 131||07/29/2020|
"That means Biden is one too because Bernie endorsed Biden."
Oh for fuck's sake, it doesn't mean any such thing. That's really stupid.
|by Anonymous||reply 132||07/29/2020|
No, it isn't. Just eat your shit and like it.
|by Anonymous||reply 133||07/29/2020|
Bernistas are just like the Tea Party. They have no idea how to govern nor understand compromise. The Tea Party and Trumpsters have ruined the Republican Party and the Bernistas will do the same to the Democratic party.

|by Anonymous||reply 137||07/30/2020|
I am so tired of this Biden is behind the curve on LGBT issues. The facts are all Bernie did was stand in front of a poster 20 years ago and that his big claim to fame. But he never actually fought for gay rights in any meaningful way that had results and in stayed silent during the defense of marriage act years saying leave it to the states. Meanwhile, Biden is the one who pushed Obama to embrace publicly the idea of gay marriage.

|by Anonymous||reply 139||07/31/2020|
People want to give Biden the credit for Obama supporting gay marriage? Are you kidding?. He and Obama were already planning on announcing their new support of gay marriage
But he was a major homophobe for the majority of his career. That should never be forgotten.
|by Anonymous||reply 140||07/31/2020|
Biden is a rapist and kiddie diddler.
|by Anonymous||reply 141||07/31/2020|

Yes, thank you. Bernie just gets credit by piggybacking off of others and making bold statements he doesn't follow up on.
[quote] Biden is a rapist and kiddie diddler.
Tara, give it up. Nobody believes you, not even Fox News.
|by Anonymous||reply 142||07/31/2020|
All accusations of sexual impropriety against Democrats are fake news.
|by Anonymous||reply 143||07/31/2020|
Facts are facts. Joe Biden voted for anti-gay bills and refused to "evolve" until the Alphabet Mafia made everything all-tr*ns all the time.
|by Anonymous||reply 144||07/31/2020|
So Bernie voted against DOMA but then refused to back gay marriage? Nice. That is typical for Bernie. Support something only so far until it comes to actually making tough decisions. The media rightfully criticized Hillary for refusing to back gay marriage but neither did Sanders.
|by Anonymous||reply 145||07/31/2020|
Gays are still treated as cheap dates politically.
|by Anonymous||reply 146||07/31/2020|
So great to not have to deal with that ancient old scarecrow burntard, he was humiliated twice and it must have been a massive blow to his Russian (teehee) sized ego.
|by Anonymous||reply 147||07/31/2020|
There were other choices, R147.
|by Anonymous||reply 148||07/31/2020|
"Biden is a rapist and kiddie diddler."
Shut up Bernie, you extremist old fart.
|by Anonymous||reply 149||07/31/2020|
You can do all of this because you have a brain:
-Understand how Biden became the Democratic Nominee (billionaire money).
-Vote for Biden
-Still participate in Democratic Movements to change public policy now and after the election.
|by Anonymous||reply 150||07/31/2020|
Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren will VOTE for Biden. Both will still speak up about Democracy and Public Policy. They are Public Servants.
|by Anonymous||reply 151||07/31/2020|
[quote]Understand how Biden became the Democratic Nominee (billionaire money)
Biden was the lowest funded candidate in the race. Way less then old fart Bernie. Billionaire money is only coming in now because he is the clear winner and everyone wants to beat the Orange turd.
|by Anonymous||reply 152||08/03/2020|
Why do these freak candidates get such a cult following? Is it Russian hacker propaganda they're falling for online?
|by Anonymous||reply 153||08/03/2020|
Biden is not a "freak candidate".
|by Anonymous||reply 154||08/03/2020|
If you hate Trump, you don't have to love Biden to vote for him.
|by Anonymous||reply 155||08/03/2020|
I can't stand these people. Why not make your own party if you don't like the Dems?
|by Anonymous||reply 156||08/03/2020|
R156, I'm actually glad they stay in the Dem party. This way, they don't pull a Ralph Nader and steal votes away from the Dem candidate.
|by Anonymous||reply 157||08/03/2020|
Won't somebody, please, shit in her mouth 👄!?!
|by Anonymous||reply 158||08/04/2020|
