I worked at Deutsch when he was still an active part of the agency. Yeah it’s easy to make fun of him but I will say one thing: he’s ALWAYS been really pro-gay. I was there in the late 90s and he called us GODS: gays of Deutsch. And went all out around gay pride with parties in the office. Yeah he was blustery and certainly could blow his stack but he respected everyone as equal. Which inspired loyalty. Underneath his larger than life, quasi-douchey persona is a good man with integrity.

He's successful at marketing/advertising.

Joe Scarborough has clashed with and insulted Donny D. at times, but Joe can show a short fuse at times.

I remember watching his sitcom, Donny!. The show was a complete disaster of a vanity project and he came across as a misogynistic dude-bro.

Deutsch seems like a stand up comic or a sitcom actor, odd that his show didn't work out. Maybe that was his real career goal just like Joe Scarborough wants to be a singer-songwriter - though Scarborough doesn't remotely fit the part.

Been around him almost 30 years - very comfortably straight. 30 years ago, it was a relief to be around someone who was confident enough in his straightness, he was not at all threatened by gay men.
