BLM is very important, it's time to address the wrongs through police reforms but "defund police" is indeed an unfortunate tagline. We do need police. People murder, they steal, they assault, they cheat and on and on. Innocent people need protection. Not the trump goons, of course, but local people well trained in the communities they serve. Trained to be sensitive to racist, sexist, LGBT, and other biased response, to treat all people equally, and to of course arrest people who are harming others.

Where I live law enforcement is more progressive. I have a family member in law enforcement who is kind, funny, and compassionate, as are many of his co-workers. It's a small minority who abuse their positions, at least here, and they can no longer be tolerated, they have to go.

There is a lot wrong here, but name-calling of frustrated youth is not the solution. Think of how you were at that age. My generation was also out protesting. Sometimes it will actually change a culture but it helps when the messages are clear, articulate, and non-violent, like we heard from Martin Luther King and John Lewis.

If they would just leave the fucking courthouse alone in Portland there'd be no need or justification for that many federal agents there and the normal security level by either US Marshals or hired security guards like at many courthouses would suffice. I mean what the fuck do they want to do with that courthouse? Who supports firebombing or ransacking a federal courthouse? Anyone got an answer?

There has been violence and looting that has greatly diminished the great cause of BLM. We've all seen the hordes of people stealing from their own neighborhood stores. I will always admire the candor and honesty of the the Mayor of Atlanta on one of the first nights of unrest. She repeated "Put the brown liquor down and GO HOME. Just GO HOME". There are better ways to get your cause to be taken seriously than to steal liquor and Nikes.
