It makes me feel like they are deliberately obfuscating because they know certain locations would be seen as undesirable (China, for example) and then no one would buy them. Even Aldi lists origins on their products.

I think TJ’s naming practices are uneven. Their frozen gyoza lineup (chicken, pork, vegetable, Thai shrimp) are still Trader Joe’s without any Japanese renaming. However the shrimp dumpling is “Thai Shrimp Gyoza” with gyoza being a Japanese type dumpling. So if anything TJ is guilty of mislabeling and lumping all Asian food as interchangeable.

I can't speak for every location, but shopping in person at my TJ's has been a pretty pleasant and safe experience. Everyone is checked at the door to make sure they are masked, admission is limited to a certain amount of people, carts are cleaned and handed to you as you enter. The other shoppers have been quite civilized, as well, nothing like the wacko videos that have been going around.

I'm glad they didn't cave and left room for a bit of whimsy.
