You guys DO realize that flood of “racial outrage” threads are likely planted, right?
There have been a flood of threads with salacious stories on racist or potential race-based situations posted to DL and sites like Reddit for a few weeks now. This is NOT all organic. It isn’t all from Brits or the BLM types who have been accused of flooding over to the Datalounge in recent weeks.
They are being posted across the Internet by foreign interests in hopes of exploiting America’s current crisis of conscious, and they are intended to ignite social destabilization. That may sound like a noble cause to some, but that isn’t the intent either.
Take note of the quick hit, linked stories with the most salacious of headlines. The phantom OP’s will usually type a statement to kick it off but rarely show a true interest in the subject-matter. Many of these threads are no doubt started by the same person but even if we could see their IP addresses, they would likely come from particular clusters and not one or two computers here in the U.S.
I’m not saying this is the case with all of them but due to my work, I know it’s happening, it is intentional and is not meant to fix anything that ails us. It is meant to destabilize the United States, both prior to a national election and in hopes of further preoccupying us. It’s dangerous, and at its heart is aimed at weakening the American military and it’s chain of command.
Don’t buy all of it, even if the stories are true. Remember that racist, misogynistic things happen every day and they are also remedied every day. Hope isn’t lost and much of what is happening is good change. But it’s being used for other, nefarious reasons. And not by Americans.
And it’s not all Russian by the way. Look for more of them later in the year. But in many ways the current exploitation of American debate and discourse is more dangerous than merely Russian hijinks aimed at fucking with our electoral process. - Look east, and question many of these threads and conversations supposedly expressing “outrage“. They are not all what they seem and they are not all, by far, meant to discuss rational social change and healing.

r1, you actually paused to attempt shade for that? Really?
|by Anonymous||reply 2||06/29/2020|
I’ve been predicting it here on DL since last year.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||06/29/2020|
This happened in 2008 as well, tons of the Breitbart-style "black crime" threads and ESTs. This is basically the same phenomenon, slightly modified for 2020.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||06/29/2020|
Is this site really that popular? I get that they'd target Reddit or Twitter etc. But DL?
|by Anonymous||reply 6||06/29/2020|
Yes they R6, they have nothing to lose, they are all over the place.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||06/29/2020|
Everyone should FF any grammar and spelling Trolls, snotty queens have nothing to do but bitch about spelling, get a life. It's tiresome.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||06/29/2020|
r6 I would like to see what percentage of uncle Vlads cyber warfare funds go to subverting DL. My guess is in the range of 3 rubles to 1 Potato.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||06/29/2020|
Your point is correct, OP, your "reason why" is not.
They come to DL because they know that erudite homosexuals will argue back with them and it allows them to better hone their arguments and responses before taking them to larger platforms.
They get that they are not going to change the minds of anyone on DL, and that even if they did, there are maybe a few hundred regulars at most, but Twitter and Facebook is another story.
One other way to ID them is that they will often use rational sounding arguments, e.g., "I am not a fan of Trump, but he may have a pont...."
|by Anonymous||reply 11||06/29/2020|
For years idiots on DL said that Black Lives Matter was a plot by Russia to sow division among Americans where none existed. Those idiots were wrong: BLM is a legitimate and powerfulment movement. Some threads might be planted by Russians, etc., but you are living in a dream world if you think Americans are not capable of expressing racist views on their own.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||06/29/2020|
The old lady in this video is like the people who think DL is under attack from Russian agents:
|by Anonymous||reply 13||06/29/2020|
Rahshan hooker pussy fumes make the derange, yays?
|by Anonymous||reply 14||06/29/2020|
DL is not nearly as popular as some on this site think it is.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||06/29/2020|
Yes R2 because that is the only thing that matters to R1.
R1 The fact that you are a grammar troll shows you have a hole in your soul that nothing can every fill.
If you weren’t such an asshole I would pity you.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||06/29/2020|
OP, I don’t understand the Brits part in this, can you explain?
|by Anonymous||reply 17||06/29/2020|
[quote] erudite homosexuals
Veektor! Come down to Datalounge ving. You never guess vhat funnee Queen say!
|by Anonymous||reply 18||06/29/2020|
R15 the conspiracy theories are always fun. What is more likely?
1. Some aspie keeps getting high and bumping threads.
2. Someone is trying to bury Anti-Trump threads!!!!!!111 (a fools errand on DL)
|by Anonymous||reply 19||06/29/2020|
[quote] BLM is a legitimate and powerfulment movement.
BLM was known as a fringe movement during the Ferguson riots. The Michael Brown case was much more divisive for the country unlike George Floyd whose death was universally condemned by people of all political orientations. The only reason BLM is considered legitimate and powerful now despite their radical leftist leanings is because they have now received tons of corporate backing, money, free publicity, while slightly sanitizing its message in mainstream outlets. However, the radical elements still exist.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||06/29/2020|
The radical elements still exist but BLM is a legitimate movement and organization. People here insisted that it was a sham.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||06/29/2020|
It can be both R21 - a legitimate movement that the Russians then make use of to try and divide Americans
|by Anonymous||reply 22||06/29/2020|
BLM is a legitimate movement that we already know has been manipulated by Russia for its own agenda.
No one is saying BLM is illegitimate. They're saying trolls are posting BLM-style rants, anti-BLM troll posts, and racebait posts of all types to try to create discord and distrust.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||06/29/2020|
As for DL "not being popular enough," as one guy ALWAYS claims any time this comes up, trolls have been organizing to congregate on small forums for years, because the message doesn't get lost on a small forum the way it does on larger ones.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||06/29/2020|
If you're a troll, DL is for practice
|by Anonymous||reply 25||06/29/2020|
In support of R25 and others upthread, here's a question asked of Muriel at Reply 10 in an "AMA" thread:
[quote]Answer us this: is there an influx of Russian trolls/traffic?
And Muriel at Reply 12 in that thread:
[quote]Russian? Who can say? Are there known sources of trolling from overseas pursuing a campaign to divide natural social and political allies? Absolutly. Not many but their techniques are like catnip to communities like this. Their messages are a/b tested until they get the best results. Sites like DL are where they do that testing.
[quote]Why would a few posters from non-english speaking countries have such an intense and detailed knowledge about primary candidates in the US, always hold contrarian and controversial views about them and be willing to take the time to pursue tit-for-tat flame wars? Because they have a vested interest in changing the narrative. They are paid to do it. DL is a small player in this but it is used as a "see look what they are saying on this website" link in other social media. It's all part of a campaign to give the impression of a groundswell of opinion against a policy or candidate in the larger social ecosystem. The "user generated content" side of the internet has functions as an amplifier of bad ideas.

Isn’t BLM just a continuation of King, Panthers and X? The name may change, but it’s all the same fight.

Someone that got redtagged last year as being from Brazil and who was creating tons of threads every day that were flamebait and contrarian was able to post here for FOUR YEARS with the same IP and nothing was done. When they got redtagged, you could search for the "troll 5999" (or whatever number it was) via Google and see their posts went back for years.
And then their redtag disappeared. Another troll from Czech Republic had a redtag which also disappeared.
They could be back for all we know.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||06/29/2020|
Not new, but have no idea what red tagging is. Can you explain?
|by Anonymous||reply 31||06/29/2020|
Datalounge has for the last two years, been basically a race bait site. Once I would count at least 10 new race bait threads a day. And they always fill up very fast.
Funny how I have posted black on black, black on white, white on Asian threads about violence and those don't even get to ten replies.
So I disagree with the OP, while some additional ones may be posted, this trend is at least two years old if not older.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||06/30/2020|
DL is the hardship post for right wing trolls.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||06/30/2020|
Muriel has said we are hit by troll farms. Only actual Russian trolls would say otherwise. There’s a lot of foreign influence on DL and it has been proven as Muriel has read tagged trolls and said from troll farm in India or from troll farm in Slovenia or Macedonia. They want to have free reign on DL because this is where they hone their skills in their messaging for bigger platforms.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||06/30/2020|
It's straight out of Bannon/Breitbart playbook: "Keep 'em talking about identity politics divisions." During 2008/2012 elections, there were this Stormfront trolls who would link to an incredibly offensive, openly racist website whose name I wouldn't even dare to write myself, trying to fuel gay/black divsions. They were also starting a ton of misogynistic threads at the time, trying to pit us against straight women in general. In 2016, the racial component was still there but they realized that anti-trans threads tend to linger around longer than the misogynistic ones (or, maybe, they realized that divide was easier to create?) In any case, expect all of this to intensify in the lead up to November.
