Ringo Starr had a hit in 1973 with this one...he was in his 30s at the time. I appreciate the melody and 50's throwback here, but come ON. Cancelled, right? What other songs should DL cancel in this new world?

Yes, OP, this "rock and roll" music certainly seems immoral. Even depraved sometimes! I wonder what it will do to the moral fabric of our society, I really do.

R13 OP here - I appreciate your feedback here. I didn't realize including "cancelled" and "pervy" would create such a backlash. I meant it tongue in cheek. I thought DL would intuit that. This time, no, obviously. Of course, not all songs that mention teens, etc, are pervy. I was more interested in just songs that mention under age ppl, and whether they are truly pervy or just singing to a young audience. Discussion and input is good! I appreciate all perspectives! When I have posted song threads before with very nice songs there is no interest. I am learning here, but just wanted to engage w the community. Sorry if I offended ppl!

Was it really, R24? A lot of people say it was “more acceptable “ when it was really just more widespread but little done about it. People got away with more back then. Still, I’m in my 50s and pervy behavior by adults towards teenagers was always something looked down upon by most.

Well, I'd rather see you dead, little girl
Than to be with another man
You better keep your head, little girl
Or I won't know where I am
You better run for your life if you can, little girl
Hide your head in the sand, little girl
Catch you with another man
That's the end, little girl
Well, you know that I'm a wicked guy
And I was born with a jealous mind
And I can't spend my whole life
Trying just to make you toe the line
Let this be a sermon
I mean everything I've said
Baby, I'm determined
And I'd rather see you dead.

[quote] Little 15, Depeche Mode.
The song is about a disillusioned adult woman having a relationship with a 15 year old boy, although I guess it could be about a girl as well. I'm a huge DM fan and I've always loved the song. The lyrics are beautiful and I've never really thought them being truly creepy. Since the song is about a depressed person finding solace in a more or less innocent youngster many DM fans can probably relate.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned "Into the Night" by Benny Mardones: "she's just sixteen years old, leave her alone, they say." Some people consider it a pervy song; a man in love with a sixteen year old gir! But I never saw it that way. I thought the song was from the perspective of a teenage boy, maybe 18 years old, who's in love with a girl and her parents want to keep them separated because they think they're too young to be getting so serious. Anyway, it's a great song.

R63 I just saw an interview with McCartney were he said the lyrics were “...just seventeen, and not a beauty Queen..” .Lennon suggested the “you know what I mean,” which was meaningless but sounded between. Both were likely teens when that song was written, for what it’s worth.

Only the Good Die Young by Billy Joel is suspect to begin with for pressuring her to lose her virginity, but what makes it very disturbing is the part about confirmation, which usually happens around age 14.

That is sad news. He was one of the great One Hit Wonders. He had a great voice, but his plug-ugly looks must have hampered him from becoming a big star, along with his abrasive personality and drug and alcohol abuse. I knew he'd been ill for a long time. May he rest in peace.

I always thought “Tonight’s the Night” by Rod Stewart was creepy. The moans and baby talk were by Britt Eklund, his then girlfriend, who was far from a teenager.
But even then, he just sounded like a child molester, not somebody talking about a childhood sweetheart from high school. At the time, people thought, that’s his girlfriend on the recording, how interesting, but now I wonder if he did that on purpose so people would know it wasn’t a thirteen year old. Everybody knew who she was in real life.
Still creepy. There’s just no way the premise wasn’t creepy. Even then.

There's a rather obscure (I guess there's a reason for that) song on Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album called "All The Young Girls Love Alice." When I thought it was pretty disgusting. And pervy. The lyrics go:
Raised to be a lady by the golden rule
Alice was the spawn of a public school
With a double barrel name in the back of her brain
And a simple case of Mummy-doesn't-love-me blues
Reality it seems was just a dream
She couldn't get it on with the boys on the scene
But what do you expect from a chick who's just sixteen
And hey, hey, hey, you know what I mean
All the young girls love Alice
Tender young Alice they say
Come over and see me
Come over and please me
Alice it's my turn today
All the young girls love Alice
Tender young Alice they say
If I give you my number
Will you promise to call me
Wait till my husband's away
Poor little darling with a chip out of her heart
It's like acting in a movie when you got the wrong part
Getting your kicks in another girl's bed
And it was only last Tuesday they found you in the subway dead
And who could you call your friends down in Soho
One or two middle-aged dykes in a Go-Go
And what do you expect from a sixteen year old yo-yo
And hey, hey, hey, oh don't you know

by Anonymous | reply 84 | June 30, 2020 3:57 PM |
R84: I remember reading (right here on DL!) about some website for female "little girl lovers" called Butterfly Kisses.
From Urban Dictionary:
[quote]Also known as The International Female Girllovers Collective (IFGLC). A screwed up organization of lesbian pedophiles and ephebophiles who are trying to make it legal for women to carpetmunch underage girls. Basically the wacky feminist version of NAMBLA. The playwright Eve Ensler of Vagina Monologues fame is romoured to be a supporter of the group. Their once very active website mysteriously vanished a couple years ago. It was pretty much a guide on how to groom young girls and force them into a lesbian lifestyle. It also had disgusting poetry and a lot of really unsettling personal stories. Let's hope the Butterfly Kisses site stays gone forever.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | June 30, 2020 4:01 PM |
I think I heard the "Butterfly Kisses" website was written by a GUY. I think that might well be true, some really sick guy pretending to be a woman (or women) who like to have sex with VERY little girls. Someone on the site posed the question: how do I go about getting this little girl I know to have sex with me? And the answer was this: be a mentor, a friend, a good listener to the child. Once the child has your trust offer to give her kissing lessons. And remember, don't do anything she doesn't want you to do! That sounds like advice coming from an experienced child molester.
