Americans need to stop this thing where they sanction a country until it can't trade with anyone else, but then blame the country itself for starving.

The Chavistas have a terrific record in reducing poverty and therefore starvation in Venezuela. It's American sanctions which are reversing that. Many dictators care about not starving their peoples because they need stability in order to keep their hold on power. Americans,on the other hand, don't care two shits about not starving other countries, especially Third Worlders. Heck, if it's an enemy country, they'll gladly do it, as many US State Dept and military officials admitted in the case of Iraqi civilians.
