I've always thought the humanitarian schtick was just that and yes, there is a disconnect. You can't go for photo-ops with poor, hungry children one day and the next jetting off on private jets and yachting. That goes for Princess Diana too; both just wanted adulation. Della, I worked with her about a year or so ago and she's still beautiful in person. You didn't hear it from me, but the reason why she likes all the makeup and costumes is the preparation time- it's the only time she has to herself, which is about 3 hours a day. She was kind to the kids on set- brought her kids for everyone to hang out with, then treated all of them to day to Universal Studios. But I find that actors with difficult reputations tend to behave on low budget stuff because they know that the crew is working their asses off for minimal pay.
