What Event in History Would YOU Like to See Ryan Murphy Turn Into a Limited Series for Netflix?

I want him to do the story of the Donner Party.

by Anonymousreply 171August 20, 2020 2:30 AM

The Dyatlov Party, of course!

Thoughts?

by Anonymousreply 1June 5, 2020 8:00 PM

The Kenley Players 1976 Summer Season, or whatever year had Paul Lynde in Plaza Suite.

by Anonymousreply 5June 5, 2020 8:23 PM

r4 I can see him stretching it out over the whole series if it stars David Corenswet and the totally not gay Darren Criss.

by Anonymousreply 6June 5, 2020 8:31 PM

Farrow vs Allen. The entire saga.

by Anonymousreply 7June 5, 2020 8:36 PM

With 100% not gay Darren Criss as Ronan Farrow? I would watch that!

by Anonymousreply 8June 5, 2020 8:38 PM

The Brady Bunch Variety Hour, of course!

Darren Criss as Greg, Tharah Paluson as Fake Jan, and is Jessica Lange too old to play Carol?

Not sure who Kathy Bates will play, maybe guest star Mama Cass.

Special Guest Appearance by Kathy Bates as "The Housekeeper."

There's nothing gay, glamorous or showbiz about The Donner Party. So why would Ryan Murphy care, OP?

You're not funny or savvy.

by Anonymousreply 14June 5, 2020 9:06 PM

r14 He'll make it gay, glamorous and showbiz!

by Anonymousreply 15June 5, 2020 9:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 18June 5, 2020 9:17 PM

I think The Donner Party or something about The Oregon Trail would be tremendous. Watching him try to make pioneer women fierce and glamorous, as well as trying to insert twinks and gay content among the strife would be hilarious. Either would make an 8 episode series that would completely go off the rails in episode 5, ending with a black woman lecturing all of us on homophobia and racism. Played by Gabby S.

by Anonymousreply 19June 5, 2020 9:21 PM

[quote]The Dyatlov Party, of course!

How about "Darren Criss Self Sucks On Live TV!"?

by Anonymousreply 23June 5, 2020 9:45 PM

[R19] I know you're being humorous but you've hit the nail on the head as to why Ryan Murphy is uniquely awful. He subverts the truth of whatever subject matter he's depicting to to conform and pander to whatever woke, trendy, nonsense notions are blowing around in the zeitgeist. This wouldn't be as much of a problem if he stuck to original, contemporary content but he believes himself to be an auteur with a great command of arts and culture - which he definitely is not. I couldn't watch 5 minutes of FEUD for this reason. He didn't understand the characters, their mindset, the world that produced them or how they actually approached their lives. Corny woke feminism was more important to him than Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. I hope he rots in hell because he ruined a truly great idea - the DIVINE FEUD book by Shaun Considine made the rounds of Hollywood for years and people like Diana Rigg were interested. He turned out a travesty that should have been a hilarious and fascinating entertainment. He's a fucking Barbarian.

by Anonymousreply 24June 5, 2020 10:05 PM

R22 and r24 are the only sane voices here. Ryan Murphy needs to stop making television shows - he’s not very good at it!

by Anonymousreply 25June 5, 2020 10:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 34June 6, 2020 2:36 AM

R33 I third it. Yes. Club Kids murder. Gruesome murder with drugs.

by Anonymousreply 35June 6, 2020 2:37 AM

R33 Lots of skinny twinks for him to cast, should be right up his alley. It would be interesting seeing it as black comedy, especially the meth fueled dismembering of the body.

OK,OK. I think I have struck GOLD!!!!! The death of Dorothy Kilgallen. Yes! Now that ought to be like, absolute gold. She pissed off a lot of people, and she was having an affair with Johnny Raye who was insane and he was also closeted Gay. And she stumbled on some dirt related to the Kennedy assassination and everyone believes she was murdered. So you have glamour, you have celebrities galore, and you have a suspicious death.

OR : Speaking of the Kennedy assassination, how about doing something on the death of Marilyn Monroe? Now that would sizzle.

by Anonymousreply 59June 6, 2020 4:03 AM

Go on You Tube and search for Johnny Ray. I'm telling you he was all the rage back then. I've linked to one of his more popular ditties. Cry.

He had some other tune he used to sing where he would actually break down and cry on TV. Ed Sullivan,I'm told, just love it. Ray was nuts. Certifiable. I think he was an alcoholic and a pill popper and he was very high maintenance. I discovered him when I read a biography of Kilgallen.

by Anonymousreply 72June 6, 2020 3:20 PM

I would love to see him do something about the Mattachine Society and the gay rights movement from its beginnings in 1950 and culminating in Stonewall.

I want him to be Pharaoh Akhnaton!

Or his Queen Nefertiti!

Or both....

He needs to become a woman so he can stop embarrassing gay men.

Bette Midler's time performing at the Continental Baths. Seriously, I think he could do a great job weaving fact and fiction to put together a good show about the 70s and anchor it around the bathhouses

The murder of William Desmond Taylor.....

by Anonymousreply 164August 19, 2020 12:36 PM

OMG, the best story for him to do would be Jean Harlow. So tragic. And Paul Burn her closeted Gay husband. Even to this day, that Carroll Baker movie Harlow is still one of my favorites.

by Anonymousreply 165August 19, 2020 12:37 PM

I'd like to see him do the Brat Pack, just for the 80s nostalgia.

The End of Ryan Murphy's Career.

Dakota Fanning, fresh from her triumph in the Alienist, would be cast as ....HARLOW

by Anonymousreply 168August 19, 2020 6:39 PM

Who would play the gay black butler from the William Desmond Taylor case? The police took him to a graveyard and had people dressed as ghosts to try to spook him into a confession, because they had a stereotype that black people were superstitious or something.

Billy Porter, probably.

Has anyone mentioned Peg Entwistle?

He should turn The Mommie Dearest Diaries by Rutanya Alda into a series.

I read it and Faye didn't come off that bad - Rutanya came off as a complainer.

Yes, Rutanya, Faye didn't stay to stand in for your scenes and sometimes she was late BECAUSE SHE HAD A NEWBORN INFANT AT HOME.

Ever heard of priorities Alda?
