The many hundreds of millions of dollars of aid started flowing in late april putting people back on payrolls for 2 months (not necessarily back to work, just back on payroll.)

That program is now tapped out and most of those people are going to be back off paroll when it ends.

I know two people who lost their jobs in 2008 and their only option was to take a similar job at a significant salary cut. Neither one recovered economically since then.

There is NO WAY that we have that many NEW JOBS during a pandemic. These are the highest numbers since records have been kept (1939?). These numbers are from the government business bailout legislation (4 bills so far?) as well as the phasing in of manufacturing and construction.

You had construction workers previously laid off, the hospitality sectors expanding from take out and curbside to seating, gyms beauty parlors dental offices etc all going from out of work to working. My surprise is that people were surprised at the job creation number regardless of the screw up with the U3 number misclassification.
