How's that for open concept?

Terrifying. You used to hear about this happening all of the time to cliffside homes in LA after heavy rains, but haven't heard about them in a number of years.

by Anonymousreply 2June 4, 2020 6:24 PM

OP, your username made me laugh out loud.

Does Norwegian homeowners insurance cover mudslides, I wonder I do?

Hey Norgie, what’s the word?

R3 Thanks! I always forget to click the box to use it

by Anonymousreply 5June 4, 2020 6:57 PM

R4 This is from Alta in Finnmark county, the most northern part of Norway. It's very sparsely populated. I live a 2 hour drive south of Oslo. I've never been that far north.

by Anonymousreply 6June 4, 2020 7:03 PM

I'd still rather live there than in America

by Anonymousreply 7June 4, 2020 7:08 PM

This happened because of increasing temperatures and a rapid melting of snow and ice. That part of Norway had a late spring this year. The thawing happened too fast, hence the mudslides.

by Anonymousreply 8June 5, 2020 5:43 AM

Incredibly, no one was injured or killed.

by Anonymousreply 9June 5, 2020 5:50 AM

There goes the neighborhood...

Cunt.

by Anonymousreply 11June 5, 2020 6:18 AM

The most peaceful destruction I've ever seen.

by Anonymousreply 12June 5, 2020 6:19 AM

I hate when that happens.

Shit, that video looks totally different than what I expected.

I was imagining something like an avalanche, not a three-acre town gently sliding into the sea -- and then the houses coming floating back to the shore!

by Anonymousreply 16June 5, 2020 9:50 AM

I didn't even know Norway had mud. It always looks so clean in photos.

Stupid nonsense.

R19 I read about in in a newspaper. I didn't know beforehand. I learned as I read about it.

by Anonymousreply 20June 5, 2020 2:15 PM

This is God's punishment for not sending Ulrikke back to next year's Eurovision!

by Anonymousreply 21June 5, 2020 6:41 PM

It doesn't even look like a mudslide. It looks more like a tsunami.

by Anonymousreply 22June 5, 2020 6:51 PM

Did they see their reflection in the snow-covered hills first?

by Anonymousreply 23June 5, 2020 7:02 PM

Yes, that looks very different from a California debris flow (or mudslide), largely because it takes place at such a low angle. There's no speed.

It looks like the gently sloped ground was so saturated with water that it lost all integrity, not that it was pummeled with water or mud coming down a slope.

Damn I was rooting for that 2 story white house to make it !

by Anonymousreply 25June 5, 2020 8:47 PM

Don't tell Trump, he'll call it a shit hole country.

by Anonymousreply 26June 5, 2020 9:23 PM

No, he likes Nordic countries and wishes it were them beelining to the United States.

by Anonymousreply 27June 5, 2020 9:41 PM

I’ve watch that video several times. It really is Wild watching that White House move so slowly towards the water. It then disappears and reappears moving in the opposite direction in the water flow. Truly interesting to watch if you don’t on the house. I feel sorry for those people

by Anonymousreply 28June 5, 2020 9:59 PM

Too bad that wasn't the real current White House sliding into the Potomac!

by Anonymousreply 29June 5, 2020 10:36 PM

Is this a covert scat thread?
