I'm constantly exhausted

what could be the cause?

low testosterone?

thyroid?

crappy diet?

Lack of exercise?

age?

solutions?

TIA

by Anonymousreply 58June 6, 2020 4:13 AM

More info: gender, age?

by Anonymousreply 1May 27, 2020 6:52 AM

You mention low testosterone so I assume you're a guy. Without knowing your age (which could be a factor). Other culprits are the usual suspects - diet, vitamin deficiencies, thyroid, lack of exercise and weight.

All of the above OP. Assuming you are 40? 50? 60? You could have all of those.

by Anonymousreply 8May 27, 2020 7:12 AM

White blood cells could be low, Vitamin d could be low, you could have an autoimmune disorder. I’m tired most times too and it’s a symptom of my autoimmune disorder

Hiv

If you are overweight that is a very common problem. Anything 20lbs over your BMI. Most of the bear guys I know who are way over that 20lbs marker complain about the same thing. Only don't dare mention it has anything to do with their weight. The honest truth is our bodies were not designed for that so they have to work harder to just get through daily life. Hence, being tired all the time.

by Anonymousreply 11May 27, 2020 7:18 AM

For me it was low testosterone.

I was in an automobile accident and received a concussion. The blow to my head seriously damaged my pituitary gland.

I work 12 hour shifts in an extremely hot environment and on workdays it was all I could do to eat, shower and get dressed.

My work schedule work two days, off two days etc.

On my first day off I could not get up before noon and the most I could get accomplished was light housework for an hour.

The rest of the day would be spent in my recliner watching television before I would go back to bed at 7 PM.

The second day off I would be up by 7 AM and I would have enough energy to go grocery shopping with my best friend.

I was 50 and my friend was 70 and he had more energy than me.

He thought I might have cancer and urged me to go to the doctor. That’s when I found out I had low testosterone.

I should’ve known something was wrong. The accident was when I was 45 and within three weeks of the accident I was no longer waking up with an erection. That lasted for five years until I went on HRT

Also sleep disorders cause chronic exhaustion. Sleep apnea is not uncommon.

How long have you been exhausted?

If it started in March or so, then I would say it's either stress from covid or allergies, or maybe allergy meds if you're taking some.

Try some tips to get better sleep -- no phones or laptops or TV just before bed, meditation, maybe an OTC med, some sleep sounds or white noise -- and go from there. When you wank up, do some very light stretching and make sure you have a full glass of water before you start your day.

by Anonymousreply 14May 27, 2020 8:30 AM

Uhm, I meant WAKE up, not wank up, but wanking can't hurt. It's relaxing and good for you.

Depression will make you feel this way

by Anonymousreply 25May 27, 2020 1:24 PM

If you’re not getting exercise and/or your diet sucks, that’s a place to start.

Remember, little steps that lead to permanent healthy habits is the key to taking control of your body.

by Anonymousreply 26May 27, 2020 1:33 PM

I'm SO TIRED everyday as well. I usually never go to bed before 2 am. Could that be why I'm alway SO TIRED?

by Anonymousreply 27May 27, 2020 1:37 PM

You could have sleep apnea.

by Anonymousreply 28May 27, 2020 1:37 PM

I'm with R13. Sleep-related disorders can really mess with your energy, and sanity.

I had undiagnosed sleep apnea (I'm not overweight, but it turns out my windpipe is about half as wide as normal...imagine how that could limit your social life!), and it took quite a toll on my health.

At the very least, it's worth ruling out. There's a cheap app (I think $1.50 per month; quit any time) called SnoreLab. It "listens" to you sleep and gives you a report in the morning. I use the app not only to confirm I still have apnea issues, but to gauge the effectiveness of my newest CPAP.

Since Covid I’ve been the same. It’s called depression.

by Anonymousreply 30May 27, 2020 1:43 PM

Perversely, I think 'lack of exercise' might be the culprit behind a lot of fatigue. I'd been dragging lately, always looking for flat surface to take a nap on. Taking multi-vitamins, etc. to somehow boost myself up. Then I worked in the yard on Monday and became exhausted. But woke-up the next morning clear-headed and energetic (though sore).

I've also been under a lot of stress lately, which will grind you down in an insidious way.

Many people don't have access to forms of exercise. They don't live in neighborhoods where you can ride a bike or even safely take a walk or run. And they don't have money or time for a gym.

I've been doing basic stretching for a 1/2 hour in the mornings (stretch for the ceiling, stretch for the floor, squat) and it's better than coffee.

by Anonymousreply 31May 27, 2020 1:50 PM

You could be diabetic. Why not go to a doctor and discuss this?

by Anonymousreply 32May 27, 2020 2:03 PM

High blood pressure?

The human body must move or it stagnates

by Anonymousreply 37May 27, 2020 3:02 PM

This isn't uncommon in the pandemic. There's been a wash of low-lying anxiety for several months and a lot of uncertainty and lack of control.

Try to get some more rest. Take vitamins. Eat healthier. Try to get some exercise. Drink less alcohol.

I'm in the same boat.

by Anonymousreply 38May 27, 2020 3:10 PM

What is the point of “trying” to get some exercise?

by Anonymousreply 39May 27, 2020 3:14 PM

OP, here;

All good tips. I'm going to try to start walking more and eating less crap and upping the Vitamin D.

I'm 56 and fat (fuck where does the time go!) A decade ago, work was going great (like really great both financially and I had more prestige in my field); I lost 40 lbs over the course of 1 year 3 months, gradually; thanks to regular exercise and a very important woman in my life (Jenny Craig).

6 years ago, stress, lack of money; lack of exercise; that's lead me to where I am now.

Exhausted. I'm going to implement these positive suggestions and then also get checked out by a doctor.

by Anonymousreply 40June 1, 2020 2:50 AM

I've felt this way since mid 2015

OP, I have the same problem this spring, too. I thought it was Coved, but it it not. I’m already treated for hypothyroidism. I had low-T for a few years, but it became normal again. I think it’s either sleep apnea or allergies, but I’m still working on it.

by Anonymousreply 46June 1, 2020 4:43 AM

R6, I came to this thread specifically for that. Thanks for not disappointing!

Are you paler than usual? What about under your fingernails - reddish or whiteish? Anemia will make you exhausted as fuck but a blood transfusion will cure you good.
