The notion that non A-list actors/actresses have to take what they can get.

I personally don't believe that's true anymore. Every actor/actress has options and most of them come from upper middle class backgrounds. If they take the role it's because they like it or something about the project.

Like 90 percent of the Screen Actor's Guild is unemployed at any given time. Very few people have a choice. Even after the "made it." I have a friend who was on two TV's shows. When the second one got cancelled she did one film and now has been unemployed for a solid year (Pre-Covid) and will likely be unemployed for all of this year.
