You bitches need to stop demanding an edit button.

That is a feature, not a bug. DL is a cyberspace of note, so y'all need to review your posts carefully before hitting that green button. Double check your grammar and content before you post, bitches.

by Anonymousreply 64May 27, 2020 7:55 PM

No thanks

by Anonymousreply 1May 26, 2020 1:16 AM

I agree that people should get in the habit of proofreading, but I can't help but wonder what "a cyberspace of note" is.

by Anonymousreply 2May 26, 2020 1:28 AM

Thank you Oop.

by Anonymousreply 3May 26, 2020 1:28 AM

Oops, I meant Poop.

by Anonymousreply 4May 26, 2020 1:28 AM

Der! OP!

by Anonymousreply 5May 26, 2020 1:29 AM

I really have no patience with DLers who start threads.... with misspellings in the subject line.

Bitch, please. There are 7 words in your subject line.... and you managed to misspell 2 of them. Two. Out of 7 words.

No patience.

by Anonymousreply 6May 26, 2020 1:44 AM

OP? SUKKAMEDEEKA!!!!

by Anonymousreply 7May 26, 2020 1:48 AM

There are nine words in the thread subject, dear R6. Moreover, it is only proper that you actually spell the number out when the number is less than ten. You are showing nothing, but your trashy upbringing, with the use of numerical characters "2" and "7."

by Anonymousreply 8May 26, 2020 1:50 AM

OP, did you finally escape from the dead bride thread?

by Anonymousreply 9May 26, 2020 2:21 AM

R8, dear? My comment was a general one: about other DLers who (hypothetically) start new threads, then misspell their subject lines. Not. About. You.

I was actually in support of your suggestion that people double-check their posts.

But now you've antagonized me for no very good reason.

by Anonymousreply 10May 26, 2020 2:22 AM

OP, dear, of course you are right.

But you're like a professor orating into a pigpen.

by Anonymousreply 11May 26, 2020 2:24 AM

I'll gladly do without the edit button if only I can get an Ignore Thread button that actually lasts

by Anonymousreply 12May 26, 2020 2:30 AM

Where would DL be without Jackie On Assistance?

by Anonymousreply 13May 26, 2020 2:30 AM

No edit button ever.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 14May 26, 2020 2:33 AM

The original DL did have spellcheck.

by Anonymousreply 15May 26, 2020 2:59 AM

Not everyone is perfect like you OP and some of us need to read the text in a published post instead of a text box to take in the typos.

It’s ridiculous not to have an edit period. Most forums let you edit whenever you want, and a minority let you make changes for a minute or two and then lock it. Only DL allows absolutely no changes. I mean, even Instagram allows you to delete your comment so you can redo it. I know of literally *no* other forum that forces you to keep your typo up forever, uncorrectable.

by Anonymousreply 16May 26, 2020 3:16 AM

R16, then perhaps, " some of us" do not belong in this upscale environment.

by Anonymousreply 17May 26, 2020 3:25 AM

Pron, cak, WHET, graxy, etc., are DL Classics. You are a cunt, OP. (That’s a “c” with a cedilla.)

by Anonymousreply 18May 26, 2020 4:06 AM

When I am typing, my words are highlighted when spelled wrong. There is no suggested correction, but I know it is incorrect.

I agree with no edit. Especially here. You bitches need to have your words out there permanently to remind you of what bitches you are, bitches.

by Anonymousreply 19May 26, 2020 4:14 AM

[quote] [R16], then perhaps, " some of us" do not belong in this upscale environment.

MARY!

by Anonymousreply 20May 26, 2020 5:22 AM

My favorite is when people, who know that they have likely misspelled a word, follow it with "(sp?)". As if they are not sitting before a device that can access all of the information in the world. Take 1.5 seconds to Google it, and you'll look like less of an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 21May 26, 2020 5:32 AM

That’s a different topic r21.

by Anonymousreply 22May 26, 2020 5:38 AM

DL is not for sissies.

by Anonymousreply 23May 26, 2020 10:12 AM

R11 is why I keep coming back to this pigpen. WW!

by Anonymousreply 24May 26, 2020 10:23 AM

Ypir the supermodel agrees.

by Anonymousreply 25May 26, 2020 11:06 AM

R2, “cyberspace of note” means that every Datalounge post you make becomes part of your permanent record, the very one that you started in elementary school.

by Anonymousreply 26May 26, 2020 11:09 AM

[quote]DL is a cyberspace of note

Oh, brother.

by Anonymousreply 27May 26, 2020 11:13 AM

R21 touched on one of my pet peeves.

I agree completely.

by Anonymousreply 28May 26, 2020 11:33 AM

I feel bad for people who pay for this site lol.

by Anonymousreply 29May 26, 2020 11:35 AM

If you can't get it right the first time, you should be shot.

by Anonymousreply 30May 26, 2020 11:36 AM

[quote][R21] touched on one of my pet peeves.

Pics please.

by Anonymousreply 31May 26, 2020 11:50 AM

I don't know about everyone else, but I swear there are times when I type my entry, proof it, everything looks fine. Then I hit Post, and the instant it posts I see a mistake. Does that happen to anyone else?

by Anonymousreply 32May 26, 2020 11:54 AM

Yes, R32. I worked as a writer an editor for years and everything was proofread by three editors. Errors, some very obvious, still made it into print. One favorite, not uncommon, was "pubic servant."

When I post here I shed my old background and just try to get the thoughts out without poring over them too much. I do proofread before hitting Post but those damn typos still happen.

by Anonymousreply 33May 26, 2020 8:31 PM

[quote] I do proofread before hitting Post but those damn typos still happen.

They sure do.

[quote]I worked as a writer an editor for years

by Anonymousreply 34May 26, 2020 8:33 PM

[quote]The original DL did have spellcheck.

Pretty much every browser or app that allows for text input has spellcheck built in these days.

by Anonymousreply 35May 26, 2020 9:37 PM

Typos are a leading indicator of a stinky pussy.

by Anonymousreply 36May 26, 2020 9:39 PM

Oh that’s bulshot.

by Anonymousreply 37May 26, 2020 10:52 PM

Spellcheck is limited to spelling. It doesn't know whether the context calls for "there" or "their" or "they're" -- or "to" or "too" or "two", etc. And it doesn't address punctuation at all, so apostrophe abuse can run amok for all spellcheck cares -- "it's" or "its", etc. Nor does bad grammar bother spellcheck -- "The usher seated my wife and I" -- "She and myself loved the show". Machines are no substitute for education, which includes actually understanding what one has learned so that correct usage becomes automatic.

by Anonymousreply 38May 26, 2020 11:10 PM

R38 MOreover, that Grammarly app and its brothers are likely spyware. Grammarly HQ is in Ukraine actually.

by Anonymousreply 39May 26, 2020 11:17 PM

I've known of some hot Ukrainian's, they are like Russians but the craziness has been dialed down by15%.

by Anonymousreply 40May 26, 2020 11:36 PM

Well I guess R40 settled that question.

by Anonymousreply 41May 26, 2020 11:47 PM

That's nice, R40 -- but how was their English grammar? And did they use apostrophes more correctly than you do?

by Anonymousreply 42May 26, 2020 11:48 PM

🖕🏼🖕🏼 Whore

by Anonymousreply 43May 27, 2020 12:42 AM

I'm too fucking lazy to check my spelling.

by Anonymousreply 44May 27, 2020 12:47 AM

THEN DON'T COME BITCHING TO US for an edit button, R44, when someone points out your spelling deficiency.

by Anonymousreply 45May 27, 2020 1:00 AM

[quote]I swear there are times when I type my entry, proof it, everything looks fine. Then I hit Post, and the instant it posts I see a mistake. Does that happen to anyone else?

It is because of the timeshift--you used to live in a slightly different reality, and the Matrix had a clunky upgrade, because contrails

by Anonymousreply 46May 27, 2020 2:41 AM

Your an idiod if you think i'm going to chek wevery spelling and corecct my pucturation.

by Anonymousreply 47May 27, 2020 2:43 AM

You've known some hot Ukrainian's what, r40?

by Anonymousreply 48May 27, 2020 2:50 AM

The (sp?) is to notify the spelling queens that their services are not needed. We know it is probably spelled wrong and fuck you I am not looking it up.

It goes back to times before spellcheck. When a writer really might not be able to find the word in the dictionary. Or the piece does not warrant it.

by Anonymousreply 49May 27, 2020 2:57 AM

People! Consider the possibility that you are speaking to Her Majesty. Show some respect.

by Anonymousreply 50May 27, 2020 3:06 AM

Edit option, no, but I do see how a "preview" option could be helpful.

When writing an rereading, eyes can habituate to errors and miss things, even if reread multiple times. Once the post is up and reformatted into a slightly different style, errors often become immediately obvious.

Sometimes before I click "Post", I'll drag the little grey-shaded triangle in the bottom right corner of the text box to resize it and change the text's margins so I'm not staring at the same box of words I've been typing.

I don't know why that little triangle exists, but that's how I use it.

by Anonymousreply 51May 27, 2020 5:34 AM

Dammit, writing AND rereading. I knew that was going to happen.

by Anonymousreply 52May 27, 2020 5:35 AM

That’s hilarious, R52.

I love irony.

by Anonymousreply 53May 27, 2020 1:06 PM

I demanded an edit button. Then yesterday my mother died in mysterious circumstances. I'm not saying there's a link, but I'm not saying there isn't.

by Anonymousreply 54May 27, 2020 2:04 PM

You’re next, r54.

by Anonymousreply 55May 27, 2020 2:05 PM

Beloved aunts everywhere disagree.

Bear in mind that only spectrum disorders care about spelling errors on an anonymous chat forum.

by Anonymousreply 57May 27, 2020 2:32 PM

[quote]People! Consider the possibility that you are speaking to Her Majesty. Show some respect.

You're more likely to be speaking to a lot of people who are sitting on "the throne."

by Anonymousreply 58May 27, 2020 2:33 PM

I'd just be happy to get gifs back tbh. Same with the ignore function that doesn't work anymore.

by Anonymousreply 59May 27, 2020 2:52 PM

I'm hoping we get talk/text then I don't have to wear down my nails.

by Anonymousreply 60May 27, 2020 3:56 PM

Fuck yourself, OP.

You can be a cyberspace of note and still have a 60 second edit function

by Anonymousreply 61May 27, 2020 4:02 PM

Are you new here, r57?

by Anonymousreply 62May 27, 2020 6:24 PM

[quote]Consider the possibility that you are speaking to Her Majesty.

I don't give a flying fuck about any of Jermaine Jackson's kids.

by Anonymousreply 63May 27, 2020 6:26 PM

Is this the same "cyberspace of note" that recently ran the thread "My Asshole is Busted"? OP you are the livin' end!
