At least they're wearing masks!
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 26, 2020 12:32 AM |
R2 no they are not
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 26, 2020 12:33 AM |
Where do you live, OP?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 26, 2020 12:39 AM |
R4 I was just watching CNN and they are showing video from today - no one is taking this seriously
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 26, 2020 12:43 AM |
In my LA neighborhood it has been very quiet. The few people walking around are wearing masks.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 26, 2020 12:46 AM |
In Pottersville the bars are already open again, pixies!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 26, 2020 12:50 AM |
I watch live YouTube cams around the country and no one seems to be wearing masks. I do see them around my neighborhood though in LA.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 26, 2020 12:55 AM |
People are sick of social distancing, because they have no attention span. Some are doing it deliberately to show their support for Trump, others because they thinking God will protect them. Trump wants to open everything up, since the economy is the only thing he has going for it. If there is another outbreak and an economic downturn, he will blame it on the Dems. The only thing you can do is take care of yourself, because masks and social distancing will be gone by the end of June ( unless there is another outbreak).
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 26, 2020 12:59 AM |
i think it's just because it's Summer time.
People are used to coming out from hibernation in their homes, and breaking free. And Memorial Day weekend has always been the kick-off to Summer, so it's not really surprising.
I guess everyone thinks that the warm weather will solve everything.
When it starts getting cold again, people will move back indoors and start social distancing again. Just watch.

Everyone is at the beach.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 26, 2020 1:08 AM |
OP you don't see the ones who are distancing. My brother tempted a garden party the other day and he said he felt horrified, said hello and left. Nobody was distancing. Well, duh, bro. But you get my point. People who are distancing are not out and about being filmed in mod scenes.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 26, 2020 1:22 AM |
mobbed scenes
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 26, 2020 1:23 AM |
The majority of people are still staying home but that doesn’t make for “exciting” TV.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 26, 2020 1:27 AM |
R14 So the ones out and about are idiots?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 26, 2020 1:45 AM |
The ones out and about for non-essential activities are indeed idiots, yes.

Lol! In NYC?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 26, 2020 2:05 AM |
Believe it or not, R17, not everything is about NYC. People not social distancing in the epicenter of the virus are merely assholes, most with no political agenda.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 26, 2020 2:13 AM |
Where I am in Brooklyn mostly everyone is wearing masks. You get the occasional idiot in a small store that doesn't. The parks are somewhat crowded, but not as bad as other places I've seen.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 26, 2020 2:16 AM |
I’m on the UES and the vast majority of people wear masks on the street. Everyone wears them in stores. Sometimes people will pull them down if no one is nearby. I do. I haven’t seen a single altercation, but I don’t go too many places.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 26, 2020 2:24 AM |
Social distancing from 400-lb jabbas isn't really an easy thing to achieve, dear human wanderers.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 26, 2020 2:29 AM |
It’s fine with me. The more idiots that let themselves get sick, the longer I get to work from home.

I went to Home Depot Sunday for flowers. The store only allowed a few in at a time. We were all waiting in line at 6’ distances, all with masks. Inside, it was more of the same. I did frequently pass people at closer than 6’, but everybody had masks, which the store required, and people were mindful of the social, distancing, for the most part. I felt comfortable m which is saying something.
I’m still running off the tank of gas I bought in Feb in preparation for Armageddon. I might fill up again tomorrow. Now, if I can only get a haircut this week!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 26, 2020 4:37 AM |
Idiots in my building set up a barber shop right outside my window. No masks, no social distancing, just about 40 Mexicans and one barber. If they'd been in the hot sun I wouldn't have been so worried, but of course they weren't, and they were leaning against my windows and leaving their shit on my air conditiojner so I sweltered with it off until half an hour after they were all gone.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 26, 2020 4:44 AM |
It's now believed it was just a particularly bad flu season that the world overreacted to, and a lot of sick and/or old people died- per usual.
Conspiracy theories include that the Liberal Media used it to crash Trump's beautiful economy.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 26, 2020 5:33 AM |
I agree, R26. Those roving pop-up Mexican barbershop gangs are just the worse!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 26, 2020 5:55 AM |
People just aren’t that scared anymore. At this point, the CDC estimates the death rate is 0.3%.
The original purpose of the shutdowns was so the hospitals wouldn’t get overwhelmed. Well, here in Washington, the hospitals are so underwhelmed that UW medicine just furloughed 4,000 hospital workers.
At this point, the threat of this virus in Washington is starting to lose credibility.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 26, 2020 6:00 AM |
I live in upstate NY and all the tourists from NYC and NJ have overtaken my town. Groups of people without masks. So I'm just staying home and hope they all die.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 26, 2020 6:02 AM |
Same in my neighborhood, R6. Everyone is wearing masks/social distancing.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 26, 2020 6:08 AM |
I had It in late-Feb. Bad, but not hospital-bad. A couple times since then I've had experiences where I had a dry cough and felt over-heated for a few days (including last week). I feared It was coming back again. But now I wonder if there are different-but-similar strains out there, and I'm contracting them.
There's such a stigma that people often suffer in silence, for fear of being ostracized, quarantined... or fired/furloughed from their jobs.
I believe that most people now have been exposed to one or more of the strains, and their bodies all reacted differently to it.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 26, 2020 6:26 AM |
No, R15, they're stable geniuses, the kind you find in horse boxes.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 26, 2020 6:46 AM |
I wanted to go to a local park this weekend but then I remembered all of the crazies that are trying to buck the safety measures so my family stayed inside. My parents wanted to get out, but I put my foot down and told them I'm not going out to be amongst the mob. Thankfully, these people are helping the herd immunity process. At some point we either need a cure or will need to start the herd immunity process. People can't stay like this for the rest of the summer.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 26, 2020 7:02 AM |
But doesn't "herd immunity" mean death and survivors? Yuk.
Obviously a lot of people are already "immune" to it or the whole planet would be rotting corpses. Probably a genetic immunity from way back.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 26, 2020 7:09 AM |
I was driving around in LA today, and I was surprised how *few* cars were on the road. A lot of people (at least here) are still socially distancing. The media always reports on the bad behavior and not people boring-ly carrying on as usual.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 26, 2020 7:10 AM |
I am social distancing and wearing a mask. Stay the fuck away from me.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 26, 2020 10:04 AM |
It was so quiet in Boston today. Midday and all I could hear are the birds chirping. No city noise at all. So, people are not going about their pre-pandemic business.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 27, 2020 2:32 AM |
Is corona over now? I really don’t hear it talked about. Should we still be quarantining? It doesn’t look like it with all these protest marches.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 3, 2020 10:43 PM |
All masks do is prevent your SPRAY from sailing into the air if you have Covid-19. Or had it, and may still be contagious.
A silly paper/cloth mask isn't going to screen-out microscopic viruses, esp. if you're in a high viral load area like a theater, stadium or public transport.
I read that it usually enters through your eyeballs anyway- and no one is covering those.

Here in N. Fl its about 50 - 50 . Usually its the white trash and older whites who refuse to wear masks or social distance. We were in BJ's today and this herd of white trash ,sans masks, walked by mother and I and thought theyd be cute and start acting like they were coughing because we were wearing masks. Even the small kids were fat slobs. Long story short,it got ugly and store security escorted them out. I was all manner of "faggot" and "asshole" dont ya know.

At first about 25% of people were wearing masks here in my suburb of Cincinnati. Then it went to about 50% Right now it's about 75%. Many cancelled Memorial Day plans. Summer vacations have been postponed. I don't see kids in the grocery stores anymore.
I know two students at Miami U. who were exposed to the virus at one of the parties in Oxford, Ohio on graduation weekend. I know of a University of Missouri student who had Covid and went to that infamous pool party at the Lake of the Ozarks while he was infected. If these college students are not careful, colleges and universities will have to shut down in-person classes for the fall. They are trying their best to reopen safely in the fall, they can't guard against stupidity.

Chris Hayes talked about it tonight and every night. Most everyone I’ve watched on CNN and MSNBC over the past week has at least mentioned it, as have all my local media outlets. It’s just taking a back seat to the protests themselves.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | June 4, 2020 1:34 AM |

It is if he has the virus.

Will he mind being asked to wear a mask in your house?
Are you able to be 6 or more feet apart, or eat outside at 6 or more feet apart?
Do you have a half bath which he can use that is away from your main sleeping and kitchen quarters?
by Anonymous | reply 63 | June 4, 2020 3:24 AM |
We have seen a friend a few times in the last few weeks, always in a public park or public area where no other people are, and we've distanced and worn masks.

by Anonymous | reply 65 | June 4, 2020 4:23 AM |
They should have ended the quarantine and put everyone back to work. Would have prevented a lot of the bullshit destruction that’s happened. Misguided, psychotic destruction. That has zero connection to the guilt of some asshole cops.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | June 4, 2020 4:29 AM |
True, R66, but you're not supposed to say it.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | June 4, 2020 2:31 PM |
People in Boston are social distancing. I think you have to wear a mark inside stores, by ordinance.
I walked to my local CVS today and it had been looted Sunday night.
I have to remind myself to add 5 minutes to any trip for suiting-up in gloves and mask, etc. Still adjusting to that.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | June 4, 2020 11:27 PM |
Social distancing was the upper middle class virtue signal of the spring.
Summer 2020's is posting a black image on your Facebook and humblebragging about all your sweet, delicious priviledge and how guilty you feel about your career success and expensive belongings.

R30 - Southern and Eastern Europeans are the worst...agree with flight restrictions and using takeout instead of dining in restaurants, no masks except for the highly educated, barbershop and salons and dentists are ok, but stores need to stay closed. They talk about the virus while dancing, kissing and no masks.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | June 4, 2020 11:49 PM |
Social distancing and mask wearing were political bullshit, the new bullshit is protests and riots. The TV lies to you.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | June 4, 2020 11:51 PM |
Social distancing and mask wearing were driven by science, protests and riots are driven by emotion. You don't have to watch TV to figure that out.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | June 4, 2020 11:54 PM |
R74, how is it “political bullshit”? The recommendation was not made as a political statement. If there were subsequent objections to them by the toddler-in-chief, and he tried to make it political to suit his own agenda, that doesn’t make it so.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | June 4, 2020 11:55 PM |
Science has now turned on a dime and decided that mass gatherings of people are acceptable if they have a good reason. Covid-19 spares the good of heart I guess.

I am very uncomfortable with members of the medical establishment maintaining that protests against police brutality may be worth the risk of acquiring COVID-19. But they're not denying science -- they acknowledge that the risk is very real.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | June 5, 2020 12:12 AM |
Any stats yet?
by Anonymous | reply 83 | June 5, 2020 12:17 AM |
R81, you don’t wear gloves? I thought they were were recommended? Especially when touching public handrails, shopping carriages, etc., which are never cleaned.
The medical professionals, who I think should know best, are the most cautious in my city, and that tells me that gloves are a good idea.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | June 5, 2020 12:50 AM |
R83 - Too early. Give it a week or two. I hope this does not shutdown things again for 4th of July.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | June 5, 2020 1:11 AM |
Gloves don’t afford you any special protection, they can be contaminated as easily as your hands can be. Some people find that wearing gloves keeps them more alert about not touching their face, however, so that is worthwhile.
I’d probably wear gloves if I used public transportation, but I go bare handed and keep sanitizer in my pocket and in my car.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | June 5, 2020 1:59 AM |
R86: Yep! Gloves also remind me to wash my hands as soon as I walk in the door - as well as everything those gloves touched.

by Anonymous | reply 88 | June 5, 2020 2:10 AM |
I am taking all the precautions and always wear a mask when out. However, especially in LA, the genie is out of the bottle now with the mass protesting. We can still not sit on the beach. Even though things are "open", most everything is still closed even prior to the protests. Life is so grim, I would like to just wear a mask at this point in the new shitty normal and sit in an outdoor bar with a drink. We all know masks are fairly effective. It's up to everyone to protect themselves at this point. Life has to go on now in some fashion.
