Since this site is full of elders who lived through the 80s, how many of you are poz? If you aren’t, how did you manage to avoid getting infected? Were you celibate? If you are poz, how is your health after all these years?
How Many DLers Are HIV Poz
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 27, 2020 5:46 AM |
64, negative. Have always been careful.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | May 25, 2020 9:39 PM |
Probably most of them. Which is why they hate everyone on PReP
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 25, 2020 9:39 PM |
I’m 65 and neg. I was in a monogamous relationship from 1977 to 1986. By that point we knew how to play safe.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 25, 2020 9:40 PM |
63 poz for 9 years , celibate and single and good health so rarely think about it
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 25, 2020 9:40 PM |
What a grotesque question. Wo do you think you are talking to OP ????
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 25, 2020 9:51 PM |
60 - negative. Sexually active way before anybody knew about HIV and safer sex - mid teens to early twenties. I sucked a million cocks but I was never into anal. I’d top very occasionally and bottomed exactly twice but it wasn’t for me.
It’s complete luck that I made it through unscathed. And I never take that for granted, as so many didn’t.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 25, 2020 10:01 PM |
70- Luck. Absolute luck.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 25, 2020 10:52 PM |
43, negative.
In 3rd grade my best friend and I were afraid to touch one another because we might “make AIDS” between ourselves. That merely slowed me down with others growing up. Somehow I’m clean.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 25, 2020 11:11 PM |
63. Spent the 80s and 90s in NYC and SF. Negative. No explanation. I had ample opportunity to seroconvert.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 25, 2020 11:19 PM |
46. Negative. Husband of 5 years is poz and he's 40. He's the top and we fuck like monkeys.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 25, 2020 11:21 PM |
The real question is... how many DLers DON'T have full blown AIDS?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 25, 2020 11:22 PM |
r10 FYI - Your "top" husband is a bossy, bareback power-bottom as soon as he leaves your home.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 25, 2020 11:24 PM |
R12 Sure, Karen.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 25, 2020 11:25 PM |
39 and completely dodged a bullet with HIV. Didn't even know my status until I had a stay in a hospital. It really woke me up.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 25, 2020 11:25 PM |
Gen Z is so weird. They're really obsessed with HIV.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 25, 2020 11:27 PM |

OMG, I love PReP...it protects against Gono and Syphillis real good.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 25, 2020 11:52 PM |
Stupid R19 it's the same with the straights, they get all those too, they just don't talk about it like the self-hating shaming gays. Me, I'm Poz and got drunk a lot, and to the dismay of all you judgemental cunts, I was not a slut, whatever that is. If I had known I had it, I would have went ahead and become a slut.

Some people don’t get it due to genetics. They’re still researching it but it looks like a certain Mediterranean gene, or lack there of, has protected people from contracting the virus.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 26, 2020 12:43 AM |
58, negative; cautious to a fault.
Two friends in the 90s swore to me that you just had to be really careful.
They each had lovers who'd died of AIDS; years, later, they both contracted it -- not from each other or their lovers.
I supposed, I wasn't cautious as much as I was picky.
I want a guy, who'd make me feel safe and someone who cared about me and whom I'd care about in return.
I live in LA so...that didn't happen.

R21 Scientists have discovered a genetic mutation among primarily northern Europeans that protects against HIV.
"It always puzzled scientists in the field that the mutation never occurs in Asian or African populations, but only among European Caucasians," said Eugen-Olsen. It is much more prevalent in the North and tapers off towards the Mediterranean, meaning that only eight out of 100 Southern Italians carry the mutation, compared to one in four Danes.

*suppose
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 26, 2020 1:06 AM |
That "gene" from a Northern European was the one that they gave to Timothy Ray Brown in a bone marrow transplant that cured him of HIV. There is another one they think is cured but they are still being cautious, he also had a transplant.

I had 2 White roommates that were hiv-positive one committed suicide in 2011 and the other one just passed away in 2019.
I'm 50. Fat. Fem. Black and Asian. Maybe that's why I dodged an HIV bullet

How many DLers have experienced a blowout after withdrawing from hole?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 26, 2020 5:55 PM |
Dear God, WHAT IS A BLOW OUT???
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 26, 2020 7:17 PM |
I'm negative. I came at sexual age just as HIV was destroy gay communities and I was petrified of sex for years.
It's horrible when one associates sex with death AND have to deal with so much homophobia in the world. It all makes us stronger in the end, but what a wacko journey it has been.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 26, 2020 7:36 PM |
Condoms. Always.
Negative.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 26, 2020 9:24 PM |
I’m poz. Have been for 10 years. I had a meth problem back then. Life is good now.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 26, 2020 9:41 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 26, 2020 9:42 PM |
I’m poz. Have had the wildest sex imaginable since.
With PrEP, other guys come after me to sperm them.
So weird but everyone is consumed with finally doing the forbidden
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 26, 2020 9:50 PM |
53 - negative despite unsafe sex in the heat of the epidemic. Luck. Or the Northern European gene. Amazed I lived this long. If I die tomorrow, I feel blessed.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 26, 2020 9:57 PM |
53-. All I can say is that I was lucky. I always used condoms, but was acutely aware that they could break. We all lived in a state of fear. I lived in London throughout the 90s, and it was terrifying. Every time I went out socially, I would hear of another friend who was sick.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 26, 2020 10:14 PM |
I thought OP was asking about the queens who ARE poz??? Where'd did all of you Negative Nancys come from? I think we need to let the poz community speak, so we can learn something. R4, thank you for sharing.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 26, 2020 10:18 PM |
Almost 66, negative. Receptive anal sex was too painful back then.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 26, 2020 10:31 PM |
50 and negative. Coming into my teens in the early 80s I was scared stiff of getting HIV. Part of me regrets that I was too chicken shit to have sex until my late teens. I was cute and could have gotten laid a lot, but maybe HIV-fear fucked me up just enough to avoid contracting it. I’m sure there are a lot of other guys here around the same age who’ve experienced the same. Anyone?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 26, 2020 10:54 PM |
Nobody cares about you negative eldergays. This is a thread for the POZ queens!
