You only get electrocuted once. Electrocution is death. I think you mean, "were you always getting shocked?"
Actually, incidents of receiving shocks, major or otherwise, were (and are) extremely rare.

[quote] Electrocution is death.
Websters defines electrocution as: past tense: injure or kill someone by electric shock.
So does anyone who knows what they are talking about care to comment?

Yeah I remember the old two prong outlets. Mostly in older places. Plus they had one that weren't keyed for polarity too. Those were dangerous.

How exactly are 2-prong outlets less safe than 3-prong ones?

As a child, I held a 9 volt battery to my braces on a dare.
I won the dare. So they told, me after I woke up.

I like the cords that could plug into light sockets

Two-prong plugs still exist and are standard on many, many things. Are you talking about two-prong OUTLETS?

All the OUTLETS in my SF apartment (built circa 1960s) are two-pronged. The only grounded ones are in the kitchen and bathroom. I've had to buy adapters for some of the OUTLETS.

I had to switch some of my outlets when I bought my house. Now they are ALL three-pronged. I’m not going to find myself needed to plug a three-pronged device into a two-pronged outlet. No sir, not I. Not in MY house.

As a five year old I told my three year old brother how much fun it is to repeatedly plug and unplug the fan. Imagine my surprise when he shot across the floor in a shower of sparks. I laughed and laughed!

Those are very dangerous, you're appliances are not grounded and can kill you.

Don’t call him an appliance, that’s not nice.

I live in a building that was built in 1929 or 1930 and my apartment still has its original wiring. I have so many three prong to two prong adapters.
Rent controlled in Chelsea, don't ask why I live here.

two prongs are unsafe, if you use adaptors kiss your appliances and maybe your ass, goodbye.
