Interesting! Nicotine may prevent the coronavirus

by Anonymousreply 41May 25, 2020 1:54 AM

But the hazard of someone drawing a big breath of smoke and then blasting it out to unwitting people around them negates any 'benefit' of nicotine.

by Anonymousreply 1May 22, 2020 3:32 AM

No, there are just less smokers than there used to be

by Anonymousreply 2May 22, 2020 3:33 AM

Well, nicotine is a deadly poison.

Perhaps you should drink some in liquid form, OP.

It'll stop your coronavirus dead in its tracks.

by Anonymousreply 3May 22, 2020 3:34 AM

R1 False, non-chronic exposure to secondhand smoke is harmless.

by Anonymousreply 4May 22, 2020 3:34 AM

R3 Nicotine isn't a poison. It's a stimulant no different than caffeine in of itself.

by Anonymousreply 5May 22, 2020 3:35 AM

They are finding smokers are getting it less than non-smokers, they found this in SARS1 as well. This is such a strange illness.

They are also finding high-CBD sativa might be helpful in preventing COVID, they think it blocks the ACE2 receptors so the virus can't enter.

I would like to announce,”You’re Welcome!”

by Anonymousreply 8May 22, 2020 3:54 AM

Maybe the action of smoking is a bigger risk, hand to mouth action. I wonder if menthol or non-menthol makes a difference.

Crystal Meth and PCP are said to work as well!

by Anonymousreply 10May 22, 2020 3:59 AM

R10 Cool!!

by Anonymousreply 11May 22, 2020 4:01 AM

Is it the nicotine, or do tar and other chemicals create an inhospitable/impenetrable barrier?

by Anonymousreply 12May 22, 2020 7:16 AM

Coronavirus is a fussy bottom

by Anonymousreply 13May 22, 2020 7:32 AM

We had an extensive discussion of this last month.

We have quite a few people here living in 1999. There are many ways to get Nicotine into your system apart from cigarettes.

by Anonymousreply 15May 22, 2020 7:55 AM

This is just circuitry overload for all the anti-smoking #StayAtHome catastrophe queens. Now all we need is a study saying tattoo ink has some virus-warding properties...

by Anonymousreply 16May 22, 2020 8:04 AM

Bullshit study, fake news.

by Anonymousreply 17May 22, 2020 8:28 AM

OP is Donald Trump.

by Anonymousreply 18May 22, 2020 8:31 AM

"Nicotine isn't a poison. It's a stimulant no different than caffeine in of itself."

Then you should have no trouble drinking a cup of liquid nicotine.

Do it, Mr. Smarty Pants.

by Anonymousreply 19May 24, 2020 12:06 AM

A lot of the recent data has shown this. Some people just don't want to believe it.

There was a lot of hysteria that smoking/vaping was made people more susceptible to covid-19 when it first hit even though there was no evidence behind that. The data has so far consistently shown the opposite.

by Anonymousreply 20May 24, 2020 12:09 AM

Are you 7?

by Anonymousreply 21May 24, 2020 12:27 AM

[quote] There was a lot of hysteria that smoking/vaping was made people more susceptible to covid-19 when it first hit

I remember that. There was a 17 year old athlete who was otherwise healthy yet got critically ill (ventilator for weeks) and his parents were saying the doctors kept asking them if he vaped. They insisted he didn’t, being an athlete and all, and said the doctors didn’t really didn’t believe them.

OP is Brennan Dawson, tobacco industry spokesmodel

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 23May 24, 2020 12:48 AM

By the time people get to the most vulnerable age (above 80), most smokers are already dead

by Anonymousreply 24May 24, 2020 12:53 AM

RIP Brennan btw, who died at 55 from God only knows what...!

by Anonymousreply 25May 24, 2020 2:14 AM

Link please r25. I can't find an obit for her.

by Anonymousreply 26May 24, 2020 2:34 AM

Google "Brennan Dawson obituary", she died in 2013.

by Anonymousreply 27May 24, 2020 4:15 AM

R27 I assume it was a smoking related death.

by Anonymousreply 28May 24, 2020 5:41 AM

Can’t find details of Brennan Dawson's death, but it appears she was born in 1961, and died in June 2013 at age 51. Three months later her husband died at 57. They left 3 kids, all under 21 years old. That’s karma.

by Anonymousreply 29May 24, 2020 6:26 PM

In another study, researchers found that fellatio prevents the spread of coronavirus.

by Anonymousreply 30May 24, 2020 8:26 PM

A while back I was able to track down her kid's names but all that seems to have been removed. They were ugly. Genes polluted from Brennan smoking during pregnancy, I'm sure.

by Anonymousreply 31May 24, 2020 9:27 PM

Nerve mind. Hey Brennan.

I stress smoked for a week after COVID hit because my job furloughed so many people that I ended up doing the work of 3 full time employees. I had not smoked for 12 years prior to that and quitting again has been a bitch.

At least I can tell myself now that I did to avoid COVID-19.

by Anonymousreply 33May 24, 2020 9:33 PM

R33. Same here. I'm enjoying it so this is good news.

Let’s give it a test, r30.

*winks*

by Anonymousreply 35May 24, 2020 10:56 PM

When I almost certainly got C19 in early Feb, at first I thought it was a cough because I was smoking so much MJ, more than I'd ever had before. Suddenly I have neighbors and friends everywhere smoking 420 and I got caught up in it for a couple weeks. Some days I was high from 8 am until midnight. Then I got a cough and sore lungs, thinking it was all the weed. But my infection wore off relatively fast compared to what I read - I was sick about 7 to 10 days total. I joked that the smoke fumigated my lungs.

BTW, tobacco is also known to reduce the signs and symptoms of celiac disease as well.

by Anonymousreply 36May 24, 2020 11:05 PM

[quote]there are just less smokers

You're late for ESL class. Run along.

by Anonymousreply 37May 24, 2020 11:06 PM

not strange if you consider how much tar is in the lungs of smokers. Probably prevents the virus from penetrating into the tissue.

by Anonymousreply 38May 24, 2020 11:16 PM

R38 "Tar" is not "in" the lungs, idiot.

by Anonymousreply 39May 25, 2020 1:17 AM

No wonder Fran Lebowitz is still alive

by Anonymousreply 40May 25, 2020 1:19 AM

This seems stupid enough to be a deplorable thread!
