In R1's photo, he does not appear to be the picture of good health. I count at least 4 chins.

by Anonymousreply 2March 29, 2020 8:18 PM

I believe he’s the first celebrity to die from it.

R.I.P. in John Deere Green

by Anonymousreply 4March 29, 2020 8:23 PM

Shame...he could have played Joe Exotic in the inevitable Hollywood version of that story.

by Anonymousreply 5March 29, 2020 8:28 PM

Very sad. Loved his music.

Someone else had just posted about them sending a letter to Joe Diffie when they were a young kid in school. JD never replied, they said. I read that and then I read this. Coincidence is weird sometimes.

Maybe deaths of celebrities, especially Country Music stars, will get people to finally pay attention to this.

by Anonymousreply 11March 29, 2020 10:58 PM

He didn’t die of no Chinese flu. Jebuz called and he answered.

by Anonymousreply 12March 29, 2020 11:03 PM

I always thought of him as "The guy who hooked with Davey Allison's Widow just after his death."

by Anonymousreply 13March 29, 2020 11:08 PM

I always loved this duet that he did with Mary Chapin Carpenter....

I call it Karma.

Very sad, but I like country singers who don't die.

by Anonymousreply 16March 29, 2020 11:53 PM

that sucks!

by Anonymousreply 17March 30, 2020 12:30 AM

I loved many of his songs. My favorite being John Deere Green. Reminds me of better days. Ugh. What a terrible week.

Has Dolly commented ?

by Anonymousreply 19March 30, 2020 12:51 AM

I'm 57. I can't imagine looking like that when I'm 61.

by Anonymousreply 20March 30, 2020 12:55 AM

Did he get the Chinaman flu

by Anonymousreply 21March 30, 2020 1:02 AM

"Has Dolly commented ?"

Her tongue was up Judy's cunt, but she could heard saying: "ly haht ith boken"
