What was she like?
Does anyone have any Nora Ephron stories?

I wish I did.
I adored her and would loved to have met her.

I liked some of her work very much but wished her movies were as smart and edgy as she was, not sentimental tripe. Her voice comes across best in her collected essays.
Word from acquaintances who did know her/encounter her: Ephron was not especially nice or warm to the "little folk." She constructed a public persona as a contemporary Dorothy Parker-esque dry wit as a writer and director and played that role skillfully, but when she was "off" she was rather haughty and imperious. Bordering on unpleasant.
FWIW, I've been told as much about Fran Leibowitz, another Parker-type with a sensibility much closer to my own than Ephron's.
Don't meet your heroes, kids.
