How would you feel about Richard Madden in a Bates biopic?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 18, 2020 1:49 AM |
He's happy
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 18, 2020 1:55 AM |
Madden, you're no Alan Bates
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 18, 2020 1:59 AM |
Is his brother Master still alive?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 18, 2020 2:27 AM |
No. It's just Kathy left now.

He was such a great actor and HOT when he was young
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 18, 2020 3:06 AM |
For his supposed kindness, he seemed to put his boyfriends through the ringer.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 18, 2020 3:08 AM |
If only he were alive today...
... in which case he would be clawing at the inside of the lid of his coffin.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 18, 2020 3:17 AM |
r8, details please!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 18, 2020 4:10 PM |
R8 He didn't. Believe me he didn't

[Quote] During his affair with Nickolas Grace, a fellow actor, Bates made him hide under the back seat if they were travelling in a car.

That's kind of sad.

R4 No, Master Bates was his older rich pervy uncle.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 18, 2020 5:25 PM |
It's just so sad he glug glug glugged his way to eternity.

You don't know Nickolas Grace obviously... He's like a chewing-gum under your sole. Alan had a collection of weirdos and rescue cases, including Jo Pettet and Nick Grace , who all believed they were the ' one' and would eventually be Lady Bates. He couldn't let them down because they were useless and needy, but there were certain limits. If anything Alan was too kind and should have told them to Fuck off. He supported his weirdos emotionally and financially until his last day.

I understand he liked Ivor Novello‘s music.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 18, 2020 5:32 PM |
He is greatly missed.

It's kind to string people along?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 18, 2020 5:37 PM |
What is that supposed to mean R20 ? He liked Jeremy Northam. He thought Jeremy should have been a bigger star, but Jeremy didn't like stardom , The paps etc.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 18, 2020 5:38 PM |
He didn't string people along, they just wouldn't let go when it was over
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 18, 2020 5:39 PM |
Jeremy Northam is ice cold. Audiences decided if you'll be a star or not.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 18, 2020 5:41 PM |
Jeremy stepped down. He didn't like the exposure, Vera

Like his wife? The woman he let raise his children, despite the fact that her mental illness was writ large? Bates couldn't deal with reality.

He had custody of the boys, you stupid
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 18, 2020 5:44 PM |
Those boys were left with their mother far too long. Bates was a Peter Pan, always off in Neverland.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 18, 2020 5:49 PM |
Nick is that you ? You really should let go and get a life. You didn't mean much you know ? Just move on already

Gabriel Oak....I will ALWAYS be in love with Gabriel Oak in Far from the Madding Crowd.

He was really talented and fascinating to watch. I've seen him in three or four films and the characters he played all seemed to be bisexual.
